Medal of Honor Park Reopens... Happy Fourth of July! by Rick Winterson
Mayor Walsh held another
of his popular Neighborhood Coffee Hours yesterday (Wednesday, the 28th). Since this was at Medal of Honor Park on the corner of M Street and East Broadway, the Mayor used the occasion to officially reopen the Park, after a $1.3 million renovation funded by the City of Boston. Some information for you: While its official name is “Medal of Honor Park”, it is frequently referred to as “M Street Park”, especially by longer term or bornand-brought-up residents of South Boston. Medal of Honor Park also contains America’s first memorial of the Vietnam War, dedicated to the 25 veterans from South Boston who gave their lives in that Conflict. It is a very special place to all who live here.

Boston also had a 1777

And that’s not all. Gov. Charlie Baker had already named the crossover where Brookline Avenue spans Interstate 90 “David Ortiz Bridge”. continued on page 4
