Javier Cepedano Leon Business Owners Federation President

From the most representative organizations of which the Leon Business Owners Federation is part: CEOE, CEPYME and CECALE, we defend the Corporate Social Responsibility (RSC) practices as an instrument of competitiveness for companies, thus increasing their efficiency and improving their position in the market. The initial objective of many company is to be an organization that progressively obtains benefits, that is, an organization with an economic responsibility. Over the years, this objective has evolved and today the company is committed to the whole society and not only to its partners, shareholders or owners. This commitment is the CSR currently considered a fundamental element in the strategic planning of large companies and, increasingly, of SMEs. However, there are many companies that go beyond. They are CSR in themselves, as SOLTRA in Leon. The CSR in SOLTRA is the maximum expression of its commitment to people, understood not as a duty of the comEdit: SOLTRA Manager: Josean Idoeta Coordination: Gemma González Edition: María Fdez Torre Design: Ramón Buzón Legal Deposit: LE-561-2012

pany but as something inherent in its origin and development. This is the success of SOLTRA, which was born as an innovative and pioneering project putting people in value. All this makes it a national and even international reference in the field of inclusion and its firm commitment to employment. CSR must be promoted as a way of managing that adds value, increases the competitiveness and reputation of companies and im proves the conditions of the economic, social and environmental in which they operate. It is a commitment that is the main challenge of companies today, mainly in SMEs. The integration of CSR initiatives in their own culture and values reinforces their competitive capacity, in addition to im proving their economic viability. For many, assuming this voluntary commitment can mean an added effort to daily business activity. To change that conception business organizations are im portant. That include companies like SOLTRA among its mem bers. Companies that conC/ Monseñor Ramón Zubieta 9 La Virgen del Camino 24198 - León T 987 300 731 info@soltra.org www.soltra.org

sider CSR as an opportunity to generate greater profitability and long- term benefits, and we no longer only speak in monetary terms. The CSR broadens the strategic vision of the business by ceasing to focus attention only in the economic sphere. As I say, it is the entrepreneurs themselves who must assume and promote this type of policy. In the specific case of SOLTRA, we have to favor a meeting point between the business sector and intellectual disability so that organizations ar aware of the potential of this group. Preaching by example and encouraging this type of hiring is the only way to see how people with disabilities become an asset to the economic fabric. SOLTRA is the mirror to look at. In FELE we cannot think of a better example, and from here my most sincere congratulations for leading a reference project .
