They welcome donations of artifacts to add to their collection and offer private tours for clubs and small groups by appointment. Admission is free, but donations are gratefully accepted. The museum is conveniently located on Route 83 in downtown Antioch and is open every Saturday from March to December, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

IAPD is a nonprofit service, research and education organization that serves park districts, forest preserves, conservation, municipal park and recreation and special recreation agencies. “The Lake County Forest Preserves is considered one of the elites in the state in green practices,” IAPD leaders said. “Over the years, we have placed sustainability at the center of every aspect of our work,” said Angelo Kyle, president of the Lake County Forest Preserves. “Our goal is to raise the bar and set the example for others.” “We’re thrilled by this recognition,” said Executive Director Alex Ty Kovach. “It’s a testament to the talent and dedication of our hardworking staff and to the visionary leadership of our elected board of commissioners.” For decades, the Forest Preserves has been committed to ensuring all 31,000 acres function at their highest ecological level, said Kovach. More recently, the agency dedicated itself to ensuring new and retrofitted facilities will be models of long-lasting, energy-efficient design. Four net-zero energy Forest Preserve buildings are complete, under construction or in the engineering phase. Other initiatives range from reducing mowed turf, transitioning to hybrid passenger vehicles, and introducing electric light-duty maintenance vehicles, to purchasing only compostable cups at the wildly popular Beer Garden at Independence Grove. The latter effort alone will divert an estimated 40,000 cups annually from landfills. The Fox Chain O’Lakes, spanning 7,200 acres, is the largest inland wateroriented recreational asset in Northeastern Illinois. Located about 40 miles northwest of Chicago on Illinois Routes 173 and 12, near the towns of Antioch and Fox Lake, it offers easy access to the minor cities of Chicago and Milwaukee.
In addition to hotels, motels, and resorts with cottages in the marina area, you’ll
find numerous marinas, restaurants, pubs, bait and tackle stores, and recreational lakefronts.
When enjoying the Chain, safety should be your number one concern. Make sure all your equipment is in working order, avoid overloading your boat, and refrain from running it at high speeds in unfamiliar areas. Be courteous to everyone around you and help where needed.
According to a survey conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Chain sees an average of 60,000 people on weekends and up to 100,000 people on holidays.
The Illinois Department of Conservation is closely monitoring the future of the Chain, recently expanding both the walleye
and muskellunge populations throughout the area.
With over 40 species of fish in desirable sizes and numbers, the Fox Chain provides the best fishing experience in Northern Illinois, attracting anglers from all over.

Antioch will be transformed into a Wizard Village with new contests, games, and magical moments for all ages. This year’s event has been carefully planned to double your fun and to create a truly magical experience for everyone. Your day ends with a Finale at the Great Hall where you will receive Wizard Swag and meet the Professors and Wizards for photo ops!
First, start your magical adventure by
purchasing a Magical Band either online in advance or at the Wizards Ministry of Magic Booth to unlock your magical experiences and receive your Marauders Map. The Ministry of Magic Information Booth is located on Main Street.
Your magical map will guide you through the various magical moments, scavenger hunts, activities, and magical characters throughout downtown. Your wristband gives you entrance to the Village experiences and the Wizard Finale at the Great Hall and a Wizard Swag gift too!
Kids Hogwarts School of Magic is open in the morning for children ages 7 to 13. Students will be sorted into magical groups and be educated in 8 magical classes such
as Defense Against the Dark Arts and Care of Magical Creatures, Broom Flying, Mandrakes, and so much more. Tickets are limited, so be sure to purchase them in advance at AntiochChamber.org.
While the little wizards and witches are at Hogwarts, parents can explore the Wizard Village Shops and enjoy the magical atmosphere. With the purchase of a Magical Band, you can pick up your Marauders Map at the Ministry of Magic Booth and discover all the magical moments or scavenger hunts inside the shops.
