congratulations 2017 graduates
2017 GRADUATE HIGHLIGHTS Roaring Fork High School students continue to be honored for academic achievements in many areas including science, math and language arts. Students have been accepted to major universities throughout the United States. The 83-member class of 2017 is 84 percent college bound and has been awarded approximately $2 million dollars in Institutional scholarships from the schools that they were accepted to and earned more than $180,000 in local, Roaring Fork Valley scholarship awards.
TAVIA TEITLER, CO-VALEDICTORIAN, earned a Boettcher Scholarship and will be attending Stanford University to study Latin American Studies. She was also one of the student liaisons to the School Board who helped pass the Seal of Biliteracy for the RFSD. NICK PENZEL, CO-VALEDICTORIAN, earned a Boettcher Scholarship, a full ride scholarship and will be attending Colorado College and plans to study Environmental Science. JULIA LEE earned the Daniels Fund Scholarship, a full ride scholarship to the college of her choice. She will be attending Stanford University to study Engineering and Creative Writing. FABIAN RICO, HEAD BOY, earned the Daniels Fund Scholarship, a full ride scholarship to the school of his choice and will be attending Seattle University to study Political Science. LORENZO ANDRADE earned the Daniels Fund Scholarship, a full ride scholarship to attend the school of his choice and will be attending Cal Poly to study pre-med. He was also one of the student liaisons to the School Board who helped pass the Seal of Biliteracy for the RFSD.
ENRIQUE GONZALEZ earned the Daniels fund scholarship and will be attending Colorado School of Mines to study engineering.
KATELYN KREHBIEL competed in the Cross Country Skiing State Competition and took 10th, receiving All-State Honors. She will attend Montana State University to ski and study Art. ALDO PINELA, a Post Independent athlete of the month achieved All-Conference honors in Varsity Baseball, 1st team All-Conference in Varsity Football and 3 years All-Conference Varsity Basketball including an All-State Honorable Mention his senior year.
DISTINGUISHED SCHOLARS AWARD To earn this award these seniors took a foreign language through level three or higher and completed at least two of the following: a 3.75 GPA or higher, a 24 or higher on the ACT, and/or successfully completed two or more college level classes.
