Men Don’t Understand… “Dad Bod”
American culture has given men a convenient label for what happens when life gets busy and health falls down the priority list: the "dad bod."
Sure, it can be funny A little selfdeprecating humor is healthy
But here's the problem: your body isn't joking
Since June is Men's Health Month, we thought it would be fun to sit down with Dr Paige at Medical Transformation Center for a three-part series based on one simple question:
What do men think they know about their health, that they actually get wrong?
In part one, Dr Paige tackled testosterone. This week, he takes on “dad bod.”
That extra weight around your

midsection isn't simply a cosmetic issue It's often one of the earliest signs that your metabolism, hormones, and overall health are starting to move in the wrong direction.
Many men assume that if they can still get through the workday, mow the lawn on the weekend, and keep up with most of life's demands, everything is fine But the body is remarkably good at compensating - until it isn't.
Belly fat is metabolically active tissue. It drives inflammation throughout the body and is associated with increased risk for:
● Heart disease
● Type 2 diabetes
● High blood pressure
● Fatty liver disease
● Poor sleep quality
● Reduced energy and stamina
● Lower testosterone levels
● Loss of muscle mass
● Sexual performance concerns
● Accelerated aging
The good news? Most men don't need another fad diet or extreme workout program They need a sustainable plan.
Here are a few principles I discuss with men every day:
Think Lifestyle, Not Diet
Most men can lose weight The real challenge is keeping it off.
Temporary solutions produce temporary results. Instead of asking, "What can I do for the next 30 days?" ask, "What habits can I maintain for the next 30 years?"
The healthiest men I know aren't perfect They're consistent
Think
Fuel, Not Food
Your body is an incredible machine, but like any machine, it performs best when given the right fuel Too many men are trying to run a high-performance engine on processed foods, sugar, alcohol, and fast food
Focus on quality protein, vegetables, and healthy fats Before you eat, ask yourself: "Is this meal helping my body perform better tomorrow?"
Think Build, Not Bulk
Many men hear "strength training" and picture bodybuilders. That's not what we're talking about
We're talking about preserving muscle. Muscle isn’t for show It’s the tissue that helps regulate metabolism, supports healthy hormones, protects mobility, and keeps you independent as you age.
Muscle is one of the greatest assets you can build for long-term health. Simple compound movements like squats, presses, rows, carries, and lunges can make a tremendous difference.

So now…. Take an honest inventory. Can you keep up with your kids or grandkids?
Do you have energy left at the end of the day?
Are you sleeping well?
Are your hormones, metabolism, and cardiovascular system working for youor against you?
The goal isn't to look like you're 25 again The goal is to remain strong, capable, resilient, and healthy enough to enjoy the life you've worked so hard to build
