COVID-19 Response The College will continue to closely monitor the evolving challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and will keep under review the relevant government guidance to ensure that the health and safety of our students and staff is maintained. In order to protect our students and maintain the ongoing quality of teaching and support, the College may have to implement certain amendments or other such reasonable adjustments in relation to your time of study at the College.

This is an excellent way to equip your workforce with professional skills training and qualifications, whilst they are earning a wage.

SERC also offers Higher Level Apprenticeships at Levels 4 & 5 which ensure you can develop a workforce with advanced technical skills now and in the future to help improve productivity and retention of staff.

UPSKILLING AND RESKILLING OPPORTUNITIES

The Flexible Skills Fund will launch in September 2021 as part of the Economic Recovery Action Plan for Northern Ireland. The Fund will be responsive to the needs of the local economy, helping upskill and boost productivity. About our Programmes InnovateUS InnovateUs provides bespoke mentoring support for small and micro businesses that will lead to improved levels of company creativity and business growth through new and improved product and service development. The programme, which is funded by the Department for the Economy, provides up to 60 hours of fully funded mentoring in a number of key areas including, Engineering - CAD, CNC, product design & development and Digital transformation. Businesses can avail of up to 3 projects and eligibility has now been extended to Social Enterprises.

Skills Focus With changing customer demand and technological advances, more businesses need to upskill their staff. Through Skills Focus, SERC can provide tailored training suitable for your business needs, delivered at a time and place to suit you. The Department for the Economy can provide financial support to cover the cost, while SERC will provide the expertise to ensure training is relevant to your needs. Eligibilityfor the programme has now been extended to include Social Enterprises.

Taking part in a KTP can help you to develop your business by helping you get the academic expertise that you don’t have in-house. This expertise can help your business perform better and become more competitive and productive.

SERC can work with you to agree on a strategic project, while our lecturer will mentor the graduate throughout the duration of employment, ensuring they bring expertise and innovation to the project. As KTP is part funded up to two thirds of the costs of employing the graduate are funded by Innovate UK.

To achieve a Professional Recognition Award the candidate must provide evidence of their competency for each standard which is assessed by an approved centre & then veri ed by City & Guilds experts.

Successful candidates are also granted appropriate post nominals (LCGI, AfCGI, GCGI or MCGI). A piece of evidence may be used to cover more than one of the standards. The standards can be met collectively and holistically, rather than one by one.

COURSE OVERVIEW This qualification is designed to build the knowledge and skills needed when working with children 0-12, however, workplacement will involve working with children no older than 6. All students must have attained a placement with the 0-6 age group before joining this programme. This is a 2 year course.

To achieve this quali cation learners need to complete all mandatory units, plus optional units to ensure credits for Diploma ful lled.

Part time Option: (One year course) The course covers units that will enable students to work unsupervised with children up to the age of 6 in various settings. Students must be working in this eld for a minimum of 20 hours a week. This must be a registered setting e.g. nursery, daycare or other early years settings. Child minding is not included.

The course consists of mandatory units which are complimented by optional units.

This quali cation is based on the Skills for Care & Development National Occupational Standards (NOS). The NOS assessment requirements/strategy and quali cation structure(s) are owned by Skills for Care & Development and a minimum credit value of 65 credits. Covers the age range from birth to 6 years old. Requires the learner to spend a minimum of 600 hours in a real work environment and is suitable for di erent types of learners, including those in full time formal learning, those in part time formal learning and those in full time employment.
