Sonäge Glycopolymer: Safer, More Refined and More Effective Than Glycolic Acid

Out of all the AHAs, Glycolic acid is the most potent in its capabilities for exfoliation and the improvement of the structural integrity of the skin far into the dermis. However, because of its random molecular motion, its positive effects on the skin are often hit or miss. When a Glycolic acid molecule misses its mark, it may sometimes cause problems such as hyperpigmentation, hypo-pigmentation, blisters, rashes and breakouts.

By linking Glycolic acid molecules into strands called Glycopolymers, it is possible to penetrate the skin along the lines of the skin’s natural polymers: elastin and collagen. Once it is oriented to the skin’s natural polymers, the glycopolymer breaks down into its individual units and interacts more precisely with the skin’s support structure.

PROPRIETARY EXFOLIATION SYSTEM

Sonäge Glycopolymer: Safer, More Refined and More Effective Than Glycolic Acid

STRENGTHEN:

There are several ingredients in the Glycopolymer that contribute to the skin’s revitalization.

+ The first ingredient is Glucosamine HCl (D), which is a precursor to glycosaminoglycans. It improves moisture content, increases hydration, and strengthens connective tissues to resist breakdown. It also has potent antioxidant properties to keep skin clear and healthy.

+ The second major strengthening ingredients are Fructooligosaccharides (D-beta), which are naturally-occurring carbohydrates derived from cane or beet sugar. These promote the growth of healthy probiotic bacteria that strengthen skin immunity so that skin becomes healthy and stays healthy.

CLARIFY:

Once skin has been strengthened, reinforced, and set on a path to recovery, there are three ingredients that work together to heal and brighten skin tone.

+ The first ingredient is Glycolic Acid, an Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that is used as an exfoliator to remove dead skin cells. Glycolic Acid smooths skin texture, reduces signs of wrinkles, and rejuvenates the skin.

+ The second ingredient is Aminoguanidine HCl, an inhibitor of protein glycation and Advanced Glycation End (AGE) products that rejuvenates skin.

+ The third ingredient is Lavender, a botanical astringent with natural soothing and healing properties. Taken from its flowers, lavender normalizes oil production, reduces skin inflammation, and is cleansing and antibacterial. All of these ingredients skillfully firm, tighten, and brighten the skin.

+ Glycopolymer is effective in the fight against acne. Acne Vulgaris is caused by altered patterns of follicular keratinization. Because of its polymeric nature, glycopolymer directly influences the epidermal keratinization process. Rather than exerting a direct keratolytic effect like Glycolic Acid or other AHA’s, glycopolymer corrects this by targeting the infundibulum portion of the pilosebaceous unit. This blocks the closing off of the comedones. Because glycopolymer has a much broader range of application than Glycolic acid and other AHA’s, dermatologists are using it to treat certain inflammatory skin diseases, malignancies, fungal infections, bacterial infections, viral infections and hyperpigmentation.

Remove with a warm EO-free towel. Optional: Steam lightly during cleansing if you decide to extract the skin. Extract immediately after steaming. This should last 5-7 minutes max.

2. FACIAL RINSE

Apply a generous amount Facial Rinse on a facial 4x4 to massage lightly all over the skin. If the client’s skin is highly inflamed with heavy erythema, apply multiple 4x4s soaked to cover the full face and massage with gentle tapotement to calm the compromised barrier.

3. GOMMAGE EXFOLIATING GEL® OR POM CRUSH DETOX ENZYME MASK

Choose between exfoliation steps based on your client’s skin condition or mosaic treat the skin according to the needs of each ecosystem. If the skin is experiencing excess dryness, start with the Gommage Exfoliating Gel® as a manual exfoliation, wait a minute or two for it to absorb and remove any excess Gommage using a dry natural bristle brush. Using 2 Q-Tips, apply Lactic Acid Peel. - This part can feel pretty intense (but in a good way!) Cover & protect the eye area. Apply a light and even layer of Lactic Peel to the face, neck, and décolleté. Observe the client’s skin for flushing, frosting, or other reaction. Lactic acid has a large molecular structure, and doesn’t penetrate as rapidly as a glycolic acid. Lactic helps polish the skin surface. Neutralize the peel with caution as there may be sensitivity. Avoid performing extractions.

Optional: If the skin is sensitized, irritated, or over-exfoliated, do notmassage or mask the skin. Apply a light layer of Laserine Botanical Salve instead to help calm the skin and assist with rapid recovery. Proceed to Step 8.

6. LASERINE BOTANICAL SALVE + MODIFIED JESSNER SOLUTION

Protect the eye and lip area with Laserine Botanical Salve and wet cotton pad. Apply Modified Jessner Solution with a fan brush, layer by layer starting with the forehead down to the cheeks. Apply up to 3 layers and allow the skin to dry between layers. A fan may used for the client’s comfort. The skin becomes a whitish color (sometimes more applications may be needed to obtain the crystal color/up to 7 layers).

+ Following the application of the Jessner Peel the face has a frosted appearance, this will fade within 1 to 2 hours post peel application. Skin will feel hot at first and appear red, then deeper brown. Peeling starts after the 4th or 5th day and continues until day 7 or longer. Tightness and dryness are normal behavior. No makeup application during 7 day following Modified Jessner and no sun exposure post treatment. Space your future chemical peeling treatment applications for at least 4-5 weeks.

+ The client will feel a burning and pulsating sensation that will last for 3 to 7 minutes.

+ Males should not shave until the peeling stage is finished. Shaving may be done a day prior to the treatment. + Follow-up visit, 1 week post-chemical peeling is recommended. Keep in touch with your client daily.

RECOMMENDED HOME CARE REGIMEN

DAY 1 + 2: LASERINE BOTANICAL SALVE

Spray skin with cool water for 3 to 5 times daily to lessen hot sensation and discomfort (do not rub). Apply Laserine Botanical Salve around mouth and eye area. Must use SPF if stepping outside.

DAY 3— onwards: SOOTHING CLEANSING CRÈME

Extracted from the leaves of Wintergreen and the bark of Sweet Birch, Salicylic Acid delivers antiinflammatory properties found in Aspirin and is part of the Salicylate family.

Excellent “Pore Cleanser”- because of its lipid-soluble function, this BHA dislodges residue from the pores that cause clogging and reduce inflammation, helping release the sebum (oil secretion). The exfoliative properties of Salicylic Acid have been shown, over time, to diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by promoting collagen growth. Exfoliation leads to reduction in thickness of the dead skin cell layer, which gives the skin a brighter, more glowing appearance. This acid is also preventative. Frequent use will help clear away the dead skin and debris pileups that cause dullness and the collagen loss that can contribute to fine lines.

Salicylic Acid reduces the number of primary and inflammatory lesions, and the severity of all lesions associated with acne. It has strong healing factors, diminishes redness, addresses systemic causes of blemishes and prevents scarring. Salicylic Acid induces skin peeling (increase cell renewal) and achieves anti-aging benefits. Salicylic Acid Peel is a safer alternative to deeper peels such as TCA, Obagi Blue Peel, Phenols.

Apply the Salicylic Acid Peel 20% apply with 2 Q-Tips for 2-3 minutes (depending on skin condition) extend time if skin is thicker or depth of peel is required. There will be a prickling sensation. If a burning sensation is felt, remove peeling with cool water, neutralize immediately. Neutralize skin with Baking Soda 1/3 tsp in 4oz water to restore pH balance.

8. LASERINE® BOTANICAL SALVE

Apply Laserine® as an ointment, remove excess after a few minutes.
