Raychem RPG’s solar products (junction box & connectors) – engineered for efficient connections The Critical Role of Low Resistance Losses in Solar Connectors and Junction Boxes As solar parks grow larger and module power ratings continue to rise, the importance of low-resistance components in the DC system has never been greater. While modules and inverters receive the most attention, two small components—solar connectors and solar junction boxes—quietly determine a plant’s long-term efficiency, safety, and profitability.
Why Resistance Matters Every solar park operates on direct current (DC), where resistance (R) in any component causes power loss, expressed as: Power Loss = I² × R With today’s modules carrying currents of 13–18 A, even a slight increase in resistance generates heat, energy loss, and long-term degradation. Across thousands of connectors and junction boxes in a utility-scale project, these “small losses” become major inefficiencies.
Connectors: The Invisible Gatekeepers of Performance Low-resistance connectors ensure smooth current transfer between modules and strings. High resistance can lead to: Power losses across the DC network Excessive heat, causing melting or arcing Inverter tripping due to unstable current flow Increased O&M costs from frequent replacements Studies show that connectors account for a significant portion of DCside failures in solar parks—proof of their critical role.
Junction Boxes: The Heart of Every Module The solar junction box houses bypass diodes and the module’s internal wiring. Low-resistance pathways within the J-box help: Maintain stable diode function Prevent module hotspots Reduce thermal stress on solder joints Create higher module-level efficiency A poorly designed J-box can undermine even the most advanced PV module.
According to Helio Volta’s independent inspections for the field losses occurring in solar parks and rooftop installation (reported in mid-2025): 83% of projects inspected suffered from at least one connector-related issue. 45% of sites had major connector issues requiring urgent maintenance. 4.3% of projects faced critical connector failures requiring partial or total system de-energisation. The majority of issues stemmed from preventable causes such as improper installation.
A Small Component, A Big Difference In utility-scale solar parks, the spotlight often falls on high-efficiency modules and advanced inverters. Yet, the true performance of a solar asset also depends on the “small but critical” components—solar connectors and junction boxes—that quietly ensure stable power delivery across thousands of modules. Minimising resistance losses in these components is essential for maintaining electrical efficiency, reducing thermal stress, and enhancing long-term safety. Raychem RPG have strengthened this segment with a portfolio of highperformance solar connectors and Junction boxes engineered specifically for demanding utility-scale conditions. Our products are designed with ultra-low contact resistance, high current-carrying capacity, UV and weather-resistant materials, and robust thermal performance, making them ideal for long-duration solar park operations. By reducing I²R losses and preventing localised heating, Raychem RPG’s solutions help ensure uninterrupted current flow, improved PR, and superior long-term reliability. For developers, EPCs, and asset owners, choosing Raychem RPG’s certified, low-resistance solar products is not merely a technical preference—it is a strategic investment. These components maximise plant yield, enhance system uptime, reduce O&M burdens, and protect profitability over a solar plant’s 25+ year lifecycle. In an industry where every fraction of a percent in efficiency translates to measurable gains, Raychem RPG’s solar products deliver the performance edge that modern solar parks demand.
Impact on Utility-Scale Solar Parks In a 100 MW plant, a mere 0.5% energy loss due to resistance equates to 850–950 MWh of energy lost annually. This translates into reduced revenue, lower performance ratio (PR), and extended payback periods. High resistance also increases field failures, elevating O&M burdens and lowering system reliability.

From Cell Architecture to Site Performance: Redefining Energy Yield KEY HIGHLIGHTS: N-Type
TOPCon technology delivers higher yield and lower degradation than Mono PERC and Poly modules. Bifacial double-glass modules add a bankable 5–10% energy gain in Indian conditions. Multi-GW expansion with 600W+ TOPCon modules supports India’s high-efficiency solar demand.
Q
How does TOPCon cell technology improve energy yield and reduce degradation compared to Mono PERC and Polycrystalline modules?
Novasys Greenergy’s N-Type TOPCon technology delivers higher real-world energy yield and stronger long-term reliability compared to Mono PERC and Polycrystalline modules. By using advanced tunnel-oxide passivated contacts on highpurity n-type wafers, TOPCon cells significantly reduce carrier recombination, resulting in higher efficiency, stronger bifacial response, and a better temperature coefficient. These modules also avoid boron–oxygen related LID and show far lower LeTID and PID, ensuring stable performance even under long-term field stress. Together, TOPCon’s superior cell architecture and low-degradation characteristics mean more kilowatt-hours per year, improved lifecycle output, and higher project value for commercial, industrial, and utility-scale solar plants.
INDIA
Q
What additional energy gain can developers expect from your bifacial double-glass modules in Indian conditions?
In typical Indian ground-mounted conditions, Novasys’s bifacial double-glass TOPCon modules deliver a conservative additional energy gain of about 5–10% versus an equivalent monofacial module, rising to 10–18% where site conditions are favourable (higher ground reflectance, elevated mounting and wide row spacing). The actual bifacial uplift depends mainly on ground albedo, module height/tilt, row spacing and the module’s bifaciality: with common Indian surfaces (bare soil/grass, albedo ~0.15–0.25) gains cluster in the low single-digits to ~10%, while reflective finishes (white pebbles, concrete or dedicated reflective pads with albedo ~0.4–0.6) can push annual bifacial gains into the mid-teens or higher. For project planning we recommend using a conservative baseline of ~5–8% for bankable yield estimates in most Indian sites and modelling site-specific scenarios (albedo, mounting height, and bifaciality) to capture upside — these ranges are consistent with recent field studies and literature on bifacial performance in India and similar climates.
Q
How are Novasys modules engineered to withstand India’s extreme weather while maintaining long performance warranties?
Novasys modules are engineered for India’s harsh and diverse climate through robust materials, reinforced mechanical design, and stringent reliability testing that supports long-term performance warranties. Our double-glass construction, UV-resistant encapsulants, and high-strength frames are
Bharat Renewable Expo & Intersolar Special l Nov-Dec Issue 2025
built to withstand high temperatures, heavy rainfall, coastal humidity, sand-laden winds, and extreme diurnal temperature swings. Each module undergoes accelerated ageing tests— including thermal cycling, damp-heat, mechanical load, hail impact, and PID resistance—to ensure long-term stability in real-world Indian field conditions. High-purity N-type TOPCon cells further reduce degradation from LID and LeTID, ensuring the power output remains consistent over decades. Together, these engineering choices allow Novasys to deliver reliable, high-yield modules backed by strong performance warranties for utility, industrial, and rooftop applications across India.
Q
How is Novasys planning capacity growth and product innovation to meet the rising demand for high-efficiency TOPCon modules in India?

POWER TALKS AKARSH GUPTA Director Chemi Tech Constructions Pvt Ltd
From FRP Advancements to ZAM Innovation: Chemi Tech’s 2025 Solar Leap KEY HIGHLIGHTS: Chemi Tech is introducing hybrid FRP– Steel structures and ZAM-based kits to boost corrosion resistance and system longevity. Their nationwide supply chain ensures rapid BoS delivery within days, reducing logistics and procurement costs for projects. The company has scaled FRP and MMS production significantly, achieving multi-fold capacity growth and major installation milestones this year.
Q
What new innovations have you introduced in Solar MMS and FRP products this year?
As you are aware, our Solar MMS manufacturing unit started only 7 months ago, and we already have some marquee clients associated with us. FRP Unit started around 4 years ago and we have gained significant market share in that unit. Now, we are working towards designing structures which will have elements of both FRP and Steel in them. FRP, as a composite, has many benefits, including the freedom to modify on the site itself. They are also highly resistant to corrosion. We will start introducing some sections of the structure table, like bracings in FRP from this year, which will reduce weight and also increase life. We have also started manufacturing ZAM (Zinc-Aluminium-Magnesium) sections, and we hope to develop kits for solar rooftop projects using ZAM this year.
INDIA
Unlike Pre-GI, which is predominantly used in the PM Suryaghar today, and has a life of around 4-5 years, ZAM provides corrosion resistance of more than 25 years.
Q
How do your Solar MMS, FRP walkways, and FRP trays ensure reliability and cost efficiency for Indian projects?
Our forte lies in supply chain management. Across our 13 warehouses and 15 distribution channels, we provide instant supplies to our customers. For example, for a tin-shed project, we can supply the complete BoS within 2 days, saving a lot of cost in terms of procurement overheads and logistics for our clients. Similarly, local presence also ensures fast serviceability for our customers.
Q
What major milestones or project highlights has Chemi Tech achieved this year in MMS and FRP installations?
We have already supplied around 300 km of solar walkways in the first 9 months of the financial year. For the MMS manufacturing unit, which is fairly new, we are targeting an output of around 3000 tonnes per month by March. Our in-house coil slitter will also be ready by January. We will be one of the very few solar MMS manufacturers to have in-house slitter. That will improve our production and service capabilities manifold. In FRP cable
Bharat Renewable Expo & Intersolar Special l Nov-Dec Issue 2025
trays, we are also commissioning new machines by the end of December, which will again double our production capacity. Overall, we have increased our FRP Cable Tray manufacturing by 4 times with this machine since the beginning of this financial year. In Aluminium rails also, we have achieved a target of around 20,000 rails (12 MW approx) supplies per month.
Q
What is your outlook for India’s solar PV market in 2025, and how are you preparing for future growth?
The market will move towards energy storage in 2026. There is a major transition that is expected to happen, where, perhaps, any system above 3 kW will have energy storage by default. We will see a greater adoption of storage in the C & I sector as well. We are planning an expansion of solar MMS manufacturing in the South as well and might take a call to start a greenfield project in Hyderabad for the same. We are very positive about the industry outlook for 2026. Our approach towards growth is always on the conservative side and we certainly do not believe in external investors coming onboard at the moment. We will be using internal accruals for growth. Next phase of the PM Suryaghar Yojana will be introduced I think in the later part of 2026, which will define the rooftop industry.

POWER TALKS RAHUL SHARMA CEO iPLON India
Smart Energy Management Powering India’s Clean Energy Future KEY HIGHLIGHTS: Established & Proven: Incorporated in 2013, iPLON India powers 5+ GW SCADA, 2+ GW PPC, 200+ microgrids, and 2,000+ rooftop plants across India. Advanced Control & Hybrid Expertise: Strong capabilities in SCADA, PPC, EMS, and microgrid control, including 100 MW Solar– Wind hybrid projects. Pan-India Presence & Global Partnership: Solar-Log® partner since 2018, with operations across Chennai (HQ), Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Rajasthan, and Punjab
Q
With over 5 GW of SCADA, PPC, and EMS deployments, what are the biggest grid integration challenges in India, and how is iPLON addressing them?
India’s grid integration challenges stem largely from the rapid growth of renewable energy and the inherent variability of solar and wind generation. Weather-dependent fluctuations directly affect grid stability, making predictable and well-controlled renewable output essential. Transmission constraints further complicate the situation—renewable capacity has expanded faster than transmission infrastructure, leading to congestion and curtailment, particularly in highgeneration regions. In addition, strong renewable resources are often located far from demand centers, placing sustained stress on long-distance networks. Climate change and extreme weather events add operational uncertainty, while cybersecurity, evolving grid codes, and real-time visibility requirements increase system complexity. At iPLON, we address these challenges through grid-engineered SCADA, PPC, and EMS solutions designed for India’s operating realities. Our platforms enable precise active and reactive power control, smooth ramping, voltage regulation, and structured curtailment execution, helping stabilize variable renewable generation. Q
iPLON has more than 2 GW of operational PPC installations— how do these systems support grid compliance and stable renewable integration?
Power Plant Controllers are central to transforming renewable plants from variable generators into disciplined, grid-compliant assets. As renewable penetration increases, plants must actively support voltage and frequency stability, rather than simply inject power. iPLON’s PPC platforms continuously manage active and reactive power, regulate power factor, and adapt plant output to dynamic grid conditions, ensuring compliance with increasingly stringent grid codes. Reactive power management and voltage control are especially critical in low-inertia systems. iPLON PPCs dynamically balance active and reactive components and support low- and high-voltage ride-through functions, allowing plants to remain connected during grid disturbances and strengthening overall resilience. Our systems also enable smooth ramping, controlled curtailment, and precise response to utility commands. Built on a robust, redundant architecture with secure communication and strong interoperability, iPLON PPCs ensure operational continuity even under weak-grid conditions. They also support nighttime SVG/STATCOM operation and seamless integration with external compensation devices, extending voltage and reactive power support beyond generation hours. Through these capabilities, iPLON PPCs ensure renewable plants actively enhance grid stability, compliance & reliability.
Q
As a SCADA provider integrated with MNRE and state SEDM portals under PM-KUSUM, how important is real-time data reporting for decentralized solar?
Real-time data reporting is fundamental to the success of decentralized solar programs like PM-
Bharat Renewable Expo & Intersolar Special l Nov-Dec Issue 2025
KUSUM. With assets spread across thousands of rural locations, continuous visibility is essential for performance monitoring, subsidy validation, billing accuracy, and regulatory oversight. Reliable data builds transparency and trust among stakeholders—DISCOMs, regulators, developers, and policymakers—ensuring systems are operational and public investments deliver measurable outcomes. To address rural connectivity challenges, iPLON combines local edge data buffering with secure MQTT-based communication. When networks are unavailable, plant data is logged locally without loss and automatically synchronized once connectivity is restored. This ensures uninterrupted reporting to MNRE and SEDM portals, maintaining compliance even under intermittent network conditions. The availability of real-time and buffered data also enables analytics, anomaly detection, and long-term performance optimization, strengthening the digital backbone of India’s distributed solar ecosystem.
Q
What role will smart energy management and grid integration play in India’s clean energy transition?
As renewable penetration rises, smart energy management and advanced grid integration become indispensable. Intelligent SCADA, PPC, and EMS platforms provide real-time monitoring, predictive analytics, automated control, and optimized coordination across utility-scale and distributed systems. They support hybrid energy systems, improve forecasting, enforce compliance, and enhance resilience while maintaining power quality and reliability. For India, these technologies bridge operational realities with national clean energy ambitions. At iPLON, our mission is to deliver intelligent, resilient, and future-ready energy management solutions that strengthen grid stability, improve economics, and enable sustainable growth. Smart energy management is not just a technology layer—it is a strategic enabler of India’s clean energy future.

As of November 2025, India’s installed hybrid projects capacity reached 3,339.63 MW, contributing around 2.51% to the country’s total solar PV capacity. This is part of the overall renewable energy capacity of 203.6 GW, excluding large hydro. Hybrid projects, which combine solar and wind power, are currently limited to just three states: Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Karnataka. Among these, Rajasthan leads with the highest installed capacity of 1,980 MW. This is mainly because the state has strong potential for both solar and wind energy. Rajasthan receives high solar irradiation and also experiences strong wind speeds, making it ideal for hybrid energy generation. The installed capacity of hybrid projects has shown a year-on-year growth of about 20.85% compared to November 2024, when it stood at 2,763.54 MW. This steady growth highlights the increasing focus on hybrid projects as a solution to improve grid stability and renewable energy utilization.

In October 2025, the Indian Energy Exchange (IEX) reached a total volume of 11,233 million units (MU), a 16.% year-over-year increase. The market experienced a notable drop in electricity prices due to high liquidity. This surplus was driven by a combination of steady coal-based power and enhanced generation from hydro, solar, and wind sources. Consequently, the average price in the Day-Ahead Market fell by 32% to ₹2.67 per unit, while the Real-Time Market price dropped by 27.8% to ₹2.73 per unit. These lower rates provided an opportunity for distribution companies and industrial consumers to replace expensive power with more cost-effective options from the exchange.

BIDDING DETAILS
The rollout of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-I for solar PV modules, along with the forthcoming ALMM List-II for PV cells set to take effect in June 2026, has introduced new compliance challenges for developers participating in India’s solar auctions. These regulatory changes, coupled with ongoing global supply chain disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions—such as the Russia-Ukraine conflict, U.S. trade tariffs, and volatile currency exchange rates—have contributed to noticeable fluctuations in solar tariffs. While the government has extended project commissioning timelines to provide relief, developers continue to face rising cost pressures. Initiatives like the GST relief on solar PV modules and components, effective from September 2025, and India achieving over 122 GW of solar PV module manufacturing capacity, offer some support. At the same time, U.S. tariff hikes on solar imports have tightened global module supply, pushing prices higher and indirectly affecting the Indian market. Amid these challenges, the growing availability of domestically manufactured solar PV inverters provides a significant boost, instilling confidence among developers to bid more competitively. As a result, solar tariffs in India through 2024 have remained volatile, influenced by material costs, project scale, grid connectivity, and now, increased reliance on domestic technology.
