Exquisite sanctuary of sweetness

For the clients Rangaraj and Jyothi, starting their retired life in a new home surrounded by peace and tranquility was a dream. Madhuram, meaning sweetness, became the embodiment of their vision—a haven where serenity blossoms. With a carefully crafted design, their abode blends a bedroom, living room, and dining room, forming an intimate sanctuary for the couple. The open-concept kitchen, thoughtfully curated, allows Jyothi to savor the company of Rangaraj while catching glimpses of the living room, fostering a harmonious connection. Adorned with warmth and adorned with grace, Madhuram welcomes their dear friends and cousins, hosting cherished moments shared by two or three, brimming with joy and laughter.

Where peace meets serenity

Saatva, an exquisite 5-star hotel nestled in the enchanting locale of Vizhinjam, Trivandrum, beckons both leisure and business travelers alike. With its breathtaking panoramic views of the vast sea and captivating cityscape, it presents a haven of tranquility and opulence. Combining the essence of Kerala’s rich heritage with a touch of bohemian charm, Saatva embraces a unique and captivating style that immerses guests in a world of elegance and rejuvenation.

SITE APPROACH

The hotel’s main entrance is situated on Vizhinjam Harbour road, with an adjacent pocket road for efficient service access. A portion of the site area will be dedicated to widening the pocket road, enhancing service operations.

THE BASE

The building base is divided into two blocks: one for the main guest spaces (banquet and lobby), and the other for essential services and parking, ensuring clear segregation.

THE CONNECTION

The two blocks of the hotel connect above the lobby level, offering intimate and homely experiences for the guests once the public areas are greeted and back-of-house services are settled.

THE FORM

The floors are stacked, with the connection floor housing the main restaurant, gym, and recreational areas. The next level features a specialty restaurant, meeting rooms, and a portion that creates an open terrace restaurant and roof garden. Above this is the guest room area, designed with a compact footprint to form a cohesive mass.

THE ILLUSION

The hotel’s facade features glass panels that serve dual purposes: offering uninterrupted views of the sky and sea from the recreation and restaurant area, and creating an intriguing illusion of void, enhancing the overall aesthetic of the building.

Crimson cottage

Nestled in the hues of warmth

Crimson Cottage, a haven of warmth and elegance, is home to a family of three. Nestled amidst lush surroundings, this enchanting residence is adorned with shades of crimson that evoke a sense of passion and vitality. A sanctuary for creativity, it graciously accommodates a renowned writer, her loving son, and his devoted wife, providing a tranquil space where inspiration flourishes and cherished memories are woven.

The project documented the coastal colony of Mathipuram in Vizhinjam, Trivandrum which was rehabilated under the Rajiv Awaz Yojana Scheme but is still far away from being dveloped. The aim was to create a gender neutral space not by redesigning, but by retrofitting changes to the exsisting setting, for which we proposed “Kadaldhwani”
