The Future Looks Bright 16 Southie Students Awarded Sports Hall of Fame Scholarships By Ginger DeShaney

ixteen outsta nding South Boston students were awarded $2,000 grants from the South Boston Sports Hall of Fame Scholarship Trust Fund on Friday. “It’s been an incredibly diff icult last 20 months for ever ybody,” ceremony emcee and Trustee John Beatty said at the Walsh Gym. People have been affected in different ways, he said: “Some with physical hardship or illness, in some cases losing family members; businesses have been impacted, jobs have been impacted, family lives have been impacted. into the “Christmas in the City” program where he served as head volunteer and ambassador ensuring that our underprivileged youth in Greater Boston were taken care of … all while participating in South Boston Youth Hockey and maintaining over a 4.0 GPA at the esteemed Belmont Hill School.
