The conversion of a local synagogue into a co-learning space required primary safety works, which entailed the boarding up of all glassworks before the structure could support restoration, which pends financial backing. To signal this transformation, together with a small crew, we developed a project which covered these boards with visual materials highlighting the cultural richness of its stained glass windows, interiors as well as its crumbling surroundings. Through onsite interventions, trans-generational activities for the community and a series of printed materials, the SHIFT project challenged the formats previously used for exposing the identity of a location.
