Magician to transform his venue ILLUSIONIST CRIST EYES NEW THEATER IN THE SPRING
Tristan Crist, an illusionist and magician, is building a new theater in Lake Geneva that will nearly triple the capacity of his current venue.

Since 2016, Tristan Crist Magic Theatre has been voted “No. 1 Thing to Do in Lake Geneva” and with more exposure comes the need to expand. Crist, a professional magician for 22 years, opened the venue at 609 Main St. three years ago and became an immediate sensation. “The theatre was an immediate hit with the locals and tourists and quickly became a top attraction in town,” Crist said. “Last year, we performed over 300 sold out shows and decided it was time to expand.” Plans started in May 2018 when Crist bought two acres of commercial property on Edwards Boulevard, where they have began construction of a new venue. The future theater, according to Crist, will nearly triple the capacity from 56 seats at the Main Street facility to 156. The expansion includes new amenities, which the Main Street facility does not have, he said. “We are also excited about a dedicated parking lot, expanded lobby, additional bathrooms and more stage space to perform even larger illusions,” he said. “One of the draws of our current venue is the – Tristan Crist intimate and up-close atmosphere. The back row of seating is only 20 feet from the stage.” Although the new theater will increase width for more chairs, the similar and intimate style will be maintained, he noted. Crist targets opening of the new venue in May 2019.

Top attraction Crist, touting his large illusions in an intimate setting, also specializes in engaging the audience. That interaction led to favorable reviews on TripAdvisor. That, in turn, has led to repeat customers, Crist said. “We are forever grateful to our audience members for their positive

feedback and reviews,” he said. “In fact, we often have people come back and see the show multiple times to experience new magic and illusions that are always being added.” His magic shows last about an hour. He is also available to perform for private events. After hundreds of shows, Crist said he still gets satisfaction from an engaged audience. “Seeing people relax and enjoy the experience in the moment (is what I love most),” he said, adding he enjoys watching adults become children again as they experience the wonder of magic. Along with the shows, the theater offers an assortment of concessions. Gallery 223 hosts new show and sale Gallery 223, Lake Geneva, is hosting a new Winter Show and a first-ever sale on artwork. The Geneva Lake Arts Foundation and its Gallery 223 grew with more members than ever last year, and with so many artists and quality artwork on hand they need to make room for exciting new pieces. Everything in the Gallery is now 10 percent off, including all artwork, paintings, 3D items like jewelry, ceramics, prints and cards. The new gallery show and sale runs through Feb. 17. Gallery 223 is located at 223 Broad St in downtown Lake Geneva. More than 160 artists from all over the area belong to the Geneva Lake Arts Foundation, allowing them the opportunity to show their work at the gallery, on the website, and network with other artists. Small-town movie theaters rapidly became a thing of the past when the shift to huge multiplex cinemas became the norm. But in Burlington and Lake Geneva, people can still see the latest releases in a more intimate atmosphere. Shad Branen, who has owned The Plaza in Burlington for years and more recently purchased and renovated the Geneva Theater, Lake Geneva, offers moviegoers a different experience. “We are a part of the community and our strengths are who we are in the community,” Branen said. “As our logo says, ‘We Are Your Community Historic Hometown Theater’ and we offer a hometown experience.” After upgrading projection equipment to Sony 4K technology and installing wide leather seats with cup holders, Branen continues to invest in both the theaters. The Plaza is undergoing a facelift with a new paint job, ceiling and fabric panels in the theaters. Future plans for the Geneva Theater include the installation of an old theater organ from New York, sometime next year. The Plaza and Geneva Theaters are 90 years old and were originally built for that very purpose. “Both of those theaters were built in 1928 by a group of men who wanted community theaters,” said Marie Frederick, event coordinator for Branen’s theaters. “We’re so pleased to be still trying to do what they started those theaters for.” WITH A PERSONAL TOUCH And while the two theaters do compete with the “big guys” for movie dollars, the small venues attract sizable TRACY OUELLETTE Spirit of Geneva Lakes

We get to know our customers and they get to know us.” crowds by offering a personal touch and communityorientated events. “We’ve made sure we’re offering things that the Marcus’ have like gift certificates, gift packages, beer and wine and food options, but then we do things that a chain doesn’t do well, or can, and that’s the personal community touch like trivia contests before the premiers and other activities,” Frederick said. “When the LEGO movie came out we held free LEGObuild competitions with the kids from the audience,” she continued. “We have costume contests with the characters for the premiers and staff and the public all dress up. For the Wizard of Oz movie we even brought in a hot air balloon basket for people to take selfies with. We do stuff like that all the time.” A SHARED SUCCESS Frederick said people like the fact the theaters are familyowned by community members and have the knowledge that the money they spend at the theater goes back into their own community. “That’s what makes us special,” she said. “We know the people coming through the doors and they know us. I mean, who doesn’t remember their first movie? That’s important to have these community theaters open and thriving for families to make those lasting memories at.” One of the special moments at The Plaza and Geneva Theaters is when Branen or staff give the introductions to a new movies. It’s one of those personal touches that the community responds to, Frederick said. “That’s just one of those things we do that bigger theaters
– Shad Branen don’t,” Branen said. “The experience is different here because we’re different. We get to know our customers and they get to know us.” “Community is such a part of Shad’s DNA,” Frederick said. “There isn’t a week that goes by that he’s not donating movie passes, and he never raises an eyebrow at how many. When I give the intros to the movies, that’s what I’m thinking about and how supportive the community is of us. I always remember to thank everyone for coming and supporting us because when they do that, they’re supporting a business that puts its money back into the community in returned donations and opportunities for the people who live here.” LIVE ON STAGE Frederick said the Geneva Theater not only offers movies, it has a stage that she fills with various entertainment throughout the year. “That’s a big part of my job, lining up community groups and organizations to fill that stage,” she said. “Just last night, 110 people came to see the ‘It’s a Wonderful Life Radio Show.’ It wasn’t even a full play, just a radio show and it was packed.” The Geneva Theater hosts a monthly comedy night this year. DANCING HORSES THEATER OFFERS SHOWS TO CHASE THE CHILL by Heather Ruenz STAFF WRITER
Dana Montana’s dream to open what is now The Dancing Horses Theater began roughly 20 years ago. “I had raised horses for 30 years and went to horse shows and all of that but didn’t feel like that was how I wanted to present them. Then I met Laura Amandes, who had previously worked at a big Arabian Nights show in Florida,” Montana said. “I hired her and then on my birthday, she surprised me with a show. She had trained my stallion. It was the most moving thing I’ve ever seen, so I decided that’s what I wanted to do,” she said. And Montana did. It began with small shows at a variety of locations until the current property became available. Now, Montana has a crew of 10 people that run the shows, which feature about 25 horses, each trained in specific disciplines. “It’s amazing that the show is done by a very small staff. They do everything from beginning to end and a lot in between,” she said. During the holidays The Dancing Horses Theater presents a special “Magic of the Holiday Season” show. It features classic holiday music, sparkling costumes and new acts, according to production manager Charlotte Reynolds. “All of our shows have something that appeals to anyone, including our holiday show. Kids like the unicorns and entertainment while adults enjoy the music and are impressed with the talent,” Reynolds said. “Adults love the Frank Sinatra stuff and in the Christmas show we have Burl Ives – you can’t go

wrong,” Montana added. Reynolds said though the older adults enjoy the classic music selections, the shows feature a variety including popular, modern pieces. Montana said live shows are fading, making what she offers even more important to continue. “It costs too much overall, especially with animals. We’re one of the few things remaining that families can do as far as seeing a live show,” Montana said. “And it really is suitable for anyone. I’ve seen 2-year-olds mesmerized the entire time.” The theater works with area hotels to get more publicity out and offer deals but Montana said she’s still surprised at the number of people who attend a show and say they just learned of it. “Even (Lt. Governor) Rebecca Kleefisch attended with her children and said it’s one of the best kept secrets,” Montana said. One of the keys to the success of The Dancing Horses has been the internship program, which allows interns to live on the property and learn what it takes to put on a show while also gaining valuable experience. “It helps them learn all facets of the business from those looking to get into horse entertainment to the production side of things with the lights and music,” Reynolds said. The hectic holiday season is in the rearview mirror, and many folks have reneged on starting their New Year’s resolutions. Some children have grown bored with their new Christmas presents, while many parents may be tired of telling said kids to find something to do. For anybody already suffering from the winter doldrums, even during a mild one such as southern Wisconsin has enjoyed so far, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater’s Young Auditorium may have a solution – or many solutions. Aaron Wesolowski, the venue’s marketing director, said the Young Auditorium diligently works to provide a myriad musical, theatrical, cultural and participatory events that satisfy all tastes. After all, it’s in the entertainment business, running basically September through April. “We gear our schedule to three different audiences,” he said. “We provide entertainment for adult
sensibilities, we do things that are educational and entertaining for kids and we offer things for our students that are at a higher educational level, events of a more theatrical and cultural nature.” But plenty of the auditorium’s events appeal to patrons of all ages and interests. And it can draw bigger and better acts and shows, especially from January through March, something other smaller venues cannot. “Our schedule is highlighted by the touring Broadway shows,” Wesolowski said. “They usually come here for only one night, so we can pass those savings onto our ticket buyers. So we can offer top entertainment at a price point our patrons can afford.” One such performance was “Jersey Boys,” which sold out the 1,300-seat auditorium in October 2017 and will return to the Whitewater stage at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7. It is recommended for ages 12 and older. Another big show will be “Rent,” which is scheduled on April 20. “(‘Jersey Boys’) is a quality production, and we’re hoping for many returning customers, but we’re also for

those who haven’t seen the show.” Wesolowski said Young Auditorium continually seeks ways to strengthen its connections to the greater community. “One of our goals is becoming an integral part of the community and serve as a resource,” he said. Two upcoming back-to-back events are good examples of building those relationships. • Family Fun Day is planned from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, and provides a time for participants to exercise their minds and their bodies. Kohl’s Wild Theatre presents “Wisconsin Wonderland,” a combination of short musicals that teach children about habitat preservation, animal adaptation, hibernation and migration. It is free, but tickets are required. The event features an obstacle course, carnival games, face painting, a hands-on activity table, family yoga and mindfulness activities and a preview of new STEM kits from Irvin L. Young Memorial Library. “It’s our first Family Fun Day and good way to get rid of any post-holiday blues out,” Wesolowski said. • The Missoula Children’s Theatre will present “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23. Ticket prices range from $9.50 to $14.50. The nation’s largest touring children’s theater starts with a team arriving with a set, lights, costumes, props and make-up, everything it takes to put on a play – except the cast. The visiting team holds an open audition
and casts 50 to 60 local students to perform in the production. Auditions for children in grades K-12 will be held at 4 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 18. Bush spent 15 years creating costumes for Old World Wisconsin – a state-run living history museum – and thus she is very knowledgeable about historic costuming. The clothing she provided for the museum was created just as they would have been in that era. Costumes worn by docents at Old World Wisconsin go through the wear and tear that everyday clothes often do. They require replacing buttons, mending

These alterations require the use of a careful and steady hand as the fabrics of wedding gowns may be quite delicate and a mistake may be readily noticeable. “Taking in gowns that are a bit too large in one or several places is much easier than having to let out a gown that is too tight,” Bush said. “Often gowns are made with very little extra materials in the seams. It may be necessary to add a gusset – extra material along the seam – to make the gown larger. Finding material to match the gown may be difficult.” But somehow Bush manages to make the alterations without changing the look of the dress. Many of the alterations that she does for weddings are because the event is a destination wedding in the Lake Geneva area. With the bride far from where the dress was purchased, it is often necessary to find a seamstress for those last-minute alterations. For a very special wedding dress, some brides to be bring in a picture of the dress that they love and Bush will recreate it, sometimes adding a special touch to make it truly the bride’s own. If a bride doesn’t have a picture of the dress they envision, Bush will work with them to design a custom gown. With the popularity of themed weddings, many brides are seeking a vintage look in their dress. It’s a style that Bush loves to create. She will work with the bride to create that interesting bridal gown whether it is a Victorian look, a 1920s flapper style, or a World War I or II style. She said she loves to work with old fabrics and old lace to create a beautiful look for the bride, the bridesmaids and even for some of the guests at a themed wedding. In year’s past millinery was another important handmade item to complete any outfit. Bush also creates fine quality and authentic hats for weddings. These custom-made headpieces give the bride a very special look. She enjoys recreating historic dresses, especially those from the 1900s, which she describes as “Appealing to all ages. A chipped nail on the bride’s hand is a disaster to that bride and she will always be reminded when she looks at her wedding pictures and sees that chip. “Weddings are popular year-round but especially in summer and fall so we recommend that you contact us to schedule your bridal party’s day as soon as you set the wedding date,” Rau said. “During busy times the spots fill up quickly and at times we may have two to four bridal parties a day. Once you contact us we will send you a contract outlining what services you wish to have.” “We can service up to 15 members of the bridal party at one time,” she added. “Arrangements can be made for the groom or groomsman to receive haircuts or trims so everyone is in top shape.” To add to the fun, the bridal party may bring in snacks and beverages, such as mimosas, to enjoy during their services. Weddings may have a traditional romantic theme, the popular country or barn theme, or a vintage, garden, or whimsical theme. Whatever the choice a couple makes, there is a cake to fit the theme. Butter cream holds up well to keep the cake looking fresh throughout the wedding reception until it is time to cut and serve it.” Wedding cakes no longer have to be plain white cakes nor are they necessarily round. They are available in many flavors, fillings and shapes. “White cakes are still the most popular choice for wedding cakes, often with almond or lemon fillings,” Olesen said. Some may choose another filling such as strawberry or raspberry. Cakes may be very simple or very ornate according to Olesen. On the ornate side was a fountain
cake that they designed. Different shape cakes and cakes with layers of different heights will give the cake a unique look. Have you been at a wedding that had a groom’s cake? These are often a chocolate cake and may be decorated with a sports theme if the groom has a favorite team or have the look of a tuxedo. The groom’s cake may be a complete large cake or individual-sized cake to take home. A trend in wedding cakes is to have a smaller wedding cake with a large selection of smaller sweets on the dessert table. These may include individual groom’s cakes, petit fours, fruit tarts, specialty brownies, or custom decorated cookies. Something to please everyone is today’s trend. After the big question has been popped and the answer is “Yes!” months of diligent planning commence. From engagement parties, to showers, to the big day, there are lots of decisions to be made. And often times the lesser talked about, yet equally important, rehearsal dinner has taken a back seat. But in recent years with more destination weddings and grand “wedding weekends” being planned, the rehearsal dinner is now considered an integral part of the festivities. Here are some current trends when it comes to the night before the wedding:
• Venues
In the past, most rehearsal dinners were smaller affairs and easily held at a relative’s home or in a favorite restaurant. While both are still popular choices, if your guest list exceeds capacity at these locations, check with the local chamber, your wedding planner, or the hotel where you are staying for suggestions. Private rooms, tents, or stand-alone venues which can accommodate 30 or more guests are now widely available. It is wise to reserve well in advance.
• Food and beverage
• Who hosts
Traditionally the parents of the groom are in charge. Though today, it isn’t uncommon to see the cost and planning split between both sets of parents, or the bride and groom might take the responsibility of this night on themselves.
• Who attends
The bridal party plus dates/spouses and immediate family should always attend, and it is common to see other close relatives/ friends join in this special night. Tradition suggests it is proper to include out of town guests as well, but if this is a destination wedding and most guests are traveling to attend, you may want to consider a smaller rehearsal dinner and either set up an alternative event for additional guests to attend or provide suggestions for

Offering something different and a bit more casual is generally preferred – such as a pizza party, themed buffet, or a traditional plated dinner. Offering a full or limited open bar is typical, though cash bars are not uncommon. It is a good idea to discuss all bar options and expectations in detail ahead of time.
• Decorations
A recent trend in decorating has been more is more. Though, you should never outshine the wedding reception, incorporating hints of the bridal colors or other décor reflecting the couple will give the evening a more personal touch. Julie K. Originally the site of the Veterans Memorial Building, Veterans Terrace was expanded and updated in 2009 to transform the facility into a modern, yet classic, events venue. In the past year Veterans Terrace experienced management changes resulting in new and exciting wedding packages in a fresh venue. Beth Reetz, who had been employed at the venue as an event manager, left in 2016 but returned to assume the job
of general manager in May of 2018. “New changes are always underway. Several new projects to continue to upgrade the facility are being considered,” she said. According to Reetz, the goal is to maintain Veterans Terrace as the most beautiful and exciting wedding venue in the area. It is already a popular venue attracting both local bridal couples and those looking for a site for a destination wedding. Burlington is not far from Milwaukee,

Steeped in history
The original Veterans Memorial Building was constructed in 1963 and was the home of a variety of activities. It served as a home to the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign War, and the Disabled American Veterans. The Veterans Memorial Building was a popular place, known for wedding receptions as well as local teen dances and concerts. Today, according to Reetz, veteran’s organizations still hold meetings and events here. Community business meetings, family reunions, anniversaries and other community groups also enjoy meeting there. Weddings and receptions, large or small, remain their premier gatherings. According to the website, although the building has been renovated, expanded and has a new look, “the original structure still exists quietly concealed between and within the beautiful new structure which has now been renamed Veterans Terrace.” The renovations have taken

full advantage of the beautiful location. The Memorial Terrace faces Echo Park, with its beautiful green grass and trees along with a gazebo and winds around the side of the building to face the spectacular view of the White River and Echo Lake. While it seems that the venue is out in the country, in reality it is in downtown Burlington on the edge of the historic district.
A variety of packages
There are many different spaces and packages to consider. “Our basic package includes the space, linens, tables and chairs and the event manager,” Reetz said. “We have recently purchased new Chiavarri chairs, which are now used at the receptions. We also provide the bar and the bartenders although cost of the liquor is separate. We try to remain competitive with other venues and affordable.” The Chiavarri chairs are elegant, lightweight, and decorative, which reduces the need for chair covers as seen at some weddings. Liberty Hall is
the largest space in the facility at 6,000 square feet. It is a beautiful room with windows on three sides overlooking the water and the park. Any bride will fall in love with the room, which is light and airy and opens out to a wrap-around balcony and the outdoor terrace. Liberty Hall can accommodate 400 guests for a sit-down dinner or a buffet. The views from the windows or from the terrace are spectacular especially at sunset as the sun descends over Echo Lake. Use of the outdoor balcony is included and guests may wander out to enjoy a drink on the balcony or merely to enjoy the beautiful view. Patriot Hall is a smaller venue of 2,000 square feet. It is often used as the site of an indoor wedding ceremony. It is appropriately sized for a smaller reception with 50 to 110 guests. Patriot Hall is also used as the setting for the cocktail hour for some weddings. The Stars and Stripes Room is smaller than the other two at 1,200 square feet. It can hold 30-70 guests and is usually used as cocktail room. During the week, veterans’ organizations and community businesses often hold their meetings there.
Decorative options

There are full hall lighting packages using color and lights to create a romantic dreamscape. The outdoors is also lighted with lights on the dam. The colors can be changed so that the bride’s colors reflect on the dam. Each bride can pick her own style. Is it the high-end look with crystal glasses and rose bouquets as a centerpiece? Or will it be a more rustic look with burlap accents, rustic lanterns and wood slice centerpieces fitted with mason jars and candles? Each bride is different. For some brides it will be a combination of both styles. “With our decorating packages the bridal party does not have to do any work,” Reetz said. “We put it all up and after the reception we take it all down. It is up to the individual whether they prefer to have it all done for them or put it together themselves. Almost all the bridal couples choose to have the decorating packages and avoid the extra work and stress of removing decorations after the reception.” “We always strive to make it as easy as possible for the bride by doing all that we can,” she added. “However if they prefer a hands-off approach and wish to do all the decorating themselves we will stand aside.” The building is so large and there are so many areas that no two weddings are exactly the same. According to Beth Reetz, about 80 percent of the weddings at Veterans Terrace have the marriage ceremony on site. The majority of these

With any outdoor activity there is always the fear of inclement weather. If there would happen to be rain, the ceremony would just be moved inside to one of the other spaces, Patriot Hall is one space that can be used to move the wedding ceremony indoors. When not pressed into service for the ceremony, Patriot Hall may be the scene of the cocktail hour or it may be used for a small wedding reception. If the couple prefers an indoor wedding and it is a very large wedding it may be held in Liberty Hall. No matter which site is chosen for the ceremony, it will be beautiful. Small wedding receptions are also held on the terrace. They may consist of cocktails and appetizers or perhaps a buffet. On the outdoor terrace new fire features bring a warm glow to the space. Some of the smaller indoor rooms are often rented as a place for the bridal party to get ready for the wedding or they may be a space for friends and family to wait until the reception starts. Whatever the need, Veteran’s Terrace will work with couples to create the wedding of their dreams. A list of preferred vendors is provided. These include caterers, DJs, florists, hair salons, photographers, formal wear rentals, bakeries and nearby hotels. While these are all vendors that have provided excellent service, they are not required. The bridal party may bring in a vendor of choice. Whatever choices are made, the bridal party will have a beautiful and unique wedding designed just for them. Every couple must step out on the terrace to view the beautiful and romantic sunset. A photograph taken there is a must and will create a lasting memory. “Approximately 70 to 80 weddings are held here each year. Saturdays are the most popular but in the summer Friday nights are also used,” Reetz said. Because of the popularity of the venue, it is recommended that couples book their date as soon as you choose one to avoid being disappointed.

Lawn Resort, the event is presented by Gift of Wings Kites and WinterFun, Inc. While the kite flying expositions will be hosted on Delavan Lake, ice carvers and snow sculptures will be stationed throughout the downtown Delavan area and Lake Lawn Resort. With their name brand clothes in a wide range of sizes, it is a favorite place to upgrade a wardrobe at reasonable prices. “All the clothing that we accept is only gently used,” Burhop said. “They must be in mint condition, clean and on hangers to be considered for consignment.” Vintage hats are on display throughout the store in various styles and colors. Many of them are from the 1940s, a time when women wore hats to every event. Burhop said many of the hats in the 1940s mimicked the shape and style of hats worn in the military, perhaps as a tribute to those fighting in World War II. Reflections of the Past is also one of the
few resale shops that offer men’s clothing. While the selection in the men’s department is not as large as those for women, it focuses on some current styles but also includes western clothing and some historical pieces. Looking for a shirt for a Hawaiian themed party? Reflections has it. A large area of the store is devoted to theatrical costumes. “We are known for our theatrical costumes and some of the live theater presentations come here for their costumes,” Burhop said. “Our busiest time in the costume department is October as people look for really unique and authentic Halloween costumes.

“December is also a busy time as costumes are needed for live nativity scenes and also for themed Christmas parties.” With the popularity of theme weddings, a visit to the theatrical costume area may be the place to visit to find the perfect look. Whether it is a western style or a ‘50s style wedding there is sure to be an outfit to fit the occasion. Check out the poodle skirts from the ‘50s. Shoppers will even find those cute little beaded purses that women carried on dressy occasions from the late 1800s and into the flapper area. Some are hand beaded and make a wonderful accent item to complete a vintage outfit. Or it may add a vintage statement to a modern dress making a truly unique look. In addition to her love of the store, Burhop founded a no-kill cat shelter, Touched By a Paw, which is housed behind the resale shop. “Caring for stray cats took me through a very difficult time in my childhood,” she said. “I would go outside at night onto our porch and feed and provide blankets for the stray cats to stay warm. Here I noticed stray cats behind the store and began providing some space and food for them in the storeroom behind the store.” Run by volunteers, all donations go directly to the care of the cats. In 1991 Jim and Judy Kutzler opened an antique store on Highway 50 in the former River Bend Plumbing Supply building. By February 2002 they moved their business to its present location, 26301 75th St. (Highway 50) in Salem. Here in a 10,000 square-foot antique mall that is filled with booths from 100 dealers, a variety of interesting and collectible items are displayed. According to Jim Kutzler, the mall offers a large variety of merchandise from collector’s items to unique kitchen supplies and even large pieces of furniture. There is always something unique and different to be found as one peruses the booths of the different dealers. Many collectors have booths, which are rented on a monthly basis, to sell some of their collectibles. Collectibles include a variety of different items from the petite, such as antique sewing needles, to the grandfather clocks on display. However, according to Kutzler, the way people shop for antique furniture items has changed. “They no longer come in looking for a complete bedroom set. Rather they want one unique piece as an accent piece to add character to the room,” he said. There are several early 1900s chests and dressers that work well as a focal point. Another unique item is a wooden butter churn. While it probably would not be used to churn butter today, it will give a kitchen a country farmhouse look of days past. Also popular, according to Kutzler, are cast iron frying pans. They are often sought by chefs and by those who enjoy camping. While most are familiar with Corning Ware, one may not be aware of the various patterns that have been used on the traditionally white pans that were first described as being used from oven to table. The original pans had the blue cornflower then over the years different designs appeared such as the Scandinavian logos and the delicate orange poppies A visit to Always Remember That Antiques is an interesting way to spend a day. While wandering through the various booths there is always something to catch your eye. Remember those little school desks from your childhood? You may see one or two at the mall. Whether it’s something you feel you need to purchase to add to your home or just something that brings back memories of your childhood, it will be an interesting day. Always Remember That Antiques respects and honors veterans, especially those still serving their country on active duty overseas. The antique mall serves as a donation drop off for items to be shipped to the service personnel. Among the items they recommend donating are phone calling cards, books, batteries, socks in black or olive cotton or wool, and travel-size personal care items.
