Have you ever heard of a plate mover sumo deadlift, elevator, ladder, and hack squats??? If not, come learn some new exercises to incorporate into your current routine.

Summit Conditioning is based off of HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). These workouts consist of higher repetition, lower weight exercises that increase one’s cardiovascular endurance. These high intensity anaerobic workouts are calorie burners that will keep your heart rate elevated, build muscle and destroy fat in 60 minutes.

Workouts will incorporate all the following equipment: kettlebells, box jumps, medicine balls, free weights, barbells, jump ropes, exercise balls, TRX, etc. We will stress the importance of training safe, and lifting properly, and there will be adequate rest between sets; moving slower is better than faster. This class is meant for all fitness levels.

Learn to Lead Clinics and Lead CertiďŹ cation

These clinics will provide information on how to lead climb and lead belay. This 3 hour clinic is an on-going offering through the Winter. There is a sign up sheet at the front desk of the recreation center. When we have 4 people interested we will schedule the next clinic.

Downtown Ice Rink Programs 4th St. Plaza Park Rink

A downtown ice rink is available for family skating at the corner of 4th St. and Main St. in Carbondale. This rink will be open from 12 noon to 9 PM daily, ice permitting. Go to our website or facebook page for updated ice information. FYI-No stick sports are allowed on this sheet of ice. Hockey and Broomball must take place at the Gus Darien Ice Rink. There is a selection of ice skates for rent for $3/day or $10/for 3 days (visit the CRCC at 567 Colorado Ave., only 2 blocks away for rentals).

Family Skate Event

Community Skate Party Come on down to the 4th Street Plaza Ice Rink on January’s First Friday for a free Community Party. We will have a fire pit, roast hot dogs and marshmallows, and drink hot chocolate. Ice skate rentals will be available at the Rec Center until 9 pm.

Gus Darien Ice Rink

We will be operating the large ice rink located on County Road 100, the home of the summer rodeo. Ice skate rentals are available to rent at the CRCC in downtown Carbondale. We have flood lights to illuminate the ice until 9 pm. The ice rink is reserved Wednesday and Friday nights from 6:00-10:00 pm for the Carbondale Broomball League and reserved 4:00 -7:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays during January and February for Youth Hockey classes. See monthly calendar on our website for other closures or call 510-1290 for more information.

Pick up Hockey

Pick up hockey is allowed at the Gus Darien Ice Rink on a first come first serve basis unless there is a Town Recreation Program scheduled. Please respect other skaters and adjust the goal setup to accommodate other rink users. Pick up hockey is not allowed to supersede other uses except during the following times: Tuesday, Thursday, & Sunday 7:30-9:00 pm. Gus Darien Ice Rink Programs Introduction to Ice Hockey for Kids

This is an introductory program for ice hockey for boys and girls. These lessons are for those who have some skating skills with little or no hockey skills. Participants will develop their skills and learn the basics of the game in a recreational environment. Hockey helmets with full face mask and an appropriately sized hockey stick required for all participants. The Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Course can help you learn what you need to know to be the best and most responsible babysitter you can be. Special Events 2015 Easter Egg Hunt

Join Carbondale Recreation for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Sopris Park. Please arrive promptly because the hunt only lasts a few minutes. And be sure to bring your own basket to collect the eggs. Participants will be divided up according to age. Registration for the Easter Basket Raffle will begin at 9:00 am, and winners will be drawn following the Hunt.

Spring Into Fun Family Block Party

“Spring Into Fun” at the Family Block Party on Carbondale’s First Friday in May. Enjoy playful activities for the kids courtesy of the Carbondale Recreation & Community Center, arts and crafts by the Children’s Rocky Mountain School and Handmakery, and meet some of Colorado Animal Rescue’s sweetest adoptables! Live music, silent auction, and food and drinks will be available. Proceeds benefit valley recreation, early childhood education, and our local animal shelter.

Bonedale Bike Week - Kid’s Bike Rodeo

REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY, APRIL 17. All teams are first come first serve. If a team fills before the registration deadline all additional sign-ups will be placed on a waitlist.

So sign up early to ensure a spot on the team! Team maximums will be strongly enforced.

Practice and game schedules will be dependent on coaches’ availability and will be set in May. Practices and regular season games will occur during the week, but tournament games may be played on Saturdays. All communication for all teams will be conducted via email. The Winter session of the CO-ED 4 on 4 Volleyball League is here! This league is fast-paced and action-packed, offering nothing but a great time to those involved. The league will consist of regular season play, followed by a double-elimination tournament (depending on how many teams register) to determine the league champion. In addition, the league is self-officiated with teams making their own calls.
