Currently I’m a 4th-year architecture student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Most of the projects I have taken on in my class have been ones I feel explore my interests into more unique and specific programming as well as my interests. I believe this has made my view of architecture to be where I see myself using it to help create unique experiences for the community while being more sustainability-conscious.

Situate | CrvLT Building ARCH 311 | Prof. J. Griffths | April 2022
Located at a research biological station in Ogallala, Nebraska, this Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) building would allow students & staff access to a workshop and production areas on the first floor, as well as exhibition and library space to show off and explore research & projects done at Cedar Point. To situate the building and give a sense of curvature, the building was designed using triANGLES, a System of vertices and edges to create the idea of an “organic” roof with a rectilinear and “civilized” floor plan. To situate the building and give a sense of curvature, triANGLES were implemented, angling towards the entrance while pointing outwards to views of the landscape. Next use the triangles’ vertexes and edges for the roofing system. This creates a floor plan that is “civilized”, with rectilinear angles and 90° corners while the roof is “organic” and more free in form- creating a unique experience from the exterior and interior. The roofing may seem to curved, but has a roofing structure made of many linear CLT beams broken into smaller piece which is overlaid with curved CLT panels, giving the illusion of curvature.

Interoperability | Houston Datascape ARCH 492 | Matthew Goldsberry | January 2022
To create a “datascape” to visually explain a city or urban fabric by using Open-Source data and Grasshopper plug-ins to achieve a model. The specific model is information on Houston, TX, in the Downtown area. Specific information was gathered for the purpose of understanding some environmental factors and how those would play into the lives of people who are in the area. This included zipcode boundries, bike-accesible routes, waterways, 100 year flood-prone areas, brownfield areas, tree locations along streets and commercial, office, &residential buildings.

Ideation | Setting Up Camp ARCH 211 | Prof. Zac Porter | March 2021
To integrate precedent details into a campsite for 1-4 people sited in Rocky Mountain National Park. Rather than copying the specific details or material systems, to instead “aim to expand the upon the ideas embodied in the precedents to develop new tectonic configurations”. For this project, I decided to make this design applicable for families and/or couples. The material pallet mainly consists of wood and rock, which would be derived locally to fit the natural pallet and be more sustainable. Overall, is designed to be versatile and implemented in various locations & conditions. The elements were taken from my precedent: 15 Clarkenwell Close (a building from a previous project). The model shows the non-perpendicular angle of two exterior walls, the interior boxes, the notion of a fake structural element, an anchor detail, & an I-beam detail.

Ideation | 21st & O Street Bistro ARCH 211 | Prof. Zac Porter | May 2021
Theoretically located on 0 and 21st street, this building’s goal is to host 3 guest chefs from anywhere in the world. It only allow them chef to have a kitchen to hosts guests, but also living spaces to stay. The idea was for the building equally enjoyable for the chefs as it was for the guests, using greenery as a materiality. The first floor is split for the entertainment and seating area. The entertainment area is a fluid connection of 3 kitchen spaces surrounding a stage. This allows for new cultures, but also local cultures to be enjoyed by both chefs and guests. On the second level is the private spaces for the chefs. Each apartment is designed to be allow for new hobbies and ideas in the open spaces.

Representation | Architectual Interiors ARCH 210 | Prof. Bud Shenefelt | September 2020
This project was for us to explore making “seductive” interior spaces. We were tasked with taking aspects from our previous volumes from P1 to make the 6 interior spaces. Instead of using rendering or photo editing software, we had to make these physical models to the best of our capabilities. As you view these images, I wanted this experience to feel like you were following people through ruins that had been preserved inside a giant industrial space, hence the sharp contrast of the lighting to the structures’ crumbly textures. As you walk through, the previous interior would then connect you to the next space, though not quite literally. These architectural interiors would sometimes act as passages ways, while others would act as giant spaces of more unknown mystery. Many of these rooms have lots of lighting for eyes to study and explore, while some gave very little for brain to ponder and question.
