Choice, not compromise

Choice, not compromise
At Sofas & Stuff, every sofa we create embodies our commitment to providing authentic choices, allowing you to perfectly express your distinct style. From fabric to cushion interiors, dimensions to design details - you can have exactly what you want, without compromise.
Just as your clothing reflects your personality, so your home, and your sofa, can speak volumes about who you are. We provide a canvas for your individuality, ensuring that your space is as distinctive as you are.
Choosing your sofa should be a truly personal experience. No more settling for less-than-perfect fabrics, or compromising on dimensions or cushion interiors. We are here to give you exactly what you want. With an unmatched range of fabric choices and customisation options, the possibilities are virtually endless.
Why do we offer such freedom? We’re passionate about creating spaces that bring genuine comfort and joy to you and your family. After all, isn’t there something truly special about feeling perfectly content and at ease within the walls of your home?
There is another reason too. In a world of fleeting trends and disposable goods, we stand firm in our dedication to creating products that you will want to keep for many years, with designs that are timeless and quality that will endure. Our sofas are built to last four or five times longer than cheaper alternatives.
While our sofas may be a little more expensive to purchase, we believe we offer unmatched value. Not simply pieces of furniture; their longevity means they can become lifelong companions. What price can you put on the memories woven into a beloved sofa, perhaps passed down through generations? Our commitment to the longevity of our products isn’t just about preserving the planet – it’s about preserving the moments, big and small, that matter most. Join us in redefining comfort, choice, and value – one sofa at a time.
Nature is a perennial source of design inspiration. Little can surpass the beauty of the natural world, both in form and colour palettes, and we delight in bringing elements of this bounty into living spaces through our fabric designs. This desire to bring the outside in has nurtured our collaboration with the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) and the exclusive fabric designs we have created from the archives of the RHS Lindley Collections.
Our latest RHS fabric collection, Botanicals, brings centuries-old fascination with botanical exploration into modern living spaces. Inspired by the artistic endeavours of intrepid naturalists and the golden age of botanical study, it celebrates humanity’s enduring fascination with plants in a fusion of history, artistry, and natural beauty. You’ll be able to explore this new collection in its entirety, both in showrooms and online, following its launch at RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2024.
Within Britain’s diverse architectural tapestry, our homes stand as expressions of individuality, each structure narrating a unique story through its design and style. From the grandeur of Gothic cathedrals to the refined elegance of Georgian townhouses, this rich heritage speaks of past events, artistic trends, and enduring craftsmanship.
Our timeless furniture harmonises with this variety, seamlessly integrating with diverse architectural styles. Whether it’s the enduring charm of an Edwardian townhouse or the contemporary appeal of a newly-built apartment, our sofas and chairs transcend fleeting trends, helping to craft personal sanctuaries that blend sublime comfort with individual style.
At the heart of Sofas & Stuff, you’ll find a world of beautiful fabrics that defines our identity. Stepping into our showrooms, you’ll immediately sense the exciting energy of colours, textures, and patterns that surround you. Delve deeper, and you’ll find an extensive collection of fabric books at your fingertips.
Our range of fabrics goes beyond the ordinary, featuring exclusive designs meticulously designed in-house. From the natural textures of our woven Cloth 22 linen and wool blends to the delicate blooms of our unique Floral Linens, and the exciting collaborative collections created with the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) and the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS).
Complementing these are collections from a plethora of British and international fabric houses, from world-renowned names like Colefax & Fowler, Linwood and Sanderson, to rising, independent design companies.
This abundance of choice, coupled with our design expertise, symbolises freedom. We celebrate individuality, nurture expressiveness, and prioritise choice, ensuring that you do not need to compromise when fashioning a sofa that authentically tells the story of your home.
Linen holds a special place in our fabric collection, embodying qualities of durability, authenticity, and sustainability that align perfectly with our commitment to quality craftsmanship and environmental responsibility.
Breathable, absorbent and durable, linen perfectly suits modern living, resisting dirt and stains better than many fibres, while its lovely texture matures gracefully over time. Beyond these immediate benefits, linen production is significantly more sustainable. Linen typically requires less land to cultivate compared to cotton, and a fraction of the water. Flax is sufficiently irrigated through natural rainfall, requires minimal pesticides and fertilizers, and generates very little waste.
Design inspiration from the V&A archives
Our collaboration with the V&A, the world’s leading museum of art, design and performance, stems from a shared love of fine art, textiles and interiors.
The next chapter of our collaboration is Threads of India, our third fabric collection drawn from the museum’s archives, and a tribute to India’s timeless textiles and their enduring global influence. Few destinations captivate the creative spirit quite like India. The collection tells a story of Mughal grandeur, poetic expression and the delicate fusion of Persian, Indian, and Central Asian artistic traditions.
Inspiration has been drawn from the magnificent array of Mughal art and objects housed in the V&A collection. From an opulent riding coat to resplendent tent hangings and exquisite dress fabrics once destined for Indonesian shores, each piece carries a wondrous tale of India’s artistic legacy. Our contemporary fabric designs pay homage to this artistry, and are presented on a tactile linen and viscose blend in a tapestry of colours to elevate your living space and uplift your spirit.
A meeting point of history and design, the Threads of India range captures the essence of the past in a contemporary setting. We invite you to discover the threads of history, innovation and artistic brilliance woven into every fabric.
Design is an adventure; a spirited exploration driven by curiosity. From the captivating beauty of the natural world to the narratives woven through history, literature and art, we look to create pieces that resonate not just as furniture but as expressions of the creative influences that shape our world.

We are more than a retailer of furniture; we are a retailer that manufactures. This is a key part of what makes us different and gives us complete control over the quality of what we produce. Your specific furniture order is known by your name to each craftsperson involved in its manufacture, and is created with care and the utmost attention to detail.
foundations
All of our sofas and chairs have a solid birch wood frame. The timber is sourced from European FSC-certified forests, kiln-dried to stop it warping, then glued, screwed and dowelled. This strong foundation means we can use serpentine springs, which, secured together to spread the weight load, bring durability and give a really comfy feel. Built to last from the inside out, we are proud to offer a lifetime construction guarantee on all our bespoke British pieces.
‘White glove’ delivery
Your furniture will be delivered to your home by our in-house delivery team, managed by our logistics department in Milton Keynes. Our Trustpilot reviews frequently sing the praises of our delivery drivers, whose careful and skilful handling is only surpassed by their friendly attitude.
Tread lightly
Sofas & Stuff is committed to producing furniture that ‘treads lightly’ within our environment and that includes a pledge to be part of a greener, more circular future.
A key starting point is our commitment to creating beautiful, timeless furniture that is built to last. We cannot, as a society, go on producing ever cheaper goods that get thrown away in landfill sites after just a few years’ use, having given very little joy in their short lives. We need to produce quality pieces that are loved, and that last. For us, that means products that last at least four or five times as long as cheaper alternatives, and backed by a lifetime frame guarantee.
Beyond this, at every touchpoint within our business we are addressing how we can reduce our impact on the planet. This is work in progress; we are learning as we go along, creating targets and developing ways to evaluate our forward steps.
Manufacturing in Britain in our own factory allows us to keep a close eye on quality and gives us more control over our production and our materials. We innovate where we can, conserving resources and making responsible choices. For instance, we heat our factory team, rather than the wider space around them, through targeted heating panels.
We are working to ensure all of our materials and components are made from sustainable resources. The hardwood rails of our sofa frames are FSC certified European birch. This is a fast-growing and self-seeding tree that can be harvested after 70 years. The forests are harvested in small plots which maintains a good age spread of trees, helping with the diversity of fauna.
We have our own logistics division for deliveries which helps us manage journeys in a more sustainable way. Being a UK-based manufacturer serving, predominantly, UK customers, means that the environmental impact of shipping and delivery is kept to a minimum.
A much-loved family sofa that stands the test of time is far more than just a piece of furniture – it’s a cherished companion, embedded into the fabric of family life. It becomes a central hub where memories are made, stories are shared, and bonds are strengthened.
Everyone’s life and experience of family is different; we understand and celebrate that fact. Indeed, it’s why we are so committed to offering such a wide choice. A sofa is a costly purchase, but it is also an investment in well-being. Making a considered choice to buy well will bring the reward of a beautiful, timeless sofa, that will bring joy for many years to come.
From our home to yours
Sofas & Stuff is a family-owned furniture and fabric company. Three generations of the Cussins family have taken this path: experience, expertise and enthusiasm passing from father to sons, not once, but twice over the last 70 years. We are constantly thinking about what we can do better, as we strive to make as perfect a piece of furniture as we possibly can; fulfilling promises one sofa at a time.
Comfort, in our world, is a multi-sensory experience that begins with the visual appeal of individually chosen design details and textiles.
Our offering of comfort extends beyond daytime and into slumber with beautifully upholstered bespoke beds and sofa beds, created to your specification, in the fabric of your choice and completed with our quality, hand-tufted and hand-stitched pocket sprung mattresses.
Our doors are open
We understand that so much choice might feel intimidating. However, when offered in conjunction with the expertise and understanding of our design consultants, our customers find it both liberating and comforting. You can rest assured that your individual needs and preferences will be at the very heart of our creative solutions.
The look, the feel and the sitting experience - all of these matter when buying furniture designed to last a lifetime. The texture of a fabric, the squish of a cushion, the precision of the pleats across the curve of a sofa arm. Our showrooms are spaces to explore all of these things, and more, in person and at your own pace. Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee while you browse. Bring the family, even the dog. We look forward to meeting you.
