After three years of developing the activities of SunPower in the Middle East - closing significant deals in Morocco and Qatar, creating an extensive solar project in Egypt, Laurent joined Akuo Energy during summer 2015. He is based in Dubai and had been leading the development, the EPC activities, and operations of AKUO Group in the MENA region before being appointed as CEO of SirajPower – the UAE’s Leading Distributed Solar Energy Provider. Laurent has led the company’s success by achieving exponential growth of solar assets starting from 1 MW in 2015, to 100 MWp by 2021, across over 180 facilities. Under his leadership, the company structured and secured an innovative $50M non-recourse debt facility from APICORP, the first-of-its-kind in the region, paving the path for bankability of the distributed commercial & industrial solar market. He has been instrumental in building a team of 100 solar experts by 2021 covering the full solar value chain including business development, engineering, project management, procurement, operations & maintenance and other supporting functions; expanding SirajPower’s operations geographically beyond the UAE into neighboring GCC countries (KSA, Bahrain and Oman); diversifying SirajPower’s offering into new cutting-edge technologies such as solar & battery storage systems, and virtual power distribution; leading the expansive growth, offering substantial savings not only to large industrial sectors, but also in other market segments including Education, Real Estate, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), and Food & Beverage. Laurent has been awarded by DEWA Gold Category under the Shams Dubai regulation, Emirates Energy Awards - Distributed Solar Generation Award, and MESIA’s Solar Rooftop Project of the Year award.
