INDEPENDENCE WEEK | JUNE 29 - JULY 5
The Fourth of July in the North Georgia mountains still looks the way it used to. Flags go up on the courthouse and the post office. Small-town parades run the length of Main Street. After sunset, fireworks crack over the lake while porches stay lit with citronella and the last of the charcoal.
With the holiday on a Saturday, the calendar around it stretches. A Wednesday check-in turns into a full week. The offer below takes the edge off the peak-week rate. Below that, a local event worth planning around.

Downtown Blue Ridge Old Timers’ Parade
This parade started in the 1950’s and it is a time for all of Blue Ridge to come together and celebrate the 4th of July as well as the way Blue Ridge, Georgia used to be. Bring your antique vehicles, dress in period attire or not, it’s up to you!

Festive 4th of July fireworks will light up the night sky near the Lake Blue Ridge Dam, offering incredible views from multiple locations.
Hiawassee Fireworks at Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds Fireworks at the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds with live music (3 PM–9:45 PM) and a boat parade on Lake Chatuge.
Dahlonega Fourth of July Celebration
A full day of traditional small-town festivities in the historic downtown square. Known for its patriotic atmosphere, the event typically includes a 5K race, a car show, a parade, live music, and fireworks at the University of North Georgia.
Downtown Ellijay Fireworks
Don’t miss the 4th of July Parade as it rolls through downtown, featuring decorated floats, community groups, and plenty of red, white, and blue. Stick around after the sun goes down for a fireworks show at dusk to cap off the evening.
Blairsville Fourth of July Celebration at Vogel State Park July 4th in Blairsville features a full day of activities at Vogel State Park, including a 5K, parade, and concert, paired with evening fireworks at Meeks Park.
Alpine Helen Fireworks
Head to Helen for the annual display of beautiful fireworks. The fireworks will be held at dusk (between 9PM & 9:30PM) behind the Alpine Village Shoppes and Helen Welcome Center
