W
hether your goal was to participate in the 9th annual FRIDAY Boston Triathlon to best your SATURDAY time, support a cause, or to be SUNDAY a spectator at this ever growing event; it was plain to see that this year the event gained significant traction. The Boston Triathlon fits into the superlative categoryengaging for spectators and participants alike, poised to be a transformative event for South Boston, and the city at large. Despite overcast skies, the twoday event started off very well with the second annual Kid’s Day this past Saturday. Hundreds of kids fearlessly braved the waters at Carson beach, and ran their hearts out in the Kids’ Splash and Dash. The adult main event on Sunday included Olympic Swim

Good News: Tom Tinlin of South Boston
Tom Tinlin dropped in at South Boston Online on Monday – 2017 has been quite a year for him and his family. He graciously consented to be interviewed. FRIDAY
SATURDAY As you’ve likely heard, Tom suffered a brain aneurysm SUNDAY rupture – a sudden massive bleeding in his brain – three months ago on Sunday, April 30. Prompt and highly skilled medical attention, along with unstinting support from his family, friends, and professional associates, restored Tom to us. Even more important, these restored him to himself. His news is good, all good, so maybe this is a story that can be best told backwards. We’ll start with the good news at the end of Tom’s story.
After being released from Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center to his home, Tom regained his health and he’s on the verge of accepting a new position, perhaps before the end of this month. He looks good, and he appears to us to have recovered his faculties completely, especially his ready laughter. He is extremely optimistic about the future. But there’s something of a backstory to this.
