Air as an element of construction and composition. The Médici Center uses the principle of stacking to generate diverse spatial qualities, relationships with views and connectivity between the neighborhood and the avenue. The building revitalizes and highlights the Río Negro River through an artificial topography, home to the fine arts center, which not only emulates, but creates a continuity with the landscape by directing flow and the natural envionment into the building.

An exploration of the coexistence and clashes between different temporal layers in the Ancient wall of Cartagena, specifically the clock tower. The clock tower is the main entrance to the Old City, making it a landmark of great importance within the Wall of Cartagena and an urban cluster object of the history of the city. The tower is composed of numerous elements, of which their origins can be traced back to different historical periods. Each element a reflection of a moment in time showcasing this space’s unique character. It is unified by additional elements that permeate the entire artifact, such as the permanent presence of water and the ruinous finish it creates, or the voids within the wall that offer transitional spaces between temporal layers.
SELECTED WORKS
A natural barrier dedicated to the conservation and recreation of the original coral reef in the port of Cartagena, which engages the community and protects the city from future floods due to climate change. Designed by iterations of ABB robotic paths and Grasshopper codes, this center represents the clash of the vertical and horizontal passage of time observed through the layers of materiality, uses and objects added by human intervention to the iconic Wall of Cartagena.

A proyect of mixed uses, created to serve as a natural connection between the wetland and protected park Santa María del Lago and the neighborhood. It houses college student cohousing, specially from the Universidad Uniminuto which is located close by. It also houses conventional housing, a lab of native species investigation and commercial spaces.

The formal operation of the proyect is based on a grid of axis separated every 9 meters vertically and 6 meters horizontally. The division of this grid in spaces of 3 x 3 and 1.5 x 1.5 will define the interior spaces and circulations.
An initial 9 x 12 m module is created.

CHROMATIC MAP
An alternative to typical construction materials, a material whose decomposition can result in a process that helps to improve the natural environment, instead of harming it.

A visit to the old El Tunjuelo Mine, in the city of Bogotá, Colombia, now a waste construction and rubble recycling plant, made us reflect on our responsibility as architects to reduce the carbon footprint in our sector.
Through exploration with opacity, texture and color, the project looks to the implementation of bioplastics in architecture to generate different habitability conditions. Experimentation and study of lighting and chromatic qualities was made to develop an easily adaptable piece according to the use that is given to the space. The pieces are 20cmx20cm, and used 3 types of pigmentation, yellow, brown and purple wine. The biopolymer was manufactured by a pouring and drying method. The bioplastic was poured into molds, each with a specific pattern that experiments with a property of light. Produced through Grasshopper programming, 3D modeling in Rhino, and CNC cutting and assembling.
