WELCOME LETTER A LETTER FROM HEAD COACH JOHN RODDICK Welcome to men’s tennis at the University of Oklahoma. As a program, I believe that we are in a position to challenge the Big 12 as well as the nation’s elite programs. I embrace the challenges each student-athlete faces and understand what it takes to compete at the highest levels of the game. It takes discipline, focus and hard work to become successful, not only in competition, but in the classroom as well. At Oklahoma, we are fortunate to be able toprovide the resources to become the best. Our facilities, athletically and academically, are second to none. Each student-athlete is given every opportunity to succeed, whether that is on or off the court. The mission statement of our athletics department states that we ‘Inspire champions today and
prepare leaders for tomorrow.’ I have never seen a place where that statement rings truer than at this prestigious institution. The University of Oklahoma boasts one of the top athletic programs in the country and we hold strong to the highest possible standards. The university and its fans demand success, which is why I am proud to call myself a Sooner. I look forward to a successful season and career as head coach at the University of Oklahoma. I know that the contribution of our student-athletes will add to the bright future of our program.
