“I hope there will be gifts and cake!” said SpongeBob. “I love balloons and party hats and Krabby Patties!”
“Do you know what day it is?” SpongeBob asked Gary.
“Meow?” Gary asked. SpongeBob looked on as Gary slid by.
Did Gary forget Douglas’s birthday? wondered SpongeBob.
Sandy was pushing a big box. “Is that a gift?”asked SpongeBob.

“No, it is my new chair,” said Sandy. Sandy sat on the box. Sandy did not mention Douglas’s birthday.

“Do you know what day it is?” SpongeBob asked his friend Patrick. “It starts with a B…”
“I know! I know!” said Patrick. “Bubble day! Basketball day! Bumblebee day?” SpongeBob shook his head.
Did everyone forget the gifts and cake? Did everyone forget the balloons and party hats and Krabby Patties? wondered SpongeBob.
How could he make Douglas’s birthday special?
SpongeBob went to work. The Krusty Krab was empty!
“Hello?” SpongeBob called out.
Squidward walked in and stood next to a table. “What are you holding?” asked SpongeBob.

“This is my new wig,” said Squidward. Squidward put the mop on his head.
“Mr. Krabs, do you know what day it is?” asked SpongeBob.
“It is a day to make money!” said Mr. Krabs. “Into the kitchen, SpongeBob!”
“It looks like everyone forgot Douglas’s birthday,” said SpongeBob. “No gifts, no cake, and no balloons here.”
“SpongeBob!” Mr. Krabs called. “Come in here!”
It was a big party with gifts and balloons for Douglas!
