Have You Thought About the Next 15 Years of Your Life?

Would you like to stay in your home as long as possible?

Though we may not like to think about it, we all know that our bodies and our abilities will change as we age “The aging process can be gradual for some, however others can move quickly from independent living to a cane to a walker,” says Joyce Polhamus, Chair of the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Design for Aging Knowledge Community.

So, what can you do to continue living comfortably and safely in the home you love so much?

Planning to Stay

Upgrading may provide you with many additional years in your home, continuing to enjoy your close friendships with neighbors, having your family over for the holidays, volunteering at the school or a local organization, and frequenting your favorite restaurants and stores Upgrading can also give you the peace of mind that comes from knowing improvements often add value to a home. If you have owned your home for some time, the equity might even be enough to pay for the new Master Bath Suite or Gourmet Kitchen of your dreams!

Be Prepared

The best time to plan for the modifications you may need is before you need them. Some changes are quite easy to make while others would be best achieved by teaming with a design professional. Here are a few examples:

Update cabinets to include roll-out shelves and easy to grasp hardware

Consider replacing the tub with a roll-in shower with seat and hand held shower head

Widen hallways to 42" and doors to 36" where possible

Replace outdated windows with higher efficiency glass type

If in a two-story home, consider adding a first floor Maste Suite

You don’t know when your needs will change or how significant those changes might be Although you may not need grab bars in the bathroom or a roll-in shower at this time, designing these and some other suggested features into your remodel now will help you to be prepared for the future if you find you do need them. It’s never too early to create your “forever home.”

Successful Path to Online Marketing Achievement

Many people ask me what it takes to be successful online Well there's no short answer but when done correctly there's simply no better way today for a company to get the exposure it needs to be successful. The internet is truly the only way a small company can look just as big as a major multinational corporation with an unlimited budget With a little bit of help, the smallest mom and pop can capture as many eyeballs as any other large company out there There really is no limitation to what can be achieved online. The best part is all this can be achieved with a small amount of capital.

The key is to follow a clear path that has been proven to be effective and not to waiver Many business owners try to attempt this on their own by buying a book or an expensive program online that promises a get rich quick plan but most marketers give up after hours and hours of time spent and money wasted Like many things in life, sometimes it's best to seek a professional who can shrink or even eliminate the learning curve. Online marketing is no exception

Achieving success online can take years of experience and thousands of dollars in up front capital to find what works and what

panic Unlike the good ol days of marketing where you could send 1000 pieces of direct mail and get 50 phone calls and 10 clients, marketing online is completely different Today, marketing changes so rapidly, what may work this minute might be completely useless in 3 months. Take a break from it for 6 months and watch your business slide off the cliff.

The good news or should I say excellent news is that if you keep abreast of the constant changes, you will have an edge over your competitors like never before Keep reading, studying and applying good techniques and you will beat your competition and have great

doesn't. How do we know this? The team at GoPro is a collection of online marketing professionals and entrepreneurs who have collectively spent over a million dollars marketing their own companies online We have thousands of hours testing and retesting strategies for our own companies We have basically seen it all and can offer this experience to our clients.

There is a clear path to follow in order to have success online. Each step above is vital in order to achieve results. Any deviation from this path can result in failure Systems encompass each step and those systems have to be executed with precision in order to move successfully to the next task If the system is broken at any stage, the slight deviation may mean the difference between success and failure.

If that's not enough pressure, add the intricacies of the internet to the formula and now you have a reason to

success. Read blogs, watch videos, Listen to Gurus and keep learning and you will win!

The Latest in Preventative Medicine

A paradigm shift has occurred in the world of orthopedics Personal perfected posture is now possible for everyone. What does this mean and why is this so important to you?

The latest advancements and research in Podiatric Medicine have improved not just your gait and posture, but also relieves joint pain and prevents complications in the future It may even prevent the need for surgical intervention This article will discuss common causes of chronic pain, as well as the newest preventative treatment

Your feet serve as the foundation for the body. The alignment of the feet not only determines the way you walk, but also determine your posture and balance. Your feet also serve as the buffer for the forces that transfer from the ground to your body and vice versa These forces, including gravity and ground forces, are transferred from the feet all the way up the back

Ideally, when the feet are in proper alignment, people can walk without developing pain long-term However, it is estimated that 95% of the population will have some kind of foot imbalance or misalignment in their lifetime. Common foot problems include bunions, hammertoes, and heel pain. These can be caused by hereditary foot imbalances, injuries, or diseases. Over many years, these foot imbalances may cause abnormal forces to act on your feet, causing pain, which can negatively change the way you walk Other joints in your body, including the ankles, knees, hips, and back, may have to compensate for the imbalance, resulting in the overuse, wear, increased pressure and discomfort to those joints Corrective major surgery may then need to be involved. How can this be resolved, or even prevented, from happening?

The latest in Biomechanical research from Podiatric Medicine has developed the next generation of custom or thotic. Unlike previous custom orthotics, the newest generation maximizes contact with your foot throughout the entire gait cycle With maximum contact, the or thotic realigns the foot into its ideal position, restoring you to your proper balance and posture, reducing abnormal forces from acting on your joints, preventing long-term degeneration These new orthotics are also precisely calibrated to your weight, offering the correct amount of rigidity and flexibility to allow your feet to move through its ideal gait

These new orthotics use a state-ofthe-ar t digital postural analysis, which can determine if and how much these or thotics can correct your imbalance If you currently use or thotics, our digital postural analysis can compare the suppor t they provide with the suppor t our orthotics can give you.

Of par ticular impor tance is the need to prevent foot problems from developing in the first place Many foot problems we face as adults develop during childhood, from foot imbalances not caught and treated early enough. By using these new or thotics, the child’s foot can be placed in its ideal posture, maintaining its corrected posture as they grow into adulthood

Imagine a world where feet are fixed as children. Where our children can enjoy increased performance in spor ts, less pain, injuries and future deformities, and hopefully no surgery for their once worn out knees and hips. Wouldn’t that be a gift we can give our children for a better, more productive world

What’s Love Got To Do With It?

With the ever increasing rise in Alzheimer’s disease and other disabilities that affect our adult population, the time has come to openly discuss who will take care of their day to day needs if their loved ones are not available to assist them. Without advanced planning, people we care about may need a conservator or professional private fiduciary who would be appointed by the probate court. Whoever is chosen, preserving the dignity of our loved ones and protecting them from the various forms of abuse that stalks our society should be paramount in choosing who will fulfill this crucial role

What is a Conservatorship in California?

A California Conservatorship is where a court appoints a person to protect and care for another person or their estate. This person can be a family member, friend, private professional or fiduciary to handle the personal care and/or financial affairs of the Conservatee.

A conservatorship can significantly help families with someone who suffers from a mental illness or who is otherwise unable to care for themselves Rather than forcing a family member to take over, a Conservator becomes the person who is responsible for the care and protection of that person or their finances that can reduce the risk of undue influence, fraud and abuse.

Despite the benefits, many families choose to avoid a conservatorship due to the time and expense to the Conservatee, their estate and the conservatee’s family The expenses include numerous court hearings, attorney fees, as well as compensation of the Conservator

Are There Alternatives to a Conservatorship?

Some of the more common alternatives occur when a future Conservatee has a close friend, a spouse or relative who will aid in their care In this case, the Conservatee could enter a formal or informal arrangement with that person and avoid the need for a conservatorship altogether.

Another alternative is the execution of a Durable Power of Attorney (DPA). With a DPA, the potential Conservatee (the Principle) would appoint another person (the Attorney in Fact) to act on their behalf Depending on the scope of the DPA, the Attorney-in-Fact can make financial, medical, or business decisions for the Principle. A DPA requires the Principal to have the required mental capacity when they sign their DPA so if there are serious concerns about the mental abilities of the Principal upon execution, a DPA may not be an available option to a conservatorship

However, if you have time on your side, proper estate planning can help avoid many costly and unnecessary conservatorship proceedings A revocable living trust, a durable power of attorney and an advance health care directive can all be used together to maximize the benefits for people who plan in advance. A properly drafted and funded revocable living trust can avoid many of the pitfalls of a conservatorship and are only available for people who plan ahead

Is a Private Professional Fiduciary the Answer?

If a Living Trust or DPA have not been already implemented, and mental capacity cannot be determined or there are no close friends or family members available, a private professional fiduciary may be designated to help save time and expense over a conservatorship A fiduciary assumes a position of trust and responsibility and is held to the highest of ethical standards Since July of 2008, professional conservators and other fiduciaries have been required to be licensed by the Professional Fiduciaries Bureau, an entity within the California Department of Consumer Affairs

Even if a family member is available, it still may be in the best interest to have a neutral third party to manage and protect the assets of the vulnerable in order to avoid conflicts within the family California is expected to continue to have the greatest total number of Alzheimer’s cases in the country and will experience significant growth rates by 2025 (Alzheimer ’s Association Study, 2004).

The Professional Fiduciary Association of California (PFAC) is a statewide organization with members dedicated to serving and protecting the best interests of those who have placed their trust in them. You may find a private professional fiduciary in your area by searching http://www pfac-pro org

STANDOUT STUDENT

Julia Solazzo

Santa Margarita Catholic High School

The key to success is setting a goal and then never giving up until you exceed it Without setting a goal, you can only succeed by accident.

SCM: #1 Lesson you've learned last year?

JS: In Africa, I learned that I truly have the power to help save a life Though I recognized the fact, I didn't emotionally accept it until I held abandoned babies in a shanty town orphanage and then, in contrast, played with healthy and happy children rescued by our Acres of Love charity.

SCM: Who is the main person you look up to as a mentor and why?

JS: My father is my mentor and I strive to be more like him every minute of every day He is selfless in every action, loving with all of his heart, humble about his achievements, and the most intelligent person I now

CM:If they made you into a meme, would you be unny, smart, sarcastic or?

S: Definitely funny. I laugh at almost everything. ven when I'm stressed one minute, I'm laughing the ext.

SCM: What do you do in your free time?

JS: I spend free time with people I care about -lose friends and family It's more important whom I am with than what I am doing in my free time.

SCH’s Activities Director John Dowell nominated Derek because “he is about as wellrounded as students come: a great water polo player, president of the ‘Be A Hero Become A Donor’ club, and an academic powerhouse. Derek is well-known among the SCHS student body, teachers and community for his accomplishments.”

SCM: Athletics/philanthropy/studies/other: What's your forte and why?

DC: I challenge myself to do as well as I can. I love everything I do for community service, especially Be a Hero

Become a Donor & Best Buddies BAHBAD is a foundation my family made after the loss of my brother 5 years ago We advocate and provide opportunities for people to “recycle their bodies,” via blood, marrow, cord blood, and organ donation I am responsible for running all blood drives at SC High School; last year we collected

Derek Cousineau San Clemente High School

450 units enough to save almost 1,500 lives and supply 1/3 of the annual blood supply at San Clemente Hospital

SCM: Describe yourself in three words

DC: Passionate, Determined, Dork

SCM: What do you believe is the key to success?

DC: Do the things that make you happy Success is relative Who cares if you accomplished something if you don’t care about yourself? I would say that the key to success is being able to understand what exactly you actually want to do, and actually want to accomplish, and then to have the conviction to do it

SCM: Who is the main person you look up to and w

DC: Definitely my mom. She is such an amazing person and I am inspired by everything she does. She is my everything. And I am absolutely in awe daily by her passion to go out and make a difference in the world. She really does inspire me to become a better person. And I love that she does that for me.

SCM: If they made you into a meme, would you be funny, smart, sarcastic or… ?

DC: Oh, it would be way too sassy for its own good

Pilates & Yoga

During my eight years as a pilates instructor, I have heard one question over and over again “Pilates is like yoga, right?” As an avid yogi, this is one of my favorite questions. Pilates and yoga have many similarities in concept and principle, but are quite different in execution and application.

Yoga in its basic form is a series of poses paired with breath, while pilates is a series of repetitious exer-

cises Both are mind/body methods of movement, meaning the goal is to be present in mind with your body at the time Both promote balance of strength and flexibility as well as harmony of body and mind. The pilates method, based on the work of Joeseph Pilates, emphasizes the mind body connection. Joe believed “it is the mind itself which shapes the body.” Pilates teaches to think not only about what you are doing, but how you are doing it How you perform the exercise is more important than completing the exercise, or how many reps you do It is this attention to detail and body alignment that has made the pilates method so affective

Some of the actual positions in pilates and yoga can closely resemble each other. For example, the pilates up stretch is much like the downward dog in yoga On the surface these two positions do the same thing (lengthening the hamstrings and spine while strengthening the core and arms), but when we look deeper these two positions are quite different in the way they are performed. The down dog is a held pose. The body is active, but does not move. The up stretch is an actively moving exercise incorporating deeper core strength and stability. Pilates emphasizes this deep core strength and stability in all exercises, developing the powerhouse of the body When the core is strong and aligned movement can come more freely through out the body

The pilates method also allows us to step off of the mat, and on to specially designed equipment. The most commonly used piece of apparatus is the reformer. The reformer is a gliding bed with spring based resistance Exercises on the reformer allow both pushing and pulling against resistance that creates a full body workout Resistance training is key in maintaining or increasing muscle mass, and keeping bones and joints strong The easy glide of the reformer creates strength building with very low impact, making it great for ostoeporosis and rehabilitation.

If you are an avid yoga goer I encourage you to try adding some pilates to your routine, and vise versa Pilates and yoga are different, yet similar enough to compliment each other very well Look for the addition of yoga to class schedule at Align Pilates Center in the coming months.

Paradise Jewelers

Paradise Jewelers in San Clemente bears the distinction of being one of the few jewelers in the area specializing in all aspects of the jewelry industry

Owners Rick and Debbie Dunning and their staff not only sell all types of gold, platinum, silver jewelry and loose diamonds, but do expert repairs, custom designing (using 3-D Cam or wax carving), and watch restoration. In most cases, they can repair your jewelry or install new batteries in your watches while-youwait Master Jeweler Eon Kang (30 years at the bench) is not only an excellent stone setter, but according to Rick is "the best solderer either by torch or laser I have ever seen ”

In the past two years, the sale of engagement rings here have doubled– a trend the couple credit to a trio of factors: Extremely low prices on loose diamonds, huge mounting inventory and efficiency and expertise in custom designing wedding rings

"The landscape of the business has changed considerably due to the economy over the last four years,” says Rick. “Our second-hand buying of gold, silver, watches and more was once just a small part of our overall business, but is now off the charts "

Years of experience as an estate buyer gives Rick and Debbie the ability to recognize and pay “a fair price for a customer's treasures."

following year, they watched gold prices begin to soar and decided to put the large inventory they had brought with them to work and get back into the business.

Seven years later, Paradise Jewelers rivals the success of their earlier venture

"We treat all customers with the same respectwhether they are selling $100 or $10,000 in merchandise to us," says Rick. "We pay higher prices than other stores and buy a larger variety of items On any given day, you will see everything from World Series trophies, Babe Ruth signed balls, $1000 bills and Rolex watches - not to mention some of the most beautiful jewelry around."

For the majority of the time Rick and Debbie operated their store in Ohio, the couple built their business strictly by word of mouth "By the time we sold the store, we were selling some third generation customers That's when you know you are doing things right,” says Rick "My business philosophy is simple: There is plenty of business to go around to all the jewelers, but with low prices, excellent service and a huge inventory, you will always get your share of the market "

In 2008, when Rick and Debbie saw the economy start to slip and retail sales begin to fall, Debbie decided it was the perfect time to pursue an entrepreneurial endeavor she had been thinking about for some time: To open a second store of her own with less expensive items

At Paradise II Boutique, Debbie sells beautiful sterling silver jewelry from local designers as well as her own custom creations. New and trendy designs from Italy, US, Israel, Bali and from all over the world adorn her showcases and Debbie is a distributor for many unique accessory collections, including Mary Francis designer handbags, and KBD handmade leather bags and cuffs

Prior to opening the doors to Paradise Jewelers, Rick and Debbie owned and operated a very successful jewelry store in Parma, Ohio called Emerald City Jewelers (named for their daughter ’s bir th month stone) They sold the business a quarter of a century later to their staff and retired to San Clemente in 2005 The

Rick and Debbie are obsessed with offering the largest selection of true antique jewelry from the mid-1800's o 1930's Their ar t deco stock of ings is second to none as well as heir " turn of the century" platinum ecklaces, 100-year-old cameos and oose "old mine cut" diamonds. Pardise is constantly on the lookout for econd-hand Rolex, Cartier and Patek atches to complement their 100 or o antique and modern "used" wristatches and pocket watches.

their free time, Rick and Debbie enjoy everything San Clemente has to offer such as walking the beach trail, eating at their favorite local restaurants or watching a game at Beach Fire. “We feel so fortunate to live and work here in San Clemente and hope you will continue to patronize our stores for a longtime to come."

FriendlyFixIT

We don’t need to talk about all of the possible reasons your computer is running slow or not at all What’s impor tant is knowing who to count on to get it fixed promptly. That’s where Friendly Fix IT comes into play. Open since 2006, they specialize in desktop, laptop and network repair for home and business users. Owner Ben Medina started Friendly Fix It when he realized there was an industry void in the OC “We fix everything from data backups to data transfers when you get a new computer We specialize in network repairs and expansions for home wireless routers or businesses Virus removal to laptop screen replacements, we can handle it,” Ben says

Their glowing online reviews have helped the business grow exponentially, and Ben’s team has grown the reputation of delivering the most dependable service available “The true core to our success comes down to the ability of the technician to diagnose and repair a problem quickly and efficiently,” he says “But to our customers, that’s only a small part that makes us successful What our cusomers usually rave about is their customer service experience.”

Computer problems should be aptly renamed technological disasters, and Ben’s eam knows how stressful it can be to be without your computer When you call Friendly Fix It, you’ll speak to a live person directly After the appointment is made, the technician is notified, and you’ll promptly receive an automation-confirmation message reminder of the appointment date and time and whom the technician is that will be coming to your doorstep.

“Another major part of our success is to provide a technician that won’t intimidate a customer with geeky technical jargon most consumers wouldn’t understand After all, our slogan is ‘We Don’t GEEK Around!’” he adds

Coming Soon! Health Care Exchanges

When does all of this start? So many people ask me questions about Healthcare Exchanges, I wanted to lay out some important facts in an easy to understand fashion

Open enrollment for Exchange health plans will begin on October 1st (First effective date to be Jan 1, 2014) and end on March 31, 2014 Following that, Exchanges will have an Open Enrollment period annually that mirrors the Medicare Open Enrollment period (Oct. 15thDec 7th). Similar to Medicare, there will also be a Special Enrollment period between the 1st and 15th of any month for those that have a “qualifying” situation

here will still be “standlone” individual and amily plans that must meet certain standards he insurance compaies that I deal with ave almost completely made this transition aleady for people purhasing plans that are available today, but unike Exchanges, they won’t be guaranteed ssue. The Exchanges will have a rating system grouping plans by cost and value, and these plans will be offered at four basic levels; platinum, gold, silver and bronze The higher the “metal value” the more expensive the premium, but in relation to that, your out of pocket for medical care is lower There is a great new website:CoveredCA com with a lot of information just released that even allows people to use a premium calculator. Many will benefit from government financial assistance if their family or individual income falls into certain levels.

Healthcare Exchanges are the biggest change in national healthcare affecting our society since Medicare was launched in 1965 Most of our population still struggles to understand Medicare. My goal is to help you understand the Exchanges in a MUCH shorter timeframe.

Stephanie Frisch is the owner of Insurance 101 and is an independent insurance broker dedicated to helping others make “educated decisions” about their insurance choices when it comes to Medicare choices, life insurance and long-term care planning, individual and family plans, and HealthcareExchanges. My How Things Have Changed:

The Importance of Technology in Community Banking Today

These days, many people begin their search for a new banking relationship by going online That means that we community bankers must consider these customers along with those ho need a more personal, in-branch, lationship from the beginning.

hat can be a hard shift, because comunity banking history is filled with ore personal approaches such as alling our customers by name and nowing their personal banking prefrences Most community banks have one a pretty good job doing that

Now we must adapt to the needs of ustomers who do their banking onne or by automatic transactions. Some of these customers use the bank's bill pay and debit card and don' t want to order checks they imply don't use them

However, when they have a problem, se same customers want to talk to a person, at the bank, not in a call center somewhere So, good customer service will never lose the "personal" touch

For businesses there are several technological innovations that will enhance their banking experience. These include: robust on-line banking with choices such as originating wire transfers and ACH transactions from your desk, on-line bill pay, coordination with your accounting software, and transfers between accounts Additionally, remote deposit capture systems make it possible to deposit checks from your desk, with faster credit

But, these are “transactional” features that are designed to save businesses time and money In addition, they should require their community bank to provide banking advice, to assist with their financial business planning, and to provide access to needed credit facilities.

For individuals and families, technology is also important Features such as on-line banking and bill pay, mobile banking, telephone banking, and the ability to transfer funds between banks are very popular these days More traditional services such as debit cards (including reimbursing fees for using ATMs), credit cards, and courtesy calls when an account has a negative balance also rank high among consumers.

It all starts with determining which features are important to you and then a visit to the community bank’s website Too many options can be confusing and unnecessary, so narrowing your needs will help clarify your choices

At the end of the day, technology has not changed the basic functions of community banks. Rather, it has changed how banking services are accessed. Fundamentally, choosing a financially sound, profitable bank is certainly more important than the technology they offer. But if you can have both, and a little personal service too, you’ve probably found your banking “home ”

In addition to discussing his fascinating life and

art, Kerne will also be participating in a book-signing at the 2013 Night of the Arts Gala on April 20th Discover how Kerne Erickson’s works helps us to see southern Californian life as it was in the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s He has talentedly preserved the past with the beauty and warmth many of us fondly recall, a simpler time free from today’s multi-tasking. He takes us to a romantic purity of time, life and special places.

We can imagine this past so rich in history as we gaze into the San Juan Capistrano hills, where remnant citrus groves remain and we know many are working to preserve our open space for us all in lieu of housing glaciers Kerne’s creative talent helps us relive the past through his art so we can actually visualize the orange groves, the iconic orange crates, and horses and wagons that transpor ted our citrus and sweet orange fragrances

By participating in the Night of the Arts 2013 Gala, you are insuring our community will continue to grow, learn and prosper. By understanding our past and engaging patrons of all ages to read, we show appreciation to the importance of community’s history Our SJC library building reminds us of our local past influenced by Native Americans, the Spaniards and our rustic Rancho history Most importantly, our local library preserves knowledge and allows us to read and learn while challenging us to create a better future.

Please help us spread the word about a wonderful night of art, dancing to a ten-piece orchestra, silent auction, live art auction, dinner and a great way to support two local non-profits - The SJC Friends of the Library and the SJC Rotary Club.

1. How did you perfect the laser treatment for fungal nails?

Ivar Roth, DPM: After performing thousands of laser fungal toenail treatments, I developed and refined a proprietar y protocol coupled with the newest second generation FDA approved laser The new laser with its digital readouts allows me to tell precisely how much energy is required to kill the fungus With this information, I calculate a specific customized laser treatment tailored to each patient. This patient specific treatment means that no two patients are given the same laser treatment In addition, I invented a new way to get rid of the fungal infection in the toenails. Before your laser treatment, I will perform Maximum Nail Reduction (MNR) which removes at least 80% of your fungus in a single office visit. This exclusive protocol is so effective that I applied for a patent and it is currently only available at my office The initial treatment fee includes a second treatment session in order to ensure your success

2) What is the cost for laser toenail treatment?

IR: The treatments are broken down into two easy to understand components The first is the examination and nail treatment which may be covered by insurance The second part is the actual laser treatment which is not covered. A one-time examination fee of $500 is charged during the first session which covers both the fee for the initial examination as well as the follow-up office visit There is a separate laser fee of $70 for each toe which is also paid upfront and covers two laser treatments For example, treating one toe would be $570; however if all ten toenails are treated, the charge would be $1200 For severe infections, a third laser treatment may be necessar y. Exclusive anti-fungal products are sold separately You are not forced to treat all your nails as may be mandator y at other offices.

3) Is there a treatment for split nails?

Dr. Roth has developed a new patent pending cure for split nails Only one or two treatments are required to solve this problem

I’ve been lucky enough to visit Lake Tahoe’s South Shore many times over the years, but some of the best memories I’ve made have been from vacations our family has taken with family friends and their children

So I was really looking forward to our family/friend trip to South Shore last month. Our own kids – at ages 5 and 6 – were old enough to enjoy much of what Tahoe has to offer and because we rented a house together, had a ball playing with their friends from sunrise to sunset

As anticipated, this trip more than delivered. Driving into the region, the views of deep gorges, craggy mountains and snow flocked tall green trees are singularly beautiful The weekend we were there, the landscape was a wondrous wintry land – to which visitors descend by the scores each season to snowshoe, cross-country and downhill ski and snowboard to their hearts delight.

West Bowl offers long cruisers and intermediate to advanced runs, along with unbeatable views of Pyramid Peak and Desolation Wilderness , Sierra-at-Tahoe Resor t is a great family ski destination, with a little something for everyone Get a few hours in on the blacks and blues while your little ones get their skiing/riding legs with the help of Sierra’s friendly, expert instruction staff (snack breaks included). This was our 5-year-old son’s first time on the slopes and he had an absolute ball and in a few short hours, had already mastered the basics and felt confident enough to hit the beginner slopes with his daddy The instructors were great with the kids and made the entire experience memorable

For the bigger kid in all of us, there are terrain features speckled throughout the mountain And of course there’s hot chocolate waiting at just about every turn, and that’s a family snow sporting tradition to embrace no matter how far into Spring we get

Spring skiing - Don’t give up on the 2012/2013 ski season just yet Sierra-atTahoe Resort, about a 30-minute scenic drive from Tahoe, is a true destination resort; just close enough to town to make it easily accessible, while being just far enough away to really take advantage of alpine height and all the powder that goes with it

With 480 inches of average annual snowfall, wind-protected slopes, incredible tree skiing, and 320 acres of backcountry terrain out the Huckleberry Gates, Sierra™ Resort is a bastion of the authentic California ski experience. Beginner skiers and riders enjoy over 100 acres of dedicated terrain, four beginner-only conveyor lifts and PSIA Certified Instructors For freestylers, a commitment to innovative terrain parks has led to Sierra Resort being recognized by TransWorld

Traveling with five adults and five children, renting a house for our fourday stay was the perfect choice –we had plenty of space to stretch out, everyone had their own rooms to retreat to and we saved time and money by being able cook our meals and ding in rather than eating ut three times a day The ome featured here is deally situated right on he water in the prestiious Tahoe Keys community within minutes to area attractions, the casinos and, of course, the lake.
