Sustainable luxury travel curator Up Norway invites travelers to experience the places that authentically represent the stories and history of Norwegian heritage with its New Views of the Old Country Journey. Through authentic experiences and curated encounters, this immersive 10-day journey takes travelers through fjords, mountains, forests, and coastlines to discover the country’s rich history that influences today’s Nordic culture. With the help of a local genealogist, Up Norway can also include experiences and interactions in specific areas of Norway based on one's descendants' origins From Oslo to Bergen, with stops in the fjord village Balestrand, the highest point on the Bergen railway Finse, and the coastal fishing village of Kalvåg, the highlights of the New Views of the Old Country Journey are the curated encounters with the local people and places who give perspective on modern living.

World War II This large-scale outdoor art installation tells the story of the fight for democracy and freedom during Norway's occupation years; Visits to the Munch Museum, The Deichman Library, National Museum, and the Oslo Opera House; A trip through mountain terrain and snow-covered peaks on the Bergen railway;

Introduction to Norwegian Romantic Nationalism; A boat trip along the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord, to the fjord village of Balestrand; Stroll along the UNESCO Bergen Wharf, with views of the iconic colorful wooden houses and vibrant cafe scene; and, A classical concert featuring the work of Edvard Grieg

Accommodations range from Amerikalinjen, the former headquarters of The Norwegian America Line, and Finse 1222, host of both polar heroes and prominent royals, to dragon-style wooden villas built by artists or wealthy visitors in the late 19th and early 20th century. Additionally, travelers will stay at Opus 16, a boutique hotel run by the Grieg family.

Available April through October annually, the journey starts at $4,722 USD per person based on two people traveling. Lodging and all local transfers from arrival to departure are included, as well as various privately guided tours, select meals, and a digital itinerary provided by Up Norway.
