Performance data Weaning Weight (WW)
Calving Ease
All weights are taken at weaning and adjusted to 205 days to allow you to compare the bulls on an even playing field.
Calving ease is one of the biggest concerns to most bull buyers and most often related to the birth weight of a bull. However, there are many other factors that are influences like nutrition and gestation. Our ratings are based on all of the information we have available.
Yearling Weight (YW) All weights are taken at the end of test and adjusted to 365 days, again to let you easily compare the bulls.
Weight per Day of Age (W.P.D.A.)
All weights at the end of test are used to calculate the bull’s weight per day of age. It covers the entire gaining period to date (on the cow and on the feed).
Average Daily Gain (A.D.G)
After a 30 day warm-up period, bulls are put on test to measure their A.D.G. for the next 120 days.

Should produce minimal calving problems when bred to moderate sized, first calf heifers. Recommended for use on second calvers or small framed cows – 1100 to 1300 lbs. Recommended for mature cows - 1400+ lbs.
Horned-Scurred-Polled
Horned. Horn growth affixed to the skull that has or has not been removed.
1. These bulls have been eliminated from the program. They are not easily handled.
Polled. Rudimentary horn growth that will not develop into a horn. Scurs are the result of an independent gene unrelated to either the horned or polled gene.
3. Most of the bulls fit into this score. 3’s are very easy to handle but will move off pressure with ease.
Scurred. Absence of horn growth. (An animal can have scurs and still be genetically polled.)
Disposition Scoring System
2. Harder to handle with a wide flight zone. These bulls will get worked up very easily when alone or under pressure.
4. These bulls are extremely quiet and will take a lot of pressure.

Soderglen’s Warranty Program offers a cut rate warranty in a language you can understand. Soderglen will warranty your bull and carry all risk. In our opinion, using only Mortality Insurance is money out the window with little or no value because 96% of bull problems are injury, not death.
◊ Notify Soderglen immediately by phone, fax or email. ◊ Employ a licensed veterinarian to treat, diagnose and fill out claim form. ◊ If the animal dies, a postmortem may be required. ◊ When necessary, deliver the bull back to Soderglen.
We have the ability to make cash settlement or service your needs with another bull, whichever you choose. Should you have any problem with a bull, contact Jared at (403) 333-0499 and we will handle the problem immediately. Your veterinarian and yourself will fill out a claim form provided by Soderglen and that is all that is needed to take care of your claim.
Exclusions to Policy
It’s unfortunate but sometimes bulls will become injured prior to or during their first breeding season and often these injuries are life threatening. In an effort to better serve our customers we are offering an optional warranty on all bulls sold through this sale. This warranty will cover loss of use from injuries as well as death.
Injury or death due to malicious, willful or intentional acts or mistreatment by you or your employees are fraudulent claims. Starting Feb 9, 2019 all guarantees and or warranty will be revoked on bulls that are not paid for within 30 days of the invoice date, unless previous arrangements have been made with Soderglen Ranches Ltd.
Extended Breeding Season Warranty DURATION: 8 Months RATE: 10% The Extended Breeding Season Warranty covers the bull through his first breeding season. It starts on sale day and will last for eight months until October 8th, 2020. The cost of this extended warranty is 10% of the bulls purchase price. The coverage is completely optional and you can take it or leave it.

Herdbull guarantee Conditions ◊ Bull has passed a semen evaluation by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale.
◊ Bull is structurally sound and capable of breeding cows naturally. ◊ Bull can be handled using proper animal handling techniques (no pick-ups, neighbors’ dogs or cousins from the city).
◊ Fleshing ability - within 9 months after breeding season your bull should have recovered the weight loss and be in a reasonable, healthy condition with a good quality forage diet. Soderglen is not responsible for anything up and above the price of the bull.
If the conditions of the Guarantee are not achieved we will do one of four things: 1. Replace the bull with one of equal value (most practical during or before breeding season) 2. Replace the bull and adjust the value agreed upon (most practical during or before breeding season) 3. Take back or ship the bull and a credit will be given to you for the selection of another bull the following year (most practical after breeding season) 4. Take back or ship the bull and a credit will be given to you for the selection of another bull the following year (most practical after breeding season):

Development & delivery We Will Develop and Deliver Your Bull At the settlement desk please leave delivery instructions for your location. Customers will be informed as to the delivery points, you are expected to meet the truck on arrival unless prior arrangements have been made. We are offering free delivery points to Alberta and Saskatchewan. We will keep all the bulls after the sale and feed them at high roughage ration at no cost, until May 1st. After that, you will be charged a cost of $150 per month.
Your Soderglen bull is a major investment. We know it is important to our customers that these bulls are developed through proper management.
If you leave your bull at Soderglen please ensure that your bull(s) are covered by our Warranty Program or insurance of your own. British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario & Quebec will be at cost to the purchaser of commercial rate at time of delivery. Pick up your bull sale day or before May 1st and receive $100 off each bull.

“Our cattle herd developed over the years in the foothills of SW Alberta with a Hereford Simmental cross. Angus was then introduced to gain more of the trait’s calf buyers desired. It worked very well but found we were always juggling breeds to meet our goals. I have never subscribed to the bull of the month club, so in 2007 we purchased our first Soderglen bull and have not looked back since. Our focus has always been on the maternal end as we keep our own females to build our herd and to pass onto customers as bred heifers. Correct feet and legs, a good hair coat and a disposition that doesn’t leave you looking over your shoulder in calving season is a necessity. Steer calves pay the bills every fall so a high weaning weight is essential. Over the past 13 years we have purchased 75% of our bull’s sight unseen and Soderglen makes it hassle free. “At both our ranches longevity in the cattle is key. In our Alberta cow herds, it’s native fescue grass 365 days a year, no supplemental forage. Soderglen Angus genetics have helped us achieve this style of cow that can be managed this way successfully for over 15 years now. At our BC operation, Soderglen Angus bulls are helping us create a foundation for cow herd expansion and extending the grazing season. Like a lot of people who support our Program, we go back a long way with this family. Over 25 years and 140 bulls later, Dwight and Brenda are still buying bulls. Soderglen has purchased open heifer calves from Dwight and Brenda for many years. You will see their Program in our commercial Bred Heifer sale in December topping the Black bred heifer section year after year. They have one of the best commercial Angus based cow herds in Western Canada.
