Part of the KDNK team took to Highway 82 on Sept. 2 to panhandle for the station’s fall membership drive and to raise awareness of the fund-raiser through civil disobedience. “Join the Team” is the membership drive’s theme, and the non-profit radio station’s goal is $75,000. Other membership-drive events include an open house (76 S. 2nd) from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sept. 9, a journalist’s roundtable live broadcast from 5 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 11, and a five-course dinner at town. restaurant from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 14 (reservations at 963-6328). Shown here, left to right: Patrick Stewart (underwriting specialist), Bodhi Stanberry (membership director and volunteer coordinator) and Steve Skinner (station manager). “We raised $16 panhandling,” Skinner told The Sopris Sun. Of that total, $15 came from a single donor, who opened her purse in agreement with Stanberry’s sign. On a related note, check out the station’s new website at kdnk.org. Photo by Jane Bachrach
