PERFORMANCE DATA Weaning Weight (WW) All weights are taken at weaning and adjusted to 205 days to allow you to compare the bulls on an even playing field.
Yearling Weight (YW) All weights are taken at the end of test and adjusted to 365 days, again to let you easily compare the bulls.
Weight per Day of Age (W.P.D.A.) All weights at the end of test are used to calculate the bull’s weight per day of age. It covers the entire gaining period to date (on the cow and on the feed).
Average Daily Gain (A.D.G) After a 30 day warm-up period, bulls are put on test to measure their A.D.G. for the next 120 days.
Yearling Scrotal The bulls will be extended, palpated and semen tested March 30, 2020. All bulls meet industry standards based on breed and average.
Disposition Scoring System 1. These bulls have been eliminated from the program. They are not easily handled. 2. Harder to handle with a wide flight zone. These bulls will get worked up very easily when alone or under pressure. 3. Most of the bulls fit into this score. 3’s are very easy to handle but will move off pressure with ease.
Calving Ease
Calving ease is one of the biggest concerns to most bull buyers and most often related to the birth weight of a bull. However, there are many other factors that are influences like nutrition and gestation. Our ratings are based on all of the information we have available. EEE

Should produce minimal calving problems when bred to moderate sized, first calf heifers. Recommended for use on second calvers or small framed cows – 1100 to 1300 lbs.
Recommended for mature cows - 1400+ lbs.
Horned-Scurred-Polled
Horned. Horn growth affixed to the skull that has or has not been removed. Polled. Rudimentary horn growth that will not develop into a horn. Scurs are the result of an independent gene unrelated to either the horned or polled gene. Scurred. Absence of horn growth. (An animal can have scurs and still be genetically polled.)

BREEDING SEASON Warranty Program
Soderglen’s Warranty Program offers a cut rate warranty in a language you can understand. Soderglen will warranty your bull and carry all risk. In our opinion, using only Mortality Insurance is money out the window with little or no value because 96% of bull problems are injury, not death. We have the ability to make cash settlement or service your needs with another bull, whichever you choose. Should you have any problem with a bull, contact Jared at (403) 333-0499 and we will handle the problem immediately. Your veterinarian and yourself will fill out a claim form provided by Soderglen and that is all that is needed to take care of your claim. It’s unfortunate but sometimes bulls will become injured prior to or during their first breeding season and often these injuries are life threatening. In an effort to better serve our customers we are offering an optional warranty on all bulls sold through this sale. This warranty will cover loss of use from injuries as well as death.
Extended Breeding Season Warranty Duration: 8 Months Rate: 10% The Extended Breeding Season Warranty covers the bull through his first breeding season. It starts on sale day and will last for eight months until October 8th, 2020. The cost of this extended warranty is 10% of the bulls purchase price. The coverage is completely optional and you can take it or leave it.

Warranty Responsibility ◊ Notify Soderglen immediately by phone, fax or email. ◊ Employ a licensed veterinarian to treat, diagnose and fill out claim form. ◊ If the animal dies, a postmortem may be required. ◊ When necessary, deliver the bull back to Soderglen.
Exclusions to Policy Injury or death due to malicious, willful or intentional acts or mistreatment by you or your employees are fraudulent claims. Starting Feb 9, 2019 all guarantees and or warranty will be revoked on bulls that are not paid for within 30 days of the invoice date, unless previous arrangements have been made with Soderglen Ranches Ltd.
HERDBULl guarantee
Conditions ◊ Bull has passed a semen evaluation by a licensed veterinarian prior to the sale. ◊ Bull is structurally sound and capable of breeding cows naturally. ◊ Bull can be handled using proper animal handling techniques (no pickups, neighbors’ dogs or cousins from the city). ◊ Fleshing ability - within 9 months after breeding season your bull should have recovered the weight loss and be in a reasonable, healthy condition with a good quality forage diet. Soderglen is not responsible for anything up and above the price of the bull.
If the conditions of the Guarantee are not achieved we will do one of four things: 1. Replace the bull with one of equal value (most practical during or before breeding season) 2. Replace the bull and adjust the value agreed upon (most practical during or before breeding season) 3. Take back or ship the bull and a credit will be given to you for the selection of another bull the following year (most practical after breeding season)

DEVELOPment f DELIVERy We Will Develop & Deliver Your Bull At the settlement desk please leave delivery instructions for your location. Customers will be informed as to the delivery points, you are expected to meet the truck on arrival unless prior arrangements have been made. We are offering free delivery points to Alberta and Saskatchewan.
Your Soderglen bull is a major investment. We know it is important to our customers that these bulls are developed through proper management.
We will keep all the bulls after the sale and feed them at high roughage ration at no cost, until May 1st. After that, you will be charged a cost of $150 per month. If you leave your bull at Soderglen please ensure that your bull(s) are covered by our Warranty Program or insurance of your own. British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario & Quebec will be at cost to the purchaser of commercial rate at time of delivery.

Soderglen Black Simmental Genetics are a powerful asset in our terminal and maternal breeding program.
- Springvale Colony Rockyford, AB
Springvale Colony was established in 1918. They came by train from South Dakota with what they could carry and ended up in Rockyford, AB. Five generations of this colony have formed and raised families. Springvale has expanded and split twice, once to Saskatchewan and once to Arrowwood, South of Strathmore.
Why Choose Simmental
At Soderglen we breed Simmental cattle because of their ability to infuse exceptional traits into our cowherds. Soderglen Simmental cattle have been genetically selected for easier calving, high growth and high yielding carcasses.
We have been friends and done business with Springvale since selling them their first bull in 1992, in which the bull did not work out as I recall. Since then, however, Springvale has purchased loads of bulls and we have watched the changes in the cowherd from Simm x Simm Hereford to a Simm x Angus cowbase, using Charolais terminal sires. I have roped and branded calves the third week of April at Springvale Colony for the last 25 years. - Scott Lees

The top cut selected for 1,200 females will sell this spring. We have 400 Blacks and
Black Baldies and 200 Red and Red Baldies for sale.
These heifers were bought from some of the top herds in Western Canada as heifer calves and we have developed them at Soderglen. You will not find a better combination of genetics for commercial cows excelling in fertility, calving ease and convenience traits than these heifers.

This is a quality-controlled sale. All cattle must meet strict requirements to be eligible and we require that the heifers be a minimum of 800 lbs. All heifers will be palpated and weighed. The heifers are pre-sorted according to breed, weight and color and are on the Express Vaccination Program. We will help organize the loads; however, the cost of delivery of the heifers is the buyer’s responsibility.
