9:53 a.m. – vandalism to the bathroom at Harris Park on South Wright Street. Officers arrived with staff from DPW. Took photos. There were pieces of glass everywhere and the trash knocked over. The lock was broken.

11:33 a.m. – CSO observed vehicle that had been parked several days in the school parking lot on East Geneva Street. Vehicle is being rented by the school district.

2:41 p.m. – vehicle parked in the bank parking lot on North Washington Street.

Small dog is shaking and left alone in the vehicle. Located the dog. It appeared happy and healthy. There was a blanket in the front seat for the dog. Made contact with the vehicle owner. Was advised to leave dog at home if planned to be away from vehicle for extended periods of time.

8:17 p.m. – officer observed wash bay garage door open on South Lincoln Street.

Checked interior and no one

inside. All appeared to be okay and just and oversight.

Door secure.

11:50 p.m. – observed car driving through parking lot of closed business. Spoke to subject who is in the market for a new car and was looking.

Advised to come back during business hours.

Jan. 4 2:46 a.m. – officer observed vehicle on ramp with hazards on Highway 12. Child had to use restroom. Officer gave direction to closest facility. All okay.

6:01 p.m. – dispatched to snowmobile driving in city limits on West Walworth Street. Checked area and did not locate.

11:59 p.m. – west side garage doors open on South Lincoln Street. Interior checked all was okay. Officer turned breakers off.

Jan. 5 12:38 a.m. – vehicle with no rear lights on East Market Street. Driver was involved in a hit and run recently so just got the car back. Advised they would take it back to get looked at. Verbally warned and continued the rest of the way with hazards on.

2:55 p.m. – officer observed vehicle violating the posted speed limit on East First Avenue. Vehicle stopped

7:13 a.m. – two car crash on East First Avenue. Both drivers stated they were unsure who had the right way at the intersection and waited for the other to go. Both went crashing into one another.

10:11 a.m. – semi tire in the roadway just north of 67 by the exit ramp, semi is parked at the bridge on southbound Interstate 43.

11:10 a.m. – officer assisted with taking subject into custody on County Trunk H. Subject turned over to jail staff without incident.

12:28 p.m. – subject called to report Honda had broke

down and was on side of the road and tow would not be there for a couple hours on southbound Interstate 43.

4:32 p.m. – Lake Geneva requesting an officer attempt to make contact on North Lincoln Street. License plate was found in the road and is at the PD. Message relayed and LGPD notified.

6:38 p.m. – officer dispatched to a subject who was acting suspicious inside the store saying that he was there to make a lot of money on East Geneva Street. Car description given. Officer located a similar vehicle running plate and made contact.

He thought they were joking around and apologized.

7:17 p.m. – asked to use the phone trying to get to Delavan on South Lincoln Street. Officer located male walking.

He advised he was released from jail. Attempted phone numbers but none worked.

City of Delavan advised they could meet halfway for the transport, turned over without incident.

Court blotter

The following people were charged with these Class H and I felony offenses between Jan. 6 and 8:

Class H Class H, punishable by up to six years in prison and $10,000 in fines: Child abuse • Terry L. Bronson, 54, of Macon, Georgia; physical abuse of a child, intentionally causing bodily harm; two counts of neglecting a child; and disorderly conduct. Bronson’s 14- and 15-year-old children had been on the road with their father and had not been in school since they lost their house in 2018, according to the complaint.

Police encountered the children at Love’s Travel Station in Elkhorn at about 11:55 p.m.

Jan. 2 when a witness reported the kids had been inside Hardee’s since about 1 p.m. that day. At that time, the girl, 15, said Bronson became upset with her and was pulling her by the leg so her 14-year-old brother jumped on Bronson’s back, and Bronson pressed his forearm against the boy’s neck, making it difficult for the boy to breathe, the complaint states.

Threat to officer • Joshua T. Egan, 27, of Lake Geneva; threat to a law enforcement officer; and two counts each of resisting an officer, disorderly conduct and misdemeanor bail jumping.

Egan was kicked out of two bars in Lake Geneva for being disorderly on Dec. 23 and was arrested at Kwik Trip because he was under bond conditions on previous charges that included not going to any bars or taverns, according to the criminal complaint. Egan resisted arrest and swore at, tried to kick and threatened officers during his arrest at Kwik Trip and later at Aurora Lakeland Medical Center, and had to be physically restrained, the complaint states.

Strangulation • Carmelo Gonzalez II, 31, of Darien; strangulation and suffocation with domestic abuse assessment; and two counts of disorderly conduct, one with domestic abuse assessments.

A resident of an apartment complex in Darien saw Gonzalez choke his girlfriend on Dec.

25 and believed the woman was dead because the woman was lying on the floor with her eyes closed as the witness ran from the room to notify police, according to the complaint.

Gonzalez also threatened the apartment manager, who said he hears Gonzalez and the woman argue loudly every day in their apartment, saying, “If you call the cops, there is going to be problems,” according to the complaint.

Class I Class I, punishable by up to 3 ½ years in prison and $10,000 in fines:

Retail theft • John C. Hargan, 35, of Chicago; felony retail theft, intentionally take $500 to $5,000.

Hargan pulled three iPhones off their display stands at U.S. Cellular in Elkhorn on Dec. 5 and left the store with them, according to the complaint.

Hargan is suspected of similar thefts at other U.S. Cellular stores including one in Kenosha and had pawned iPhones at shops in Illinois on five different occasions, according to the complaint.

Drugs • Victor J. Fernandez, 21, of Whitewater; possession of marijuana, second and subsequent offense; and possession of drug paraphernalia. Fernandez was found with 4.3 grams of marijuana and a pipe in his South Janesville Street apartment Dec. 5 after neighbors reported the smell of marijuana consistently coming from his unit, according to the criminal complaint.

Vehicle theft • Daniel R. Schmid, 40, of Kenosha; drive or operate a vehicle without the owner’s consent and two counts of misdemeanor theft. While test driving a truck from a Chevrolet dealership in Lake Geneva, Schmid filled the truck with gas at a Mobil gas station, got a soda and cigarettes and left without paying for the gas or merchandise valued at $85, according to the complaint.

Schmid failed to return the truck in the 15 to 20 minutes of a typical test drive, and the truck was later found in Burlington where Schmid was arrested, according to the complaint.
