The Need
Cancer affects one in two men and one in three women during their lifetime. Early detection and prevention are proven to save lives, reduce treatment costs, and improve outcomes. Sonoma Valley Hospital performed more than 2,500 cancer prevention screenings in 2024. Unfortunately, many individuals in our community face barriers to timely and accurate screenings, leading to late-stage diagnoses and diminished quality of life.
At Sonoma Valley Hospital, we recognize these challenges and aim to ensure that everyone in our community has convenient access to the screenings, treatments, and support they need, regardless of background or financial situation. However, our ability to continue providing these services depends on the generosity of supporters like you.
Our Services
In 2024, 67 cancer-related surgeries were performed at Sonoma Valley Hospital including mastectomies, biopsies, tumor resections, hysterectomies and colectomies and 488 cancer cases from Sonoma County, were referred to our partners at UCSF Medical Center, together we offer state-of-the-art cancer care services, including:
1. Oncology Care – Comprehensive cancer care for all stages, from diagnosis to advanced treatments such as chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
2. Mammography – State-of-the-art mammography services for early breast cancer detection, offering 3D imaging to ensure the most accurate results.
3. Colonoscopy – Life-saving colon cancer screenings that help detect polyps or cancer early, potentially preventing the disease altogether.
4. Infusion Services – Compassionate infusion therapy in a comfortable, supportive setting.
5. Surgery – Expert surgical interventions, ranging from minimally invasive to more complex procedures, all aimed at removing cancerous tissue and providing the best possible outcomes.
6. 3 Tesla MRI – High-resolution imaging with the latest MRI technology, crucial for detecting cancers early and monitoring treatment effectiveness.
7. Ultrasound – Non-invasive diagnostic services to detect tumors and abnormalities in various organs.
8. Comprehensive Cancer Screening Program – A coordinated approach to early detection for all cancers, ensuring that individuals receive timely and personalized care.

• Provide increased infusion services in partnership with UCSF’s expanded services in the northern bay area.
• Strengthen our outreach e orts to underserved populations who may not have access to regular screenings or cancer prevention services.
• Support cancer patients and their families with educational programs, emotional support, and financial assistance during treatment.
• Develop innovative cancer care programs that combine the expertise of Sonoma Valley Hospital and UCSF Medical Center, offering the highest standard of care available anywhere.
