WINE TASTING TIPS See the Color With your glass tilted to the side check the wine’s color against a white background. A Cabernet Sauvignon should have a deep red color. Chardonnay should be clear and range from almost white to gold. A pale brick shade would suggest a Sangiovese. Swirl for Bouquet
It’s important to swirl the wine in your glass to release the aromatics responsible for its wonderful aroma. Perhaps you will pick up on chocolate and cherries in a rich red, or sense tropical notes in a Sauvignon Blanc.
Sip and Savour
Chardonnay is full-bodied, creamy, and has an oaky taste from the aged barrels. As for the reds, the Pinot Noir is fruity and light, with a spicy taste; the Merlot is more subtle and smooth; the Cabernet Sauvignon evokes a taste of black currant and dried herbs.

Owners Billy and Susan Johnson decided to honor their deep Texas roots and families’ histories with an estate winery located just 3 miles outside of Fredericksburg on Grapetown Rd. Its theme is “Honoring our past, while celebrating the present.” Grape varietals planted are Allicante Bouchet, Malbec, Tempranillo, Souzao, Tannat and Viognier on eleven and a half acres at the current time, with plans to plant three more acres in the spring of 2019.
