DARRYL EALES Welcome to this afternoon’s New Year’s Eve fixture against Tamworth.
But that is part of the overall challenge which all of us at the club relish.
I’d like to wish everyone connected with the Moors a healthy and prosperous 2025 and thank all fans, sponsors and staff for their wonderful support throughout 2024.
We are roughly half way through the season and sit handily in 7th position with that general consensus that we have left between 8-10 points in the pitch so far.
Moors remains a challenger club, despite the amazing exploits over the past 6 seasons, where we have so very nearly secured promotion to the EFL.
We believe that we have spent the budget pretty well this season but we have been handicapped by lengthy injuries to key players especially Tahvon Campbell and Jordan Tunnicliffe and a succession of frustrating muscle injuries which have meant Whingy has too infrequently had the full squad to select from.
This means that we need to maximise resources in all areas of the club and work tirelessly to build our supporter base and our commercial relationships. I’d like to say a special thank you to club and foundation staff who go over and beyond in their commitment to ensuring the club is at the heart of the community. The HAF event at the Regency Hotel just before Christmas exemplified the coming together of foundation, club and local community. It was a heartwarming, joyful and uplifting occasion and certainly one of my highlights of the festive period.
I think we all probably agree that we have been somewhat inconsistent and we have simply not kept enough clean sheets when, given our quality, we expected to have a strong defensive record. So, having said the above, our current league position gives us a sound platform to hopefully kick on in the second half of the season and secure a play off place. For once, and hopefully advantageously, we don’t have any cup distractions going forward so that all attention can be focused on the league!
On the playing side, we do have a reasonably competitive budget that should place us in and around the play offs but we certainly don’t enjoy the budgets, or indeed attendances, that clubs As always, get behind the team today and enjoy such as York, Forest Green and Oldham enjoy the game.

One of Tom’s this one, with Clarkey and Jack Stevens celebrating a comprehensive home win. It also reminds me of the one of I took of Jack and Newts at the play-off semi final at Barnet last season.
As Tom was doing the attacking end it was my opportunity to “do the Booty end” so I could give some love to the defence, this one sees Joe Newton in a clash for control of the ball, Fylde looked dangerous down their right flank for the 1st twenty minutes of the game, and Newts certainly had his work cut out. I was sitting next to the Fylde Photographer for most of the afternoon, I noticed on the socials they had used his similar shot of this for their Full-Time graphic, I’m sure his was better that mine. I like shots of aerial battles in the box, this was during the closing stages of the game. Mozza back on the pitch as a late substitute, I like this picture as there is a little bit of symmetry with both the defenders arms outstretched in similar positions
Killian making a save in the closing stages, if you look carefully the ball is residing between his legs, there were appeals for a penalty from the visitors, but looking through the viewfinder I didn’t see any infringements, and obviously neither did the officials.

Andy Peaks is somewhat of a Northamptonshire hero, having played for the Cobblers, Rushden & Diamonds, Wellingborough Town and a few others! Peak was at the helm of AFC Rushden & Diamonds for nine years before making the move from Hayden Road to the Lamb Ground. Since making the move to Tamworth, his side have gone from strength to strength having won back-to-back promotions whilst also enjoying a magical Emirates FA Cup run where they’re set to host Tottenham Hotspur at home.
ONE TO WATCH TOM TONKS
Tamworth’s key player to look out for will be a familiar face to Solihull fans! Tom Tonks has set the world alight with his trademark long-throw which has won the Lambs numerous points since arriving from Rushall Olympic. The 33-year-old has enjoyed his football across the West Midlands, from the likes of Tipton Town to Stafford Rangers. Tonks’ trademark long-throw will be something that Andy Whing’s side will have to be wary of come 3pm this Tuesday, otherwise it could be a tricky afternoon for the Moors.

THE BADGE Early photographic records of the Tamworth FC kit show that the team played in a plain shirt with no badge. As fabrics and embroidery techniques became more advanced a couple of designs incorporating a Lamb appeared on kits in the 1950s. For those that may not be aware, a Lamb was chosen to reflect the club’s nickname after The Lamb Inn pub which once stood where the newest houses are built on the entrance to the car park off the Kettlebrook Road. From the 1966-67 season a 'Fleur-de-lys' design, incorporating the letters TFC was used. It was presented to the club by Tamworth Borough Council on 1st June 1966 in honour of the team's successes during the previous season and comes from the Borough’s 17th Century seal. The Fleur-de-lys can also be found on the Council’s coat of arms (above left). The current Fleur-de-lys design was then incorporated into the current motif in the summer of 1988 and was designed by the club secretary at the time, Pete Young.

Solihull Moors is at the heart of our local community and we are proud to share a heartwarming Christmas story with you.
We were recently contacted by Danny who is the walk leader for a group in Solihull called Men Walking and Talking. The overall organisation has been running since 2021, and was essentially born out of the pandemic when a lot of people started to suffer with their mental health. The idea was that the group meets once a week for a ‘walk and talk’ session with other like-
minded gents to essentially vent, console, air and discuss their personal challenges. There are now around 30 groups around the country all doing the same. We offered Danny and the group a chance to come along and watch a game and we also put them in touch with our good friends at Living Well. The Living Well Consortium offer free mental health servicers in Solihull and across the Birmingham area and services connecting over 40 charities and non profit organistations in the West Midlands. Ben Howell, CEO of Living Well takes up the story: “Danny and his group are doing great things and growing all the time. Just meeting people and talking regularly can play such a big part in people’s wellbeing and obviously football has an incredible part to play in that.” “We loved the enthusiasm from Danny and the group, as well as the club's support for the group, and so we offered the broup a chance to meet up in the Jerrom’s Suite as our guests ahead of the Tamworth game on New Year’s Eve, have something to eat, meet the Manager and enjoy a fantastic afternoon at a game that brings them together.
