The layering of calcium carbonate and protein layers of the abalone shell. Research have shown that the abalone shell structure can have similar or even stronger compressive strength to brick,cement and concrete.

Making process of the newspaper wood block for CNC:

1. Lay out each sheet of newspaer

Leave the newspaper log to dry

2. Spread glue evenly across the whole sheet

3. Roll each layer separa

The advantages of using layered plywood as formwork is that the cast outcome get imprinted with wood and layering texture. This mould-making method allows accidental marks get left onto the cast, making the replica more like the orginal ruins as the plaster eroded away when the plywood layers with small openings traps them.

The disadvantages of using plywood as formwork are that it canâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t be reused, require high manual labour and very time consuming to construct.
