LETTER FROM THE CAPTAIN

Welcome back to Bobby Hancocks Park for today’s Coventry Telegraph quarter final match
against Dunlop FC. Last week’s 3-2 win against Yarnton in the league was a massive result in what has been a tough period for us. Losing four on the bounce it was important we not only had that positive result but a performance to go with it. Individual mistakes have cost us on far too many occasions of late, so we knew we had to try and cut them out and go back to basics defensively to be able to get the positive result. We did just that and that’s why we got the win. Obviously the result was the most important but I thought our football in patches was some of the best we have played this season. It was a real team performance from the lads who started, to the lads who came off the bench. I’m delighted for Melv who scored twice on the day and rightly so received Man of the Match. Sometimes you just need that first goal as a striker and I’m sure now that he’s gotten that the goals will flow. Also, I must mention Matt who’s been unlucky as of late with game time, but who came off the bench and made a real difference. It shows the quality we have at this club and this level. We now need to build on that performance starting today, which remains our last cup competition.
Enjoy the game
