“Wine Country for All of Us”
Sonoma County has always been a haven for trailblazers and dreamers. Immigrant families established vineyards, farms, and businesses that define our region today. Decades ago, LGBTQ+ pioneers found refuge and joy in Guerneville along the Russian River. And Women’s History Month was born right here, a testament to the strong, bold voices shaping our communities.
This is why Sonoma County Tourism has launched “Wine Country for All of Us,” our commitment to ensuring every visitor, regardless of background, ability, or experience level, feels like they belong here.
Why Now? Because Belonging Matters. The world can often feel divided, but travel has the power to bring people together, spark joy, and remind us what really matters. We’re still fueled by resilience and inclusivity. Wine Country for All of Us is just a new chapter in this ongoing story.
Mark Twain said, “Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness.” We invite all to include travel as part of helping ensure we put love, acceptance and understanding at the core of our life exploration.
What Does
This Mean for Visitors?
Sonoma County is committed to providing a welcome mat that ushers you into a place where you can be your authentic self. We know many of our visitors require accessible accommodations, and a new program with Wheel the World will help ensure travelers understand what’s available to them throughout the region.
Wine Country for All of Us celebrates a spirit of warmth, creativity, and community.
So, come as you are. Bring your curiosity, your sense of adventure, and your appetite for something new.

Five Reasons to Visit Sonoma County in 2025
Don’t take it from us, travel publications are touting Sonoma County as a top travel destination for 2025!
Whether it’s your first visit or your favorite getaway, Sonoma County welcomes all with unforgettable adventures and meaningful connections. From hiking among redwoods to savoring local wines, every moment in Sonoma County invites you to explore, connect, and celebrate life. Travel writers are discovering this special spot and the flexibility it offers, allowing travelers to create a journey as unique they are.
This is one of the reasons Travelzoo chose Sonoma County as one of just nine worldwide destinations as a “Best Bet” for travel in 2025.
1. The Views Traversing the Sonoma County coast offers views for miles. Look in one direction to see the awe-inspiring Pacific Ocean and the rugged coastline. Look in another direction and you’ll see rolling hills, wildflowers and even a meandering cow or two.
A journey through Sonoma County also offers myriad opportunities to gaze across verdant vineyards, through majestic redwood forests and into historic and charming towns. The views are as diverse as the landscape.
2. A Dedication to Sustainability
Sonoma County has been committed to sustainability for more than a decade. First, winegrowers committed to making Sonoma County the first fully sustainable wine region in the world – they accomplished this goal in 2018. Then Sonoma County Tourism became the first official Destination Stewardship Organization in the tourism industry and created partnerships with organizations designed to help promote respectful travel.
Travelers to Sonoma County are encouraged to respect the natural and cultural resources through abiding by the Leave No Trace Seven Principles of responsible travel and Kind Traveler’s Every Stay Gives Back program. Every day, Sonoma County’s businesses are showing their commitment to sustainability and stewardship through their ethical and thoughtful business practices and guest offerings.
In November 2024, La Crema was named American Winery of the Year by Wine Enthusiast magazine at the 25th annual Wine Star Awards. While this award celebrates the winery’s exceptional wine, it also recognizes its commitment to sustainability, its support for diversity and inclusion, and its role as a proud, women-led winery. Wine Enthusiast says: “La Crema is showing the world what Sonoma County is all about: Innovation, stewardship, and heart.”
3. The Culture There’s so much more to Sonoma County than wine. From the rugged coastline and tranquil redwood forests to lively farmers markets and vibrant art galleries, every experience reflects the diversity and creativity of the people who call Sonoma County home.
The Long Island Press discovered this about Sonoma County, writing, “Wine tastings are the perfect metaphor for Sonoma County, where art and nature intertwine just about everywhere you go in the most marvelously energizing, invigorating, vitalizing and inspiring ways.”
4. All Are Welcome Travel Pulse included Sonoma County in its list of top 25 LGBTQ+ destinations to visit in 2025, highlighting its welcoming nature and purpose-driven offerings.
The publication called out spots like Equality Vines, the world’s first causewine portfolio dedicated to equality for
all people, and events like Women’s Weekend, Gay Wine Weekend, Lazy Bear Week, and the Russian River Pride Parade and Festival.
Wine Country for All of Us creates a welcome mat for all to feel welcome and embraced. In 2025, a partnership with Wheel the World will help convey the offerings for visitors seeking accessible accommodations.
5. Endless Activities Calling it a perfect spot for a girls getaway and a bachelorette celebration, U.S. News & World Report couldn’t help but share the amount of activities available to visitors in Sonoma County. “Go wine tasting via private shuttle, open-air trolley, e-bike or motorcycle sidecar. Other activities include hot air balloon rides, hiking at Armstrong Redwoods State Natural Reserve, tubing down the Russian River, getting pampered at a spa, shopping in the upscale boutiques in the charming Sonoma and Healdsburg plazas, or visiting the ‘Sonoma Serengeti’ with Safari West.”
