Dallenbach day Colorado 500 motorcycle riders cruised through the streets of Basalt on Saturday, Aug. 15, honoring the late founder of the cross-state, motor-powered event, Wally Dallenbach, and his wife Annette “Peppy.” The 50th annual Colorado 500 kicked off the day after the parade, and runs until Friday, Aug. 21, raising money for youth, education, communities, trails and motor sports. The park at 137 Midland Ave. (pictured bottom right) also saw a tribute ceremony on Saturday and was renamed Dallenbach Park in honor of Wally and Annette, who lived near the Fryingpan River.
