To the Buyers and Sellers of the Ruidoso Select Yearlings,
We’re honored to be back at Ruidoso for our third year, and we’re grateful to every buyer, seller, and friend who has made this sale feel like home. Your support and trust are the foundation of everything we do, and this year we have more to celebrate than ever.
Our team remains second to none. Dustin Price continues to lead our racehorse fitting division with unmatched expertise. Dawson Price and Tanner Richardson work together to bring the horsemanship and work ethic that keep the barn running like a well-oiled machine. Matt Witman and Butch Wise have once again gone above and beyond to help us assemble a powerful group of horses. And Ty Smith and I are incredibly proud to work alongside each of them.
Thanks to the confidence of our clients, we are privileged to represent some of the most exciting yearlings in the country. We’re humbled by the opportunity to bring these horses to market, and we don’t take that responsibility lightly.
What a year it has been. Last year we told you we couldn’t wait to see the first Lets Leave foals hit the ground. This spring they arrived, and they were worth the wait. Strong, balanced, and stamped with their sire’s presence, they are everything we hoped for, and watching that first crop grow has been one of the great joys of our year. We believe you’ll be hearing their names for a long time to come.
Our stallion station also welcomed a legend. Jess Good Candy, the undefeated All American Futurity Champion, joined our roster this year, and what an addition he has been. He retired a perfect eight for eight with earnings of $2,014,703, one of only two stallions in history to earn more than two million dollars on the track. Now a proven leading sire, he stood his first season at Solo Select this spring, and we are honored that PV Quarter Horse Farms chose us as his home.
Solo Select continues to grow, with more breeders entrusting us to manage their mares and foals and more stallion owners partnering with us to drive results. To keep up with demand, we’ve added two new fitting barns and have broken ground on a brand new, state-of-the-art mare and foaling facility in Lake Kiowa. Spanning 120 acres with 120 stalls, it will bring our operations even closer together between our South Ranch, our recipient mare farm, and this new ranch, giving us nearly 500 stalls, over 2,500 recipient mares, and more than 1,500 acres to serve you.
If you’re looking for a hands-on partner to help take your program to the next level, whether it’s through mare management, stallion promotion, or yearling prep, we’d love the opportunity to visit.
We’re grateful to be here, and we’re committed to delivering the same professionalism, care, and performance you’ve come to expect from our team. We look forward to meeting new faces, reconnecting with friends, and celebrating another exceptional group of horses.
Sincerely,
Melanie Smith & the Solo Select Team
