“My name is Sherry Crowe, and I’m the Founder of OncoConnect, an oncology consulting agency dedicated to helping healthcare organizations, biotech companies, and oncology leaders connect the right people, data, and strategies to reach patients faster and more effectively. With more than 30 years working alongside leading oncologists and healthcare innovators, my career requires sustained focus, constant travel, and a high level of cognitive performance. As I have aged, I became very intentional about prioritizing my health. Longevity in a driven career does not come from pushing harder. It comes from recovering smarter. My professional background has given me a deep appreciation for the importance of cellular health, which is what initially drew me to PEMF therapy and PEMF Recovery Plus.”
What stands out most is that PEMF
works at the cellular level while allowing me to fully relax. Unlike treatments that require active effort, PEMF supports recovery passively yet effectively. It aligns perfectly with my understanding of modern healthcare advancements and feels like a smart, science-based investment in long term health.
WELLNESS IS PART OF PERFORMANCE
“I’ve always lived an active lifestyle. My husband and I weight train regularly, stay involved in sports, and travel internationally several times a year. Over time, recovery became more challenging. Muscle soreness lasted longer, sleep quality was inconsistent, and mental clarity required more effort to maintain. I was not looking for a quick fix. I wanted a science based approach that supported my body at a deeper level. When PEMF therapy became available at PEMF Recovery Plus, I immediately saw it as an opportunity to support my health proactively. We often schedule our sessions together, which has become meaningful downtime to relax, reset and recover.”
RECOVERING AT A CELLULAR LEVEL
“During heavier training or high stress periods, PEMF therapy became a consistent part of my routine. Each session is deeply calming and restorative. I am able to fully relax while knowing that meaningful work is happening beneath the surface. It supports energy, stress regulation, sleep, and recovery in a way that feels both effective and sustainable. After a skiing injury to my leg, I increased my PEMF sessions and noticed clear improvements after each visit. Pain decreased, stiffness reduced, and recovery progressed faster than I expected. PEMF also made a noticeable difference in muscle soreness from weight lifting, allowing me to stay consistent without extended downtime.”
THE MOMENT IT CLICKED
“The real turning point for me was realizing how consistently well I was sleeping and how clear and focused I felt during demanding workdays. Beyond physical recovery, PEMF therapy positively impacted my mood, mental clarity and focus. I even noticed improvements in memory and cognitive sharpness, which is invaluable in my line of work. Those moments made it very clear that PEMF therapy was not just addressing isolated issues. It was supporting my overall wellness and resilience in a meaningful way.”
A CORNERSTONE OF MY WELLNESS ROUTINE
“Today, PEMF Recovery Plus is a cornerstone of my wellness strategy. I do not see wellness as separate from work or life. It has to be prioritized and scheduled just like everything else. PEMF therapy supports my physical recovery, cognitive performance and long term health in a way that aligns perfectly with my lifestyle. I have shared PEMF with friends and seen the impact firsthand, including one close friend who experienced significant improvement in knee pain and returned to enjoying golf without a brace. PEMF is not a luxury or a trend. It is a powerful tool that helps people recover smarter and live better. I am incredibly grateful that it is available in our community.”

THE POWER OF LOVE
“Love shows up in how we live, how we serve and how we care for one another.”
Love is often thought of as something personal—shared quietly between partners, within families or among close friends. But when you look closely, love shows up everywhere. It lives in the choices we make for our health, the way we care for our neighbors and the causes we champion simply because doing good feels like the right thing to do.
This issue of Society Life is our ’Love Issue’ and it celebrates love in its many forms. February’s focus on heart health as the official Heart Health Awareness month reminds us that love begins with caring for ourselves. Prioritizing wellness—whether through prevention, education or healthier daily habits—is one of the most meaningful acts of love we can give our families and those who count on us. When we take care of our hearts and our health, we are better able to show up for the people and the life we love. See how your habits stack up with the Healthy Heart Checklist (p. 23-24).

Love also extends far beyond our own homes. Across Northeast Tarrant County, we see it in action through philanthropy, charitable service and community leadership. From nonprofit volunteers to donors and advocates, these everyday heroes lead with compassion, faith and a desire to serve the greater good. Their work is a reminder that love, when multiplied through action, has the power to strengthen entire communities. We recognize the powerful impact women create when they come together through local philanthropic clubs and organizations, uniting as a collective force for good in our community (page 30). You’ll also find a thoughtful book review, a delicious dining feature, an inspiring faith column and a roundup of community events throughout the issue. One such event to mark on your calendar is the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community Open House. Join the community this March as the public tours of five fabulous homes begins in Southlake benefiting St. Jude’s lifesaving mission (page 44).
This issue also honors the simple joys that connect us—our love of family traditions, shared meals, good books, meaningful conversations and the local places that bring people together. Food nourishes more than our bodies; it gathers us. Books open hearts and minds. Faith grounds us. Community sustains us—often through local businesses that serve as gathering places and anchors of connection. We celebrate the local businesses that serve as the heartbeat of our community— owned by neighbors, rooted in service and driven by a genuine love for the communities they serve.
As you turn these pages, my hope is that you feel inspired to recognize love not just as a feeling, but as a way of living—intentionally, generously and with purpose. When we lead with love, we create healthier hearts, stronger communities and a greater good that lasts.

A Testimonial from Kristi Kaker
Because Quality & Experience Matter with
Gist & Hayes Dentistry
“My name is Kristi Kaker, and several things come to mind when I speak of Gist & Hayes Restorative / Cosmetic Dentistry—but above all, I think of excellence, artistry and care that is truly on another level. This dental practice offers all of their patients a completely different level of care. There is a calm and quiet confidence about the practice—from the serene environment to the warm, welcoming team that made me feel completely at ease. I didn’t feel rushed or overwhelmed. I felt listened to. I felt valued. I felt like I was in the right place.
WHY I KNEW I WAS IN THE RIGHT PLACE
When I met the doctors, I quickly realized why so many people speak so highly of their work. They have such an eye when it comes to teeth! Their ability to create a smile design to fit every different face is unlike any other practice in the business. This experience was not about creating a generic, cookie-cutter smile—it was about designing my smile—one that suited only my face both naturally and beautifully. At the time, I had several concerns. My upper anterior teeth were uneven, my smile felt narrow, and the materials used in previous dental work were outdated and failing. Their team approached everything with incredible precision and care. My upper, uneven anterior teeth were contoured and bleached. And then, my posterior teeth were restored to upgrade the old materials. Every step of the process was explained clearly, and I always felt confident in the plan and the hands guiding it. What truly amazed me was the level of care and intention behind every single part of the transformation. In the process, my narrow smile was widened by filling out the corners with the new restorations. It wasn’t just about improving individual teeth—it was improving my overall dental health, the visual balance, and creating a smile that felt and looked natural. –————
“What a drastic change it made! I remember looking in the mirror and feeling genuinely surprised — not just by how my smile looked, but by how it made me feel. Confident. Comfortable. Like myself again. And the most remarkable part? This was over 13 years ago and I still love to give that big Texas smile!”
BUILT TO LAST, DESIGNED WITH PURPOSE
That kind of longevity says everything. The work didn’t just look good in the moment—it was built to last. Nearly a decade-anda-half later, my smile still brings me joy every single day. Gist & Hayes Restorative / Cosmetic Dentistry creates smiles designed to last a lifetime—while helping patients keep their natural teeth for that lifetime, too.
A
SUPERIOR LEVEL OF CARE
Beyond the clinical excellence, what truly sets this practice apart is the heart behind it. This is relationship-driven care at its best. Patients are known by name, not by insurance numbers. Every team member—from the front desk to the treatment room— brings warmth, professionalism and genuine kindness to the experience. Dentistry here is not transactional—it is personal. Looking back, I am incredibly grateful—not just for the results, but for the experience itself. Thank you, Drs. Gist & Hayes, and staff. Y’all are absolutely the best! My smile is living proof of what’s possible when world-class dentistry is paired with artistry, integrity and truly personal care. Years later, I’m still smiling—big!”

ROOTED IN FAITH
God is love
LEADING WITH LOVE & HEART
Love is one of the most familiar words we know and yet one of the most difficult to fully live out. We use it casually, reserve it cautiously, and sometimes withhold it when it feels risky or undeserved. We love with expectations, conditions and limits. Scripture invites us into a deeper understanding of love — one that begins not with an emotion or circumstance, but with the heart shaped by faith.
The Bible speaks often of the heart because it understands something we experience every day—everything meaningful in our lives flows from it. Our thoughts, emotions, words, reactions and relationships are all shaped by what lives inside of our hearts. That is why Scripture gives such a clear directive: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (Proverbs 4:23). The heart is not just a metaphor—it is the starting place of faith, love and action. When love flows freely from the heart, it is rarely because life is easy or people are flawless. Instead, it is because faith has taken root deep within. Biblical love does not depend on certain circumstances or moods. It is not withdrawn when disappointed or withheld when inconvenient. This kind of love is not situational— it is transformational. It changes us from the inside out and reshapes how we respond to the world around us.
At the core of the Christian faith is a simple yet radical truth: God is love. Scripture does not describe love as one of God’s many attributes—it defines Him by it. “Whoever does not love does not know God, because
God is love” (1 John 4:8). This verse tells us something essential not only about God, but about ourselves. Love is not something we generate through effort, discipline or willpower. It is something we receive first. Faith opens our hearts to God’s love, and that love begins to reshape how we live, forgive and connect with others. Because God is love, love itself is not defined by human behavior or emotional highs and lows. It’s not fragile or fleeting. It is steady, faithful and enduring because it reflects God’s own character. Faith allows us to trust in that constancy—even when circumstances are uncertain, relationships are strained, or our own hearts feel weary. God’s love does not waver based on our performance—it remains anchored in who He is.
This divine love is not earned. It is freely given. “We love because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Before we could believe correctly, behave well or get our lives together, God loved us fully. That truth matters deeply, because so many people attempt to love from empty places—seeking validation, approval or security in return. When love
becomes transactional, it quickly runs dry. Faith shifts the starting point. When love begins with God, it flows outward without needing constant replenishment from others. Jesus emphasized the heart when He was asked to name the greatest commandment. His response was simple and demanding: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… and love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37–39).
Loving God with our whole heart is not a one-time decision—it is a daily posture of surrender and trust. When we allow God’s love to take residence in our hearts, it changes how we see ourselves and how we treat others. Love becomes less about what we receive and more about what we reflect.
In a world that often leads with fear, division and self-protection, choosing to lead with love becomes a quiet act of faith. Guarded by God and guided by His truth, our hearts can become living testimonies—places where faith is made visible, grace is freely given and love is not just spoken, but lived.

In Even After This, author Deborah Clack delivers a tender, uplifting contemporary romance that explores grief, healing and the quiet bravery it takes to begin again. Thoughtful and emotionally grounded, the novel offers a refreshing take on the celebrity-meets-everyday-life trope while remaining firmly rooted in authenticity and heart.
The story centers on Meredith Harper, a Texas widow four years removed from devastating loss. Meredith is not running from her grief so much as cautiously sidestepping it, having learned how to exist safely within the boundaries of routine and solitude. When she decides to invest in a Colorado Springs vacation property, she hopes for distance, distraction and perhaps a hint of reinvention. What she does not expect is a chance encounter with Harlan Holcombe, a famous actor whose face she recognizes instantly— and whose humanity she discovers far more slowly.
Harlan, who is newly vaulted back into the spotlight after a viral rescue cements his image as a real-life hero, is far more complex than his public persona may suggest. Clack skillfully balances both the allure of fame with the weight of past mistakes, allowing Harlan’s vulnerability to emerge organically. His growing relationship with Meredith is less about grand gestures and more about some small, but meaningful moments—think
shared conversations, gentle humor and the unspoken understanding between two people that are carrying the weight of different kinds of loss.
Clack’s writing shines in its emotional restraint. Rather than relying on melodrama, she lets grief surface in realistic, often quiet ways. Meredith’s journey feels especially authentic, marked by hesitation, self-doubt and the gradual realization that loving again does not diminish what came before. The romance unfolds at a believable pace, making the connection between Meredith and Harlan feel earned rather than rushed.
One of the novel’s strengths is its tone. Even After This blends poignancy with light humor, offering moments of levity that never undercut the story’s emotional weight. Readers looking for a clean and wholesome romance will appreciate Clack’s focus on emotional intimacy over explicit content, proving that swoonworthy storytelling doesn’t require spice to be satisfying.
Ultimately, Even After This is a story about second chances—at love, at selfforgiveness and at hope. It will resonate with readers who appreciate heartfelt romance grounded in real emotional stakes. Even After This sets a promising tone, inviting readers to believe that even after profound loss, new beginnings are not only possible, but worth the risk.
When you’re ready to live again, love often has a way of finding you.

Health SL
February is Heart Health Awareness Month, a time to focus on the organ that works hardest to keep the body moving. Heart disease remains the leading cause of death for both men and women in the United States, yet many cases are preventable through early detection, lifestyle changes and regular medical care. While heart disease affects everyone, it does not affect everyone the same way. Risk factors, symptoms and warning signs can differ between men and women, making education essential. The good news is that small, consistent habits can significantly improve cardiovascular health at any age.
A MATTER OF THE HEART
WHY HEART HEALTH MATTERS
The heart beats more than 100,000 times each day, tirelessly delivering oxygen and vital nutrients to every part of the body. Yet when heart health is compromised, the warning signs often develop slowly and can be easily overlooked or mistaken for everyday stress, fatigue, or the natural effects of aging. By the time symptoms become noticeable, underlying issues may already be well established. Prioritizing prevention through healthy habits such as regular physical activity, balanced nutrition, and mindful lifestyle choices plays a critical role in protecting long-term health, preserving independence, and maintaining a high quality of life at every stage.
STAY ACTIVE FOR A HEALTHIER HEART
Staying active is one of the most powerful ways to protect your heart, boost your energy, and improve overall well-being, but how much physical activity is enough?
According to the American Heart Association, even small, consistent movements throughout the week can make a meaningful difference. These guidelines outline how often to move, when to increase intensity, and why building strength matters, helping adults of all fitness levels take simple, achievable steps toward a healthier heart and a stronger body.
FIT IN 150+
Get at least 150 minutes weekly of moderate intensity aerobic activity or 75 minutes per week of vigorous aerobic activity (or a combination of both), preferably spread throughout the week.
MOVE MORE, SIT LESS
Get up and move throughout the day. Any activity is better than none. Even some light intensity activity can offset the serious health risks of being sedentary.
ADD INTENSITY
Moderate to vigorous aerobic exercise is best. Your heart will beat faster, and you’ll breathe harder than normal. As you get used to being more active, increase your time and/or intensity to get more benefits.
ADD MUSCLE
Include moderate to high intensity muscle strengthening activity, such as resistance or weight training, at least twice a week.
FEEL BETTER
Physical activity is one of the best ways to keep your body and brain healthy. It relieves stress, improves mood, gives you energy, helps with sleep and can lower your risk of chronic disease, including dementia and depression.
After a long day spent juggling work, family, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to collapse onto the couch and call it a day! But even small choices like taking an evening walk, parking farther away, or adding a bit more intensity to a workout can make a powerful difference.
Moving more and sitting less is one of the most effective ways to protect both heart and brain health. Regular physical activity helps relieve stress, lift your mood, boost energy, and improve your sleep, while also lowering the risk of chronic conditions such as dementia and depression. Over time, these everyday movement build strength, sharpen mental well-being, and support lasting health.
Although heart-healthy habits benefit everyone, men and women will often experience different risk factors, symptoms, and warning signs. Understanding those differences allows each person to take a more proactive and more personalized approach to prevention. The following checklists for men and for women are designed to help you recognize potential risks early, make informed lifestyle choices, and start meaningful conversations with your healthcare providers.
(find your checklist on the next page)
Health SL
WELLNESS & PREVENTION
Supporting heart health does not require dramatic changes. Simple, everyday habits—such as eating a balanced, nutrient-rich diet, staying physically active, avoiding tobacco products, limiting alcohol consumption, getting seven to eight hours of sleep each night and managing stress through connection, relaxation and movement—can make a meaningful difference over time. These consistent choices help lower blood pressure, improve cholesterol levels and reduce inflammation, all of which play a key role in long-term cardiovascular health. Understanding personal risk factors and recognizing early warning signs can lead to earlier intervention and better outcomes. Reviewing the checklists here for men and women to stay informed, know your risks and recognize any symptoms that should prompt a conversation with your physician.

“I tried the SWC of TX recommended therapy with amazing results. I am almost 60 years old, but I perform like a teen again... it really works!”
“I’m so greatful to have found SWC! The REGENmax program has worked fantastic. The results have been wonderful and I’m feeling like my once younger self again! I even signed up for the annual maintenance package to ensure results last well into the future. I highly recommend this program and this practice!”

LOVE IS MORE THAN CHEMISTRY. It’s connection. Confidence. Vulnerability. And the quiet assurance that you still recognize yourself in the mirror — and in the arms of the person you love.
Yet for millions of men and women, intimacy fades not from lack of desire, but from physical and hormonal changes no one prepared them for. Performance anxiety. Loss of sensation. Fatigue. Hormonal imbalance. The unspoken fear that romance has an expiration date.
At Sexual Wellness Centers, that belief is being dismantled — patient by patient, couple by couple — through regenerative medicine, patented protocols and an unapologetically hopeful message: Intimacy can be restored, confidence renewed and love rekindled at any stage of life.
“Amazing staff made me feel so comfortable... very knowledgeable about life changing issues that should not be taboo! Thank you SWC!”
“I
At the center of that mission is Dr. Jeff Nuziard, whose own personal journey sparked a medical breakthrough now changing lives for men and women across North Texas and beyond.
am eternally grateful to SWC and their REGENmax protocol for transforming my life. They have given me back my confidence, reignited the passion in my relationships, and allowed me to enjoy a fulfilling and satisfying intimate life once again. I wholeheartedly recommend REGENmax to anyone seeking a comprehensive and effective approach to sexual wellness.”
A Personal Crisis That Became a Medical Cure Dr. Jeff Nuziard didn’t set out to revolutionize sexual medicine. He set out to fix himself. At age 40, otherwise healthy and active, he woke up unable to perform sexually. What followed was not just physical frustration, but emotional collapse—feelings many men silently endure: shame, loss of identity and fear of disappointing a partner. Rather than accepting pills, injections or surgery as permanent solutions, he began a relentless search for something different— something curative.
That pursuit led to years of scientific research, collaboration with MDs and PhDs, and then ultimately the creation of the REGENmax® Protocol, now protected by a global trademark and U.S. patent (No. 11,806,301). Today, it stands as the world’s first patented treatment proven to reverse erectile dysfunction(ED), not merely manage it. A formal clinical study of more than 250 patients showed a 97.2% success rate at one-year follow-up—far surpassing pills, injections and even the most recent FDAapproved alternatives.

RECONNECTING COUPLES:
When Intimacy Returns, So Does Love
Sexual dysfunction rarely affects just one person. It seeps into marriages, confidence levels and communication. Couples stop touching, romance feels distant and conversations shift. At Sexual Wellness Centers, treatment is never framed as vanity—it’s framed as relationship preservation. “When intimacy returns, couples reconnect,” Nuziard admits. “They laugh more. Feel closer. Communicate better.” That philosophy drives every consultation—to restore physical function, but also the emotional connection, trust and joy.
PERSONALIZED CARE & PATENTED CURE FOR ALL
Personalized care is at the heart of every SWC experience. Recognizing that no two bodies, relationships or wellness journeys are the same, every treatment plan begins with a blood analysis and comprehensive exam. Using the most advanced technologies, the team offers innovative solutions including the exclusive REGENmax protocol to restore performance, revive vitality and support whole-body wellness. Every single treatment is thoughtfully selected to help patients look and feel their best while improving function.
For men, sexual health is often intertwined with identity. When performance falters, confidence follows. SWC’s approach addresses the root causes, not symptoms. The cornerstone of male treatment, REGENmax uses their multi-modal
regenerative approach using laser technology, sound-wave therapy and tissue regenerative fluid to restore blood flow, nerve response and tissue health—without pills, surgery or any downtime. Unlike other temporary solutions, REGENmax therapy stimulates the body’s natural regenerative capacity, delivering permanent improvement for most patients. The result is not just improved performance—but restored confidence.
Just as important to their patented protocols is SWC’s sexual wellness for women. Women’s sexual health has long been overlooked or just dismissed as “normal aging.” SWC rejects that narrative. Whether changes stem from childbirth, menopause, hormonal shifts or stress, women deserve solutions to restore sensation, confidence and control. SWC is helping women rediscover pleasure, power and self-assurance. Designed specifically for female anatomy, REGENmax for Women improves sensitivity, lubrication, tightness and overall vaginal health—without surgery or medication. SWC empowers women to feel confident and fully at-home in their bodies again.

Ladies Leading with LOVE
In a world that often feels fast-paced and divided, some of the most meaningful change begins around tables, inside meeting rooms and through hands extended in service. Across our community, women are leading not for recognition, but for impact—guided by compassion, connection and a deep commitment to giving back. Many arrive at these groups during pivotal seasons of life: after a move to a new city, once kids are grown, following retirement, or simply during a moment when deeper friendship and belonging are needed. These nonprofit women’s groups and clubs are united by a shared purpose and a powerful belief: when leadership is rooted in love, generosity grows, communities strengthen and lasting good follows.
100 Women Who Care - NETC
A GIVING CIRCLE TO GATHER, GIVE AND MAKE A DIFFERENCE—TOGETHER
Launched in January 2026, 100 Women Who Care – Northeast Tarrant County is a new charitable giving circle designed to make local philanthropy both powerful and practical. Serving Southlake, Grapevine, Colleyville, Keller, Westlake, Trophy Club, North Richland Hills and Hurst-Euless-Bedford, the group is built on a simple model of collective giving—members meet for one hour each quarter and each pledge $100, pooling their contributions to create a significant donation for a local nonprofit. At each meeting three nonprofits are nominated by the members and the group votes to determine a single recipient. Individually, the commitment is modest; collectively, it typically results in a $10,000-plus gift that can meaningfully move the needle for organizations serving Northeast Tarrant County. “Collective giving is a powerful force,” said local founder Jennifer Worrel. “Every woman I know wants to make a real difference in her community and the ‘100 Women’ model amplifies individual generosity into maximum results while acknowledging the unique needs in our area and the hectic pace of our lives.” The group’s inaugural meeting was set for January 26, but took place February 2nd due to inclement weather at The Elmore Hotel. The 100 Women Who Care concept began more than 20 years ago and has since expanded to hundreds of chapters nationwide. While 100 members is the goal, participation is not capped, and all interested women are welcome. The message is clear—no galas, bake sales or fundraisers—just women, collective generosity and measurable impact.

Some acts of generosity are quiet. Others are bold. And then there are the rare ones you can walk through—room by room, window by window—where craftsmanship, compassion and community intersect in a way that feels both tangible and transformative. That’s the heart of the St. Jude Dream Home® Showplace Community that’s redefining what it means to build with purpose. Within Southlake’s Carillon Parc neighborhood, this collection of five luxury homes is more than a showcase of architectural excellence. It is a shared promise by builders, sponsors, trade partners and an entire community to help save lives. Slated to open for public tours and purchase in March 2026, Southlake’s St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community is an extension of the beloved St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway—one of the largest awareness and fundraising programs supporting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Five respected custom builders—Atwood Custom Homes, Beckett Graham Luxury Home Builders, Heritage Custom Homes, Kensington Custom Homes, and WillowTree Custom Homes—have united around an extraordinary goal to collectively raise $1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, with each home contributing $200,000 in support of St. Jude’s lifesaving mission.

The St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community in Southlake’s Carillon Parc promises luxury living, superior craftsmanship and meaningful impact. Open house tours will run March 7–8, 12–15 and 19–22, offering the public an opportunity to tour these remarkable homes while also supporting St. Jude’s mission.
COMMUNITY BUILT ON COMPASSION
Each residence will soon be unveiled as a one-of-a-kind custom home—distinct in design, yet unified by a shared purpose. Upon completion, the homes will each be sold through traditional real estate transactions. The difference? The builders have pledged to raise $1 million to directly benefit St. Jude’s mission, ensuring that families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food. This project represents more than beautiful new construction—it reflects Southlake’s longstanding commitment to service and strong community leadership. “The city of Southlake proudly supports the mission and great work of St. Jude,” said Mayor Shawn McCaskill. “We are excited to welcome the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace to our community.”
ST. JUDE DREAM HOME SHOWPLACE
St. Jude Dream Home® Showplace is an extension of the St. Jude Dream Home® Giveaway, which is one of the largest awareness programs for St. Jude. In compassionate collaboration, the St. Jude Dream Home® Showplace is built by a local home builder through community support, donated labor and materials from local trade partners, vendors and national sponsors. Upon completion, the homes are sold, and each builder’s charitable commitment to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is fulfilled through fundraising.
WHY ST. JUDE MATTERS... HERE, THERE AND EVERYWHERE
Since opening its doors in 1962, St. Jude has fundamentally changed the trajectory of childhood cancer treatment. At a time in history when childhood cancer was largely considered incurable, survival rates hovered around 20%. Today, thanks to decades of groundbreaking research and global collaboration led by St. Jude, the overall survival rate exceeds 80%. And the hospital is not stopping there. As the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center devoted solely to children, St. Jude freely shares its research breakthroughs with doctors and scientists around the world—multiplying the impact of every discovery. And perhaps most remarkably, St. Jude families never receive a bill. Not for travel. Not for treatment. Not for housing
or food. This extraordinary promise allows families to focus on what matters most: their child. And, they won't stop until no child dies from cancer. The St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community exists to help sustain that promise.
WHY THE ‘SHOWPLACE’ IS DIFFERENT
The St. Jude Dream Home Showplace is an evolution of the traditional Dream Home Giveaway. While the Giveaway centers on a single home raffled to raise funds, the Showplace model expands that vision— bringing together multiple builders in a truly collaborative and community-driven fundraising effort. In this compassionate partnership, each home is constructed with support from donated or discounted labor, materials and services provided by their local trade partners and national sponsors.
Each builder is actively fundraising around their residence through generous support of subcontractors, suppliers, vendors and community partners. It’s a powerful ripple effect of generosity where all contributors are an essential part of St. Jude’s lifesaving mission to help end childhood cancer.
A LEGACY OF HOPE
Perhaps the most powerful element of the Dream Home Showplace Community is what it represents. These homes are not just structures of wood, stone and glass. They are symbols of what can happen when an entire industry unites around compassion—when competition gives way to real collaboration, and when success is measured not only in square footage, but in lives changed.
For the children whose stories of hope fill these pages—whose strength and resilience inspire donors and builders alike—projects like this help ensure that hope is not an abstract idea, but a lived reality.
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is leading in the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Since it’s founding over six decades ago, St. Jude has been working toward a future where every child has a chance by improving care for children everywhere. Projects like the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace turn that mission into something you can see and walk through—beautiful homes that are built with purpose, where every design
detail and dollar raised helps ensure families never receive a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. Because of generous donors and community partners, hope is not an abstract idea at St. Jude—it’s built, lived in and shared, one home at a time.
POWERED BY PARTNERSHIP: SPONSORS WHO MAKE IT POSSIBLE
The St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community would not be possible without the support of the builders, plus national and foundation-level sponsors who have all generously contributed their materials, products and resources. National sponsors include Brizo, Shaw Industries, Trane, Bosch and Kichler—brands synonymous with quality and innovation. Foundation level sponsor Middleby also reinforces the collaborative spirit that defines the initiative. These partners demonstrate how industry leadership extends beyond business—fueling hope through action. Last, but certainly not least, the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace homes would not be possible without the commitment of its builders and their continued support.
CRAFTMANSHIP WITH A CAUSE
At the heart of the Southlake Showplace Community are five exceptional builders— each guided by their distinctive design philosophy and united by a commitment to giving back. Architectural excellence creates a place where thoughtful design and meaningful impact go hand in hand. Let’s meet the five builders behind the 2026 Showplace Community.

STORIES OF HOPE
ST. JUDE CANCER SURVIVORS
At the heart of every St. Jude initiative are stories of hope—stories of children whose strength and resilience inspire everyone who meets them. It’s projects like St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community that turn hope into action, ensuring it’s not an abstract idea, but a lived reality. Here are five stories of hope:
RINOA After being diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor in 2022, Rinoa came to St. Jude for advanced care, that included proton therapy and chemotherapy. She and her family are grateful for both the medical innovation and financial relief St. Jude provides.

TY Diagnosed with retinoblastoma at 2, Ty’s treatment at St. Jude included surgery and chemotherapy. During his recovery, art became his refuge—a passion that remains part of his life along with his lasting connection to St. Jude.

KENZIE Diagnosed with leukemia in 2017, Kenzie completed more than two years of treatment at St. Jude. She graduated high school in 2022 and plans to pursue nursing—hoping to work at St. Jude, the place she calls her second family.

Research is the heart of the unique mission of St. Jude, and they believe that all children should be given the quality care that they deserve. HOMES YOU CAN TOUR
DATES: MARCH 7–8, 12–15 AND 19–22
Public open house tours of the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace Community will take place on the dates above, inviting the community to experience the residences firsthand in Southlake’s European-style Carillon Parc. The neighborhood features boutique shopping, distinctive dining, a central park and walkable green spaces. Buyers will follow a traditional purchase process—while directly supporting St. Jude families and a shared commitment to a future where no child dies from cancer.
FINDING CURES. SAVING CHILDREN.
When a community builds with intention, generosity and heart, it creates something far more powerful than homes. These five residences stand as a lasting reminder that purpose can live in every wall and window, and that impact is measured not in square footage, but in lives changed. Long after the doors open and the keys change hands, the legacy rising in Carillon Parc now will endure—rooted in hope, strengthened by compassion and built, unmistakably, on love.

Dallas-Fort Worth (and Beyond) Must-Visit
INDOOR WATER PARKS
Looking for a splash-tacular escape no matter the season?
Whether you’re cooling off from the Texas heat or looking for a fun, weather-proof adventure during the cooler months, DFW has some fantastic indoor water parks to explore. As a Texas travel blogger who’s spent years discovering the best attractions across the state, I’ve had the chance to experience these top indoor aquatic destinations firsthand. From thrilling slides to kid-friendly splash zones and relaxing pools, the Metroplex has plenty of aquatic adventures to offer no matter the forecast
KING SPA & WATERPARK
King Spa & Waterpark is a large Korean-inspired spa located in the Dallas area, offering a variety of relaxation experiences that the whole family can enjoy. It’s famous for its unique saunas, each infused with different elements like salt, crystals, mud, and gold to promote health and wellness. Their indoor waterpark facility features a variety of state-of-the-art amenities, such as the innovative “bade” pool, 30 ft slide and water bar. They also have various services including play pools, refreshing beverages, and soothing massages. What makes it a great place is that it’s open year-round, so you can visit any time of the day. Plus, with its Korean restaurant on-site, it’s a fantastic spot to grab a bite.
GREAT WOLF LODGE GRAPEVINE
This family-friendly resort is known for its massive indoor water park. It’s a great getaway for kids and adults alike, offering everything from thrilling water slides, a lazy river, and a wave pool to splash areas and interactive water features for little ones. The indoor waterpark is kept at a warm 84 degrees year-round, making it a perfect escape no matter the weather outside. Beyond the water, there are other activities like mini-golf, bowling, an arcade, and interactive games like MagiQuest, where kids can explore and solve quests around the resort. The lodge has a cozy, rustic vibe with themed rooms that kids love, and there are several dining options on-site. It’s a perfect place for fun family getaways.
EPIC WATERS INDOOR WATERPARK
The Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark in Grand Prairie, Texas, is one of the largest indoor water parks around DFW. It is open year-round and housed entirely indoors. It even has a retractable roof, so you can enjoy the water fun regardless of the weather. The park features a variety of water slides, including some really thrilling ones like the steep drop slide and a surfing simulator called the FlowRider. In addition to the water attractions, Epic Waters has an arcade, birthday party packages, and food options, offering an all-around fun experience for visitors of all ages.
THE COVE AT THE LAKEFRONT
The Cove at The Lakefront is a hidden gem nestled within The Lakefront development. With its tropical-themed atmosphere and crystal-clear waters, The Cove provides a fun and relaxing escape from the Texas heat. For the thrill-seekers, The Cove has its own FlowRider double surf machine—strap on a board and get ready for an adrenaline-pumping surfing experience, no matter the weather outside. And if you really want to test your nerves, take the plunge off the Cliff Jump—a fan-favorite for the most daring adventurers. But The Cove isn’t just for all of the daredevils. Spray Ground is loaded with whimsical water features perfect for entertaining little ones for hours on end. And the shallow wading pool offers a safe, splash-friendly space for the youngest swimmers.
OKANA RESORT & INDOOR WATERPARK
Even though it’s a short road trip away, I had to include OKANA because since it opened in early 2025, it has become a total game-changer. It features a 100,000-square-foot indoor water park and a stunning 4.5acre outdoor adventure lagoon that is actually one of the largest pools in the entire country. What’s really cool is how they have integrated indigenous culture into the design and dining. If you’ve already been to every park in DFW, this is the perfect “next adventure” to put on your list for a long weekend and short road trip to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

THE REC AQUATIC CENTER
The REC Aquatic Center in Grapevine, Texas, is part of the larger REC recreation facility and offers a fun, family-friendly environment for swimming and water activities. It features an indoor pool with water slides, a play structure for younger kids, plus a lap pool for more serious swimmers. The outdoor pool area has additional slides, a splash pad, and plenty of space to relax. It’s a great spot for both fitness and leisure, with swim lessons, water aerobics classes, and open swim times. The REC also has a fitness center, gym, and various community programs, making it a versatile spot for recreation!
PLANO AQUATIC CENTER
The Plano Aquatic Center is a versatile facility that’s a great place for the whole family to enjoy a variety of water activities. It features both indoor and outdoor pools, including a leisure pool with water slides and play features, a lap pool for swimming and exercise, and a diving well. The center also offers a lazy river for relaxing floats and a splash pad for young children. In addition to its excellent aquatic features, the center provides swim lessons, water aerobics classes, and other fitness programs. It’s a popular spot for families, swimmers of all ages, and anyone looking to stay active or have some water-based fun.
KALAHARI RESORTS & CONVENTIONS
Kalahari Resorts & Conventions is a large resort chain known for its expansive indoor water parks and family-friendly amenities. The Kalahari in Round Rock, Texas, is one of their locations. The Kalahari Round Rock water park boasts a range of aquatic adventures. Among them are the Barrelling Baboon, a thrilling slide that sends riders through twists and turns into a refreshing splash pool. For more interactive water playgrounds, visitors can explore Coral Cove, a water play area filled with slides, bouncers, mini basketball hoops, and other exciting features. And for adults seeking relaxation, the Grotto Swim-Up Bar offers a serene escape with its immersive atmosphere and Instagramworthy ambiance. Beyond the water park, Kalahari has a range of entertainment options, including an arcade, mini-golf, and a ropes course. Also a great road trip and totally worth the drive!
THE KELLER POINTE
The Keller Pointe’s indoor and outdoor pools promise fun for the entire family year-round. THIS 16,970 square foot aquatics center features two pools, one hot tub, two lazy rivers, three vortex pools, three water slides, a splash pad, and two sets of water-playground equipment, with amenities split evenly between indoor and outdoor spaces. The indoor pool is available year-round and stays a cozy 80+ degrees featuring three lap lanes, a kid-friendly pool and play area, a vortex, lazy river, and a water slide.
The Apex Center, located in McKinney, Texas, is a multi-purpose recreational facility that offers a variety of activities and amenities. It features an indoor aquatic center with a lap pool, leisure pool, and water slides, making it an epic place for both exercise and fun. The facility also has an indoor ice rink for skating and hockey, a gymnasium for sports and special events, and a fitness center with exercise equipment. Additionally, the Apex Center hosts various programs and classes for all ages, including swim lessons, fitness classes, and youth sports leagues. It’s designed to be a community hub for recreational activities and family-friendly events.
Q: WHAT IS THE LARGEST INDOOR WATERPARK IN AND AROUND DFW?
The largest indoor waterpark around Dallas, Texas, is the Epic Waters indoor Waterpark. Located in Grand Prairie, just outside Dallas. It covers more than 80,000 square feet, making it the largest indoor waterpark in the area.
Q: ARE THERE ADULT-ONLY INDOOR WATERPARKS IN TEXAS?
While Texas doesn’t have a dedicated adult-only indoor water park, it does offer several options that cater primarily to adults or have adult-only sections. Located in Grapevine, North Hot Springs has an adults-only hot tub area. They offer a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of the larger water park. And while not exclusively for adults, Kalahari Resorts in Round Rock
and Pocono Mountains offer a variety of adult-friendly amenities, including swim-up bars, lazy rivers, and relaxation areas. Please note that these options may have age restrictions or specific hours for adult-only activities, so it’s always a good idea to check the official websites or contact the resorts directly for the most up-to-date information.
No matter if you’re a thrill-seeker chasing high-speed slides, a family planning an all-ages adventure, or simply looking for a splash-filled escape any time of year, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex delivers an impressive lineup of indoor waterpark experiences. What I love most is the variety. From sprawling, resort-style outdoor destinations like Gaylord Texan Resort, where towering slides and lazy rivers feel like a vacation without leaving town, to community favorites such as Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark, which balances adrenaline-pumping attractions with family-friendly play zones, there truly is something for everyone. You’ll even find unique wellness-forward options like King Spa & Waterpark, a Korean-inspired retreat where soaking pools and relaxation take center stage.
Best of all, many of these indoor waterparks are open yearround, making them a go-to option whether you’re escaping the scorching Texas heat or looking for a warm, fun-filled outing on a chilly winter day. So the next time you’re craving a change of pace—or just a reason to make a splash—one of these fantastic indoor waterparks is ready to deliver instant vacation vibes, no matter the weather outside.

Heart
Nourishing your heart can be both simple and delicious with the right ingredients. These five heart-healthy recipes are packed with flavor and nutrients to support cardiovascular health—proving that eating well doesn’t mean sacrificing taste.
(3) In a sauce pan, combine butter, honey, brown sugar, and maple syrup. Cook over medium low heat, whisking occasionally, until uniform in color. Whisk in vanilla, nutmeg, cinnamon and salt.
(4) Pour sauce over oat mixture and stir thoroughly to evenly coat. Pour on baking tray and spread mixture out, then into oven. Bake 35-40 minutes, tossing once halfway through.
I don’t know about you, but I adore good granola—there’s something about a yogurt parfait layered with fresh fruit and crunchy, flavorful granola that instantly brightens my day. The best part is how customizable it is: swap pecans for almonds, choose your favorite dried fruit (dried cherries are my personal favorite), and make it your own. This easy, fun recipe comes together by tossing oats, nuts, and pumpkin seeds, coating them well with a warm mixture of honey, brown sugar, maple syrup, and vanilla, then baking until golden. It yields about six cups (and easily doubles), keeps for two to three weeks at room temperature, makes a lovely homemade gift, and will deepen in color and crispness as it cools—just be sure to start checking it around the 35-minute mark.
BEET BURRATA SALAD
I adore salad, and in winter I can’t get enough roasted beets— they’re healthy, and incredibly delicious. Paired with Burrata and finished with a quick homemade balsamic dressing, this salad comes together in minutes and is truly next-level.
(1) Roast the beets: Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Cut the tops off of beets, rinse, and dry. Wrap the clean beets together in one large foil packet, crimping the edges. Place the foil packet on a baking tray and bake for 40-50 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center pierces the beets easily. Unwrap and set aside until cool enough to handle, then pinch off the skins. Chill in fridge.
(1) For vinaigrette: Whisk ingredients together and serve.
PEAR POMEGRANATE SALAD
Pears shine in fall and winter, and this elegant salad proves it. Sliced pear is paired with spinach, feta, pomegranate, and toasted pecans, then finished with a quick apple cider vinaigrette. It’s healthy, customizable, and serves 4–6 beautifully.
(2) Arrange spinach on a platter or build directly on plates or in a salad bowl. Fan out thinly sliced pear. Crumble feta cheese on top. Sprinkle pomegranate arils and toasted pecans over salad. Serve with apple cider vinaigrette.
(1) For vinaigrette: Pour olive oil in a jar. Slowly stream apple cider vinegar into olive oil, using an electric salad whisk to emulsify the dressing. Whisk in honey, Dijon, and salt and pepper to taste.
EASY BAKED MAHI MAHI
Looking for an healthy weeknight dinner that’s elegant enough for company? This baked mahi mahi is perfectly seasoned, ready in just minutes, and pairs beautifully with roasted potatoes and a simple salad. It’s ideal for feeding a crowd on one sheet pan.
(6) Serve with lemon wedges and fresh Italian parsley.
BUTTERNUT QUINOA SALAD
This salad is cozy, nutritious, and full of winter flavor, featuring roasted squash, kale, and maple vinaigrette. It’s so easy to customize with your favorite greens, cheeses, and nuts.
(1) Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Cut ends off butternut squash. Peel, then cut in half and scoop out seeds. Slice, then cut into cubes. Toss cubed squash with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Roast on baking sheet for 30 minutes or until fork-tender. Let cool.
(1) For vinaigrette: Whisk together ingredients. note: Add all if serving immediately. If refrigerating, use half of the dressing and toss with the remaining vinaigrette right before serving.

Gourmet Chocolate Boutique ESPECIALLY SWEET
Special Treats Served by Exceptional People
On a charming stretch of old Main Street in Keller, a new shop is quietly melting hearts. Especially Sweet is more than just a place to satisfy your sweet tooth—it’s a story of family, purpose and the belief that everyone deserves meaningful work and a welcoming place in the community. Step inside Especially Sweet and you’re immediately greeted by the rich aroma of chocolate and the warm feeling that comes from something handmade with care. The shop features an extensive selection of truffles, creamy fudge, and other artisanal candies sourced from Vermont and East Texas—regions that are known for their smallbatch craftsmanship.
Each piece feels like an intentional work of art, whether it’s a classic chocolate truffle, a bold seasonal flavor or a nostalgic combination that transports you back to your childhood. Remember those huge chocolate oranges that came apart in slices? Their orange chocolate truffles are the rich and gooey grown up version!
Behind the counter—and behind the heart of the shop—are owners Mike and Aspen Calhoun. The idea for Especially Sweet was inspired by their son, Shane, who has special needs. As Shane neared the age when students typically “age out” of the transitional school system, Mike and Aspen began looking ahead. Like many families in similar circumstances, they were faced with a familiar and daunting question—what comes
next? Instead of settling for limited paths, they decided to forge a new one themselves. Especially Sweet was opened with the goal of giving Shane and his friends a place to work, grow and feel proud of what they do each day.
The shop is intentionally designed to be an inclusive and supportive environment where Shane can thrive while also contributing in a meaningful way. It is a powerful example of how small businesses can address real community needs while still maintaining their own missions. The Calhouns’ vision reaches far beyond their own family. Especially Sweet embodies a broader mission of inclusion— demonstrating what becomes possible when communities choose to invest in people of all abilities. Their customers aren’t just buying chocolate—they are supporting a business model that values dignity, opportunity, connection, and most important, acceptance.
In a world that often moves too fast, Especially Sweet invites you to slow down. My favorite part is right when you walk in the door, there is a set of table and chairs. The Calhouns would love for you to stay awhile. Browse the candy cases, strike up a conversation, and enjoy something handmade with care and intention.
Whether you’re picking up a gift for a loved one or treating yourself, Especially Sweet is proof that when purpose meets passion, the result can be wonderfully sweet.
