COVID-19 Updates Thank you to our donors who supported our COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund and the Feed the Frontline Campaign! We are more than grateful for your generosity and compassion during critical times. Thanks to your help, more than $32,000 was raised to supply proper personal protective equipment for our employees and 625 employees received gift cards to local restaurants. Of the $32,000 raised for the COVID-19 Emergency Response Fund, $25,000 was directly donated by a combined effort of the SOMC Hope, Kardia, Service and Scioto Guild.

» Ben & Toni Gill
Ben & Toni Gill have been connected to SOMC their entire lives. Both were born at Scioto Memorial Hospital and raised in Scioto County. Ben, who became SOMC’s President & CEO in February, has worked at SOMC since 2001. Toni is a local elementary school teacher, so their roots in Scioto County run deep. Outside of work, they are heavily involved in the community. Both of their children, Maddie and Brady, attend high school and are involved in several school activities; so, they spend a lot of time and energy supporting them. When they’re not cheering from the stands, the Gills are huge supporters of SOMC and its mission to promote the health and wellness of the community, and one way they show their support is through the SOMC Development Foundation. “It’s been an honor to participate on the SOMC Development Board for the last several years,” Ben said. “It’s eye-opening to see the impact on the organization and the communities we serve.” The Gills are exceptionally proud of SOMC for its outstanding care and service. The recognition through awards is not the goal but the byproduct of an incredible hospital team and generous community. “Together, these 3,000+ individuals contribute to a unique culture supporting our vision to be the best, because our community deserves no less than that,” Ben said. “Over the last several years, there is a renewed optimism in the community that is gratifying to see. SOMC’s success is linked with the community we serve. We rise together, and we must support one another. That’s why the SOMC Development Foundation is so critical.” In addition to their ongoing support, the Gills recently became a Community Champion for the Development Foundation. Being a Community Champion allows businesses and individuals to support multiple funds. “We want to make a difference here locally, a goal shared by those who govern and operate the SOMC Development Foundation,” Ben said. “They
are committed to using their resources to meet the specific needs of our community.” One cause that the Gills have been a part of since day one has been the Hospice Expansion Project. “Everyone knows someone who has benefited from our Hospice program. I was privileged to watch as teams developed and designed an expansion to our inpatient unit,” Ben said. “This project will enable more people to experience the care and compassion unique to this service. We were pleased to support the project and gratified that our community stepped up in a very big way to make it possible.” The SOMC Development Foundation is grateful for the support it has received from the community and donors across the country. “The mission of the SOMC Development Foundation is to make a difference by identifying the community’s health and wellness needs while bridging the gap between those needs and the cost of the solutions. Every dollar donated addresses a demonstrated need locally,” Ben said. “You will see the impact of your support first-hand. We all confront many of the same challenges, and it is vital that we support one another as we face them.” The mission of the Development Foundation is made possible through the generosity of donors like the Gills.
