e calf-ateria line As their moms eat a breakfast of hay, this line-up of calves wait politely until the elders have finished their meal before going to pick at the leftovers. (At least that’s what we’re guessing). This herd, which currently lives down by Carbondale Nature Park, belongs to John and Marty Nieslanik. According to Johnny Nieslanik, their 2015 calving season is almost finished. As of March 31, he said that they have 183 calves with 15 moms still due. Photos and text by Jane Bachrach
