Valencia Orange Quick Bread Recipe
Prep Time: 20 mins • Bake In: 40 mins • 2 servings
Ingredients
3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
3 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon grated (Valencia) orange rind
1/2 to 3/4 cup sugar (use more sugar for a more cakelike consistency)
1 egg
1/2 cup Valencia Orange juice
1 1/4 cups milk
2 tablespoons melted shortening
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 F. Sift flour, baking powder and salt together in a large bowl.
Combine and add grated orange rind and sugar.
Combine and add egg, orange juice, milk and melted shortening.
Pour the liquid mixture into the bowl. Combine all ingredients with a few swift strokes. Stir lightly until barely blended.
Bake the bread in two greased loaf pans about 40-50 minutes or until done.

Meyer Lemon Bushes produce blooms and fruit very quickly, sometimes arriving with blooms ready for pollination. Meyer Lemon Bushes can often times resemble dwarf meyer lemon trees, but instead of a prominent trunk, there are low lateral branches that over time, with appropriate pruning, can even become similar to bonzai in appearance. Hale Groves Peach Bacon Basil Burger
Prep Time: 20 mins • Cook Time: 30 mins • 6 servings
Ingredients
1½ lbs. ground sirloin
2 Tbsp. pickled jalapeño peppers, chopped
2 Tbsp. pickled jalapeño pepper juice
1tsp. kosher salt
6 thick bacon slices
1small sweet onion, sliced
½ c. peach chutney
4ounces goat cheese, softened
6 hamburger buns, toasted
1medium peach, sliced
Fresh basil leaves
Directions
Pre-heat grill to medium-high heat. Combine ground sirloin, peppers, pepper juice, and salt and gently shape into six 4-inch patties.
Cook bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crisp (about 8 minutes). Remove and drain on paper towels. Reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon drippings in skillet; increase heat to medium-high, and sauté onion until tender (about 6 minutes). Remove from heat and stir in chutney.
Grill patties with grill lid closed until beef is no longer pink in center (about 4 to 5 minutes each side). Top with cheese and serve on hamburger buns with onion mixture, bacon, peach slices, and basil leaves.
