MOUNTAIN FAIR SUSTAINABILITY

You can help Mountain Fair accomplish our waste diversion goals by supporting these Green Team efforts:

BYO water bottles, plates, and utensils to the fair; take them home and wash them. It’s like camping! Reusable cups may be used for cocktails and wine (not beer, sorry) at the Cantina.

We do not sell bottled water at the fair and we have several WATER STATIONS full of clean, mountain water marked with red and white water signs. Please bring your own reusable container and keep it with you.

If you are finished with your program, please promote REUSE by leaving it at the Entrance/Exits for others to use.

COMPOSTING & RECYCLING

You can be part of the solution by assisting the volunteer-powered Green Team with proper sorting at the waste stations.

J ust about anything you purchase from a food vendor goes in the green compost bins. All food scraps, utensils, plates, bowls, cups, and paper products are compostable.

ALL cups in The Cantina are COMPOSTABLE!

Meet the Artist: Rowan Brown

This year’s winning Mountain Fair design was created by Colorado visual artist and tattooer Rowan Brown. Formally trained in traditional tattooing, she developed a strong foundation in design and composition. While her artistic education has been largely self-directed outside of tattooing, Rowan credits her apprenticeship with providing an unexpected depth of creative and technical knowledge.

Raised in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Rowan draws inspiration from the landscapes and culture of the Four Corners region. Her love of art began early, encouraged by her mother and shaped through a passion for drawing and painting. Alongside her tattoo work, Rowan continues to explore new creative avenues. Marcus Thackston / Blend Web Marketing

Marcus Thackston runs Blend Web Marketing, a Carbondale-based digital agency crafting beautiful, user-friendly websites, apps, and providing merchant services for businesses across Colorado’s Western Slope. When he’s not building things, Marcus is chasing the outdoors in every season—reading whitewater as a river trip leader, throwing flies at unsuspecting trout, snowboarding, snowmobiling, off-roading, mountain biking, escaping on hut trips, and coaxing things to grow in the garden. A Wilderness First Responder, he’s happily tangled up as a volunteer with West Elk Mountain Rescue, Carbondale Arts, Roaring Fork Leadership (board member and advisor), Mt. Sopris Rec Riders, and local farms including Wild Mountain Seeds & Seed Peace.

This year, we’re delighted that Marcus offered up his time and talents to make a beta version of a Moun tain Fair app. It’s got the same spirit, with a different medium. Being a part of the volunteer crew that pours its heart into Fair, inspired Marcus to build a Progressive Web App to make the fair magic easier to navigate—upcoming shows and events, artist bios, booth locations and more — so everyone can focus on the good stuff.

For Marcus, loving Carbondale is a way of life.

THANK YOU FOR YEAR-ROUND SUPPORT!
