Etwall Well Dressing Festival - 50th!

This year the Village will be celebrating 50 years of Well Dressing in Etwall. It all began back in 1970 with just two well dressings - this year there will be eight sites to visit around the village, as well as the opportunity to have-a-go, under expert supervision, in our demo tent. Both churches will also have themed floral decoration. You can watch one of this year’s well dressings being made between 1114 May (the week before the Festival) by phoning 01283 734233 or 0781 2025833, or emailing: cliffndes@btinternet.com, for an appointment. The Blessing of the Wells Service will take place at around midday on the Saturday to officially open the Festival. NGS Open Gardens – Repton Village The village gardens are all very different, ranging from the very small to very large, several of them have new features for 2020.

Askew Cottage is a professionally designed garden and has many structural features linked together by curving paths. 22 Pinfold Close is a small garden but is packed full with a special interest in tropical plants. Repton Allotments is a small set of allotments currently undergoing a revival with community area, new polytunnel and attractive views across Derbyshire.

Delightful herbaceous borders fill this former pub garden, transformed in five years from a neglected space to a cottage garden idyll. From the courtyard, climb the steps to the large garden with hens, pond and wildflower area. Lush foliage fills the deep shade border whilst delphiniums tower over the colourful herbaceous borders.
