Cool casting
The Roaring Fork Conservancy reports that water temperatures in the Roaring Fork River and other rivers have dropped of late, which is good news for anglers and fish. Rivers had warmed so much due to the drought and low snow pack, the RFC initiated its volunteer-based Hot Spots for Trout program, which monitors river temperatures. The state standard for the Roaring Fork is 68 degrees. When temperatures average more than 72, Colorado Parks & Wildlife is authorized to close sections of the river to fishing. This photo was taken at the Satank Bridge west of Carbondale over the weekend, where the temperature was recorded at 65 degrees for the week of July 23-29. Photo by Lynn Burton
