our story
The world produces a staggering 92 million tons of textile waste annually and Kenya alone sees 37 million tonnes of clothing dumped every year. The crisis of pollution and waste, identified by UNEP as one of the triple planetary crises, has far-reaching and growing impacts.
Kwa Watuu is a youth led sustainable art initiative that is trying to empower communities from being helpless victims of waste and pollution into the very problem solvers the world needs. We are putting back the power in the hands of the people, enabling them to be active agents of change. It's a vision of empowerment, sustainability, and community resilience.
