EMERGENCY CARE SERVICES
Introduction
Sonoma Valley Hospital (SVH) is the trusted provider of emergency care for our community, treating approximately 10,000 patients annually. We consistently rank in the top quartile nationally for patient satisfaction—a reflection of our expert staff, high-quality care, and commitment to continuous improvement.
Twelve years ago, we opened the Marcia and Gary Nelson Family Emergency Care Center—a state-of-the-art facility that marked a new era for emergency services in Sonoma Valley. To meet evolving community needs and sustain our excellence, we must continue to invest.
The Need

As Sonoma Valley’s primary emergency care provider, SVH must adapt to increasing demand and medical advancements. To meet this challenge, we are focused on four priorities:
• Modernizing and Expanding Our Facilities
While our emergency center remains a strong foundation, we must grow and update to keep pace with rising patient volume and technological change.
• Enhancing Specialized Services Programs like our Acute Stroke Ready certification and cardiac response are vital. Expanding these services ensures timely, life-saving care.
• Create an Age Friendly Health System
Emergency services designed to support the aging population in our community.
• Recruiting and Retaining Top Medical Talent
Sustaining excellence requires continuous investment in our skilled emergency physicians, nurses, and staff.

We envision an Emergency Department that is fully equipped, future-ready, and patient-focused. Your support will help us:
• Improve Patient Care: Add treatment areas, speed up diagnostics, and increase patient privacy.
• Expand Specialized Programs: Grow critical care offerings, including stroke and cardiac services, in partnership with UCSF Health
• Earn certi cation as an Age-Friendly Emergency Department: meeting the unique needs of older adults.
