Paraclete to Honor the Lynches at April 3 Fete

lease reserve this coming Tuesday evening, April 3, between 6 and 8 p.m. The occasion is Paraclete’s 2018 Annual Reception – certainly a guaranteed harbinger of Spring, if there ever was one. The locale will be at the Boston College High School, just off Morrissey
Boulevard at #150. The honorees in a brief program will be the Lynches - the Hon. Stephen Lynch and Mrs. Margaret Lynch. There’s no need to tell you why they are being honored. The Lynches typify all that is good, straightforward, and memorable about South Boston. The evening will be a time to celebrate Paraclete as well. Sample the drinks and pay particular attention to the rich and tasteful hors d’oeuvres you’ll be served. If you prefer, come straight from work. There will be music, and entertainment, and raffles and auctions galore, with some special and luxurious items for you to consider. How about five-star gourmet dining at Menton, with a lunch for 10 at the chef’s table? Or a “Cultural Night on the Town” with Boston’s Arts Commissioner, Julie Burros? Would you want to watch the Celts play the Nets on April 11 from the prestigious Cross Insurance Boardroom? These are just three Continued on Page 3

T
he ASCD held their annual conference called “Empower 18” at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center this past week, hosting thousands of educators from around the nation. Celebrating its seventy-fifth year, the organization has a multi-tiered mission to aid in the professional development of educators,
promote curriculum development, healthy school environments, and advocate for educational equity. The sheer quantity and quality of the presenters, and the vast number of educational vendors, dominated the convention center for three days. Herein I hope to give you a snapshot to reveal the importance of this organization to the world of K-12 education. Continued on Page 6
