In search of fair fashion in Peru
Fair fashion brings hope to Ayacucho, a region of Peru still mired in poverty by the aftermath of civil war. Our travel journalist Marie travelled there and discovered how Belgian labels have been ensuring that many women get a new life there for years.
I don't save money. My money goes to enjoying life: going out to restaurants, making beautiful trips and investing in my interior and wardrobe. Although I do try to be conscious of life's pleasures. My bulging wardrobe (yes, I confess) I carefully put together over the years. Long before #ikkoopbelgisch became trendy, I shopped as much home-grown fashion as possible. If I did buy clothes from an international brand, I tried to find out if they were made in fair conditions. When the organisation Fashion Revolution called for a more conscious approach to the fashion industry after the collapse of textile factories in Bangladesh in 2013, I started avoiding fast fashion and cheap chains even more. .....
