You may have noticed the three charging points in the Sópers House car park. These are available to use all day for members with electric and hybrid vehicles.

EVENTSFORTHCOMING

On February 24th we will be holding an evening of fine dining and magic! Yes, the first Sópers House Magic Night. A 7pm drinks reception kicks the evening off, and a 3-course meal from 7.45pm, with entertaining magic throughout. Finishing at 11pm, the night is £26 per head.

On March 27th will be our first Mother’s Day afternoon, with a 3 course carvery and a small gift for the mother. Bookings from 12-2pm. Please contact reception.

Victor Smith is running Corebox sessions at 12-noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays. @BxingFiit will be holding 1-1 and group sessions on Saturday mornings. Have a go!

BURNSSÓPERSNIGHT

A Burns supper is a celebration of the life and poetry of Robert Burns, the author of many a Scots poem. There is a certain amount of ceremony to the celebration but, more often then not, it is a great excuse to get together, eat well and drink whiskey! Traditionally, the food will include haggis, which is brought to the host’s table, accompanied by a piper.

That is exactly what happened here at Sópers House on January 25th, where 55 guests were catered for, on what also served as a soft launch for the on-site restaurant.ChefsIan, Scott and Isaac used the brand new kitchen to expertly prepare Cullen skink soup, haggis, neeps and tatties, and whiskey and chocolate cremaux with orange and cinnamon ice cream, plus a vegetarian option.

‘Chris the Piper’ was on hand to pipe the haggis in, and entertain the diners.

A thoroughly enjoyable evening and a sign of good things to come.

What is your go-to order on the Sópers menu?

The budda bowl is my favourite.

What does a typical day in the life of Sópers look like to you?

Supporting the business with HR and recruitment, but no day is the same here, which is why I love life at Sópers.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I’d like to see more Sópers Houses across the country. Eventually have a HR team underneath me, that can be a part of expanding and growing the business and divisions.

Whats your biggest accomplishment this month?

Enrolling our first apprentice Madeline Wells as Digital Marketing Assistant. I’ve had the pleasure of watching Madeline grow and excel during her apprenticeship. I’d like to see more apprenticeships here at Sópers House in the future, to give talent the opportunity to develop their career.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?

I wanted to either be personal trainer or P.E teacher. I always enjoyed sport growing up, whether that would be playing netball, football, hockey, or anything fitness related.

What’s the best place you have travelled to?

The Dominican Republic was amazing but, to be honest, if there is a beach involved, I’m happy wherever!

What’s the most exciting part of your job?

When I first joined the business, it was just myself and the owners. To see how the project was from the very beginning, to how stunning it is now with a team of 25 staff, it’s something that I’m extremely proud of being involved in. We continue to grow and expand, and I’m excited to watch the team gain and develop new skills to further support their career here at Sópers House.

What is the biggest challenge you have faced this month?

Managing the HR and recruitment on my own can sometimes be a challenge, especially when we were recruiting 15+ job roles, but the key for me is all about prioritising and being organised.

Where did you work before Sópers?

An events and publishing company based in Essex, supporting with their in-house recruitment and HR.

How do you like to relax and unwind after your workday?

Watching Netflix in my comfy PJs.

What app do you use the most on your phone?

It’s got to be WhatsApp.

What habit are you trying to get into (or get out of)?

I’ve always wanted to learn Spanish. As a new year resolution, I’d like to find the perfect app/ course that will help me achieve this.

For the first top up, members will receive 10% additional credit over £50. Then, each time you use the app, we will apply 10% discount to the bill.

The first event to be hosted at Sópers House was an amazing success! ‘Supercar Sunday’, held on Sunday 16th January in collaboration with Collecting Cars, coincided with the arrival, and subsequent unveiling, of Nigel Brunt’s new baby, a Koenigsegg Agera S.

One of only 5 ever built, this hypercar was proudly displayed at the building entrance and drew crowds all morning.

The Agera S has a 1030 bhp twin-turbo V8 engine, capable of 0-62 in 2.9 seconds. Keeping it company at the entrance, along with the Collecting Cars stand, were another two Koenigsegg, Nigel’s LaFerrari and two Paganis! Quite the gathering.

The event had attracted a lot of attention on social media and the prebooking was full, days before the Sunday. Collecting Cars hold regular coffee morning meets and it showed, because the organisation was spot-on.

The public car park at the end of Sopers Road was supercar parking for the morning and visitors were treated to various Porsche, Lamborghini, Audi, Bentley, Aston Martin and Ferrari.

In fact there were cars parked along the entire length of Sopers Road and there was plenty to see – and hear!

The crowd around the entrance to Sópers House did not thin all morning and visitors were queueing for the chance to sit in the Agera S and the La Ferrari.

It was in the Sópers House car park where the majority of the cars were displayed. Everything from retro classics to modern exotics, and several well known

social media/YouTube personalities came along, such as Tim Burton (Shmee150), who drove down and displayed a friend’s stunning Guntherwerks 993, a remastering of the Porsche 993. Ciro Ciampi, representing Petrolheadonism, drove down in his Lamborghini as well as #AdamC3046 in his Dax Cobra.

Interested visitors, and potential members, were given guided tours of Sópers House and its impressive facilities. Catering was provided by the able staff of the Sópers House café who were kept

busy, serving the public coffee, pastries and an unbelievable 1000 bacon rolls!

Everyone left happy and the feedback has been fantastic, from car enthusiasts to the casual visitors who dropped by to see what all the fuss was about!

Needless to say, the event will not be the last, and there are already plans for future events.

Sópers House management would like to thank the amazing staff, and all those involved in making the day such a success. Here’s to the next one!
