Sophie Qiao's Art Portfolio

Sophie Qiao

Foreword Hi! I am Sophie. My passion for art has been a lifelong journey that began when I first picked up a paintbrush at the age of three. The act of transforming a blank canvas into a visual narrative using only brushes and colors has always been my favorite form of expression, allowing me to channel my imagination into tangible creations. This portfolio is a curated collection of my artistic growth and exploration, ranging from preliminary sketches to detailed watercolor paintings, and traditional Chinese ink compositions. Each piece is a reflection of my keen observations of the surrounding world, as well as an homage to the renowned artists who have inspired me. I invite you to delve into my unique artistic perspective and hope that you find as much joy in experiencing these works as I did in creating them.

work work This painting received recognition as one of the Excellent Works from Shanghai Changning Fine Arts Academy in 2022. It is an oil pastel presentation of the dawn. The light in the center of the painting signifies hope in the dark environment.

It spreads from a small source but can light up most of the sky. The light is the main figure in the picture, placed in the center to catch people’s eye. This shows how hope can overcome despair.

These three sketches show the muscle and skeletal structure of a human face. They help set the basis for later drawings of visages. I like these sketches, as they provide a more scientific side to art that relates to my passion for anatomy and biology.
