NDEC Update

Reopening: South Boston, and Massachusetts by Rick Winterson

O

n Monday at 11 a.m., Governor Charles Ba ker described the step-by-step Reopening of the Commonwealth, following lockdowns, quarantines, and Social Distancing necessitated by the Coronavirus and COVID-19. Lt. Gov. Karyn Polito, Housing & Economic Development Sec’y. Mike Kennealy, and Health & Human Services Sec’y. MaryLou Sudders also took part. The Governor’s Reopening plan is organized into four phases: I-“START”; II-“CAUTIOUS”; III-“V IGIL A NT”; IV-“NEW NORMAL”. Eventually, the NDEC will occupy one of the floors in the new, more modern building, which will actually increase their usable teaching floor space when it’s completed. And you don’t have to be told about the presence of the Coronavirus, and the multi-faceted COVID-19 affliction it causes. Needless to say, all schools and educational facilities have had Continued on Page 5
