“My name is Seth Whalen, and I’m an entrepreneur, fitness enthusiast, owner of PTL Events (ptlevents.com) and PTL Security (ptl-security.com), and someone who truly believes that long-term success depends on taking care of both your body and your mind. Between running multiple businesses, staying active in the gym, and spending time with my family, I need to feel my best every day. After meeting the team at PEMF Recovery Plus, I became curious about the technology and decided to give it a try. What started as simple curiosity has become an important part of my wellness routine, helping me to recover faster, stay active, think more clearly and perform at a higher level.” ————————————————————————————————————————
“PEMF Recovery Plus has become one of the habits that helps me stay consistent. I recover faster, move better, and leave every session feeling refreshed, energized and mentally focused. It doesn't replace healthy living — it enhances everything I’m already doing, allowing me to perform at my best both in business and in everyday life.” ———————————————————————————————————————————————————
CURIOSITY TURNED INTO COMMITMENT “I first discovered PEMF Recovery Plus after meeting the owners at a community event. I didn’t know much about pulsed electromagnetic field therapy (PEMF) at the time, but what began as a casual conversation quickly turned into an hour-long discussion about the science behind the technology. As fellow entrepreneurs, we connected immediately, and I appreciated how passionate they were about helping people improve their overall wellness. At the time, I was looking for something that could help with recovery after workouts, reduce ongoing stiffness, relieve lingering aches and pains, and possibly improve my sleep and focus. I figured that if there was a way to help my body recover more efficiently while also supporting my overall health, it was worth exploring.”
RECOVERY CREATES CONSISTENCY “After about a month of consistently attending twice a week, I began noticing that my body wasn’t nearly as tight. Recovery became easier, my shoulder, chest, and arm tension decreased significantly, and even my tennis elbow improved. Ironically, the moment I truly realized how much PEMF was helping came after I missed an entire week because of my schedule. During my next workout, muscles felt noticeably tighter and everything seemed more difficult. That made me appreciate just how much PEMF had quietly become an important part of my recovery routine. One surprise has been the improvement in mental clarity. I always leave sessions feeling more focused, motivated, and mentally sharp.”
SMALL CHANGES THAT MADE A BIG DIFFERENCE “For years, I dealt with chronic tightness running down the entire right side of my body—from my shoulder and chest through my back and into my leg. My shoulder and chest were especially tight, making bench press and shoulder press uncomfortable, and I had developed persistent tennis elbow that simply wasn’t getting better. I eventually settled into using PEMF Recovery Plus about twice a week, which has proven to be the perfect routine for me. During each session I answer emails or work on my laptop while relaxing. Although the treatments are calming enough that many people fall asleep, I consistently leave feeling energized instead of tired. It feels like both my body and my mind have been reset.”
INVESTING IN LONG-TERM WELLNESS “I have learned that staying healthy is about building consistent habits. I work out, stretch, eat well, and PEMF Recovery Plus has become an important part of that routine. It complements everything I’m already doing by helping me recover faster and feel better overall. My wife is also now a member and PEMF is a regular part of both of our wellness routines. What we appreciate most is how effortless PEMF is—we can stay productive during sessions and leave with less stiffness, better mobility, more energy and greater mental clarity. I have recommended PEMF Recovery Plus to everyone I know because I genuinely believe in it!”

11 Years of Inspirational, Accomplished & Engaging Women There are some traditions that become far more meaningful than we ever imagined, and our annual Inspirational, Accomplished & Engaging Women issue is certainly one of them. What began in 2016 as a way to recognize a small group of remarkable women has grown into one of the most anticipated and heartfelt editions we publish each year. Before you turn these pages, I’d like to make one thing abundantly clear—this feature is not advertising. Every single woman of the 110 highlighted in this section over the last 11 years was selected because of her character, accomplishments, leadership, service, and the positive impact she has made in our community—not because she purchased this recognition. In fact, these pages have always been provided completely free of charge to each and every honoree. Since the very beginning, our goal has simply been to shine a spotlight on women whose stories deserve to be told and whose lives inspire others. This month, we are proud to celebrate our 11th annual feature. Each honoree represents far more than an impressive resume or professional success. They are leaders, mentors, volunteers, entrepreneurs, educators, healthcare professionals, advocates, mothers, daughters, wives, friends, and neighbors whose lives reflect a genuine commitment to serving others. One of the things that makes this feature so special is that we have never repeated an honoree. That isn’t because previous recipients haven't deserved to be recognized again—many have been nominated multiple times— but because Northeast Tarrant County is filled with an incredible number of women quietly making a profound difference every day. Every year, your nominations introduce us to new stories of compassion, perseverance, innovation, generosity and servant leadership that deserve to be shared. Inside these pages, you’ll meet our newest class of honorees while also celebrating the remarkable legacy created by the women who came before them. Together, these 110 women represent thousands of volunteer hours, countless charitable efforts, thriving businesses, strengthened families and lives forever changed through simple acts of kindness and leadership. Their collective impact reaches far beyond what can be measured, creating a ripple effect that continues throughout our community. To our 2026 honorees, thank you for leading with integrity, courage and compassion. Your willingness to invest your time, talents and hearts into others inspires all of us to do the same. Finally, thank you to every reader who has taken the time over the years to submit nominations and share these incredible stories. You have helped us shine a spotlight on women who might otherwise never seek recognition for themselves. We are honored to tell their stories and look forward to discovering the next generation of Inspirational, Accomplished & Engaging Women who continue to make Northeast Tarrant County such an extraordinary place to call home. Created on Purpose: DISCOVERING THE PASSION GOD PLACED WITHIN YOU There comes a point in every believer’s life when the questions become deeper than “What should I do?" Instead, we begin asking, “Why did God create me?” We long to know that our lives matter, our gifts have meaning, and our work serves a greater purpose. The encouraging truth is that God never created anyone by accident. Long before you took your first breath, He designed you with unique abilities, experiences and passions that point toward His divine calling. When we surrender our plans to Him, our purpose is no longer something that we chase — it becomes something we faithfully live each day. YOU WERE CREATED WITH INTENTION God is not random. Every single life carries intentional design. Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.” God doesn’t simply save us from something—He saves us for something. The talents you possess, the burdens that stir your heart, and even the challenges you’ve overcome often become tools God uses to bless others. Your story is part of His greater story. PASSION OFTEN POINTS TO PURPOSE God-given passion is more than excitement or ambition. It is a holy burden that continually draws your heart toward serving Him and serving others. Nehemiah was passionate about rebuilding Jerusalem’s broken walls. Esther was compelled to stand courageously for her people. Paul couldn’t stop sharing the Gospel despite hardship. Their passion wasn't rooted in personal success—it flowed from obedience to God’s calling. Try aking yourself: What consistently moves my heart?

Where do I naturally find joy in serving? Those answers may reveal where God is inviting you to faithfully invest your life. PURPOSE REQUIRES FAITHFUL OBEDIENCE Many people wait for a dramatic calling while overlooking the opportunities God places directly in front of them today. Purpose unfolds one faithful step at a time. Whether raising children, leading a business, teaching students, caring for neighbors, or encouraging someone who is hurting, every act done for God’s glory has eternal significance. As Colossians 3:23 teaches, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” God is often more interested in our faithfulness than our visibility. TRUST THE ONE WHO WROTE YOUR STORY Your purpose isn’t something you have to manufacture—it is something you discover by walking closely with Christ. As you spend time in Scripture, seek Him in prayer, and remain willing to obey, He faithfully opens doors in His perfect timing. You may not
know every chapter ahead, but you can trust the Author who has already written the story. “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11 LIVING OUT YOUR GOD-GIVEN CALLING God has given each of us gifts for a reason, passions with purpose, and a life designed to reflect His glory. Those gifts were never meant to just remain hidden—they were entrusted to you to encourage others, serve His Kingdom and point people to Christ. Every season of your life, both joyful and difficult, can be used for His greater purpose when surrendered to Him. Live boldly in faith, serve faithfully and trust God even when the path ahead isn't clear. As you continue seeking Him, He will direct your steps and reveal His purpose one day at a time. You are created intentionally, uniquely called, and wonderfully made. The greatest fulfillment in life is found not in pursuing your own plans, but in faithfully living out His.

RIPE READS BOOK REVIEWS
Author Gracie Lynne’s Finding My Father series is a compelling blend of Christian allegory and inspirational fiction with emotional storytelling that invites readers on a journey of faith, healing and hope. Rather than relying on predictable plot twists, Lynne crafts a deeply personal narrative exploring the universal longing for identity, purpose, and unconditional love. The result is a series that resonates with readers long after the final page. The story follows young James, a boy burdened by the pain of growing up without knowing his father. Guided by the mysterious and compassionate Daisy, he embarks on a remarkable journey that gradually reveals not only answers about his past, but also profound truths about God’s unwavering presence and purpose. Throughout the series, James encounters challenges that mirror the struggles many readers face in their own lives, making his transformation both relatable and inspiring.
Finding My Father Book Series The Journey Begins is book 1 and From the Valley to the Palace is book 2, and book 3 An Answer to Prayer is a pivotal chapter, but it is certainly not the conclusion.
Each installment builds naturally upon the last. The Journey Begins introduces readers to James’ search for belonging and has already earned recognition in the Christian literary community for its inspiring message. From the Valley to the Palace expands the story with powerful themes of resilience, identity and overcoming bitterness through faith. The newest release, An Answer to Prayer, courageously explores difficult subjects including trauma, patience, forgiveness
and trusting God’s timing, demonstrating a maturity that has elevated this series beyond traditional inspirational fiction. One of Lynne’s greatest strengths is her ability to weave biblical principles into imaginative storytelling without feeling forced or preachy. Her allegorical style allows readers to discover spiritual truths organically through each characters' experiences. Lynne’s writing is heartfelt, accessible, and emotionally authentic, offering encouragement while acknowledging life’s deepest wounds. Whether readers are navigating disappointment, loss or questions about their own life purpose, they will likely find moments of comfort and reflection within these pages. The series’' growing list of literary honors further reflects its impact. Recent recognition from both the International Firebird Book Awards and the Christian Indie Awards highlights not only the quality of Lynne’s writing, but also the meaningful connection her stories have established with faith-based readers. For readers who appreciate uplifting fiction with substance, Finding My Father is an outstanding choice. It is a thoughtful series that reminds us that healing is a journey, faith grows through perseverance, and our greatest discoveries often come when we trust the path before us. Gracie Lynne has created a memorable collection that offers inspiration, hope and timeless spiritual encouragement for readers of all ages.
ABOUT AUTHOR: Gracie Lynne is an award-winning author and business owner based in Fort Worth. Her literary portfolio includes the "”Finding My Father” series and acclaimed “The Shattered Vase.” Her work earned numerous accolades, including International Impact Author of the Year, a Global Book Awards bronze medal, and a finalist nomination for the Amazon Storyteller UK 2025 contest. Visitors to Galleria Dallas can look forward to a new look as the shopping destination refreshes its Center Court and Rink Level. Scheduled for completion by the end of the year, the renovation will transform the area surrounding the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center with updated finishes, enhanced amenities and a brighter, inviting atmosphere. The most noticeable change will be replacement of the rink’s signature teal glass with a sleek off-white finish designed to modernize the space while allowing the skating rink to remain the centerpiece. New flooring, upgraded lighting and comfortable seating areas will encourage guests to relax, enjoy a coffee and take in the activity on the ice. The center’s iconic scissor-style escalators will also feature striking new artwork, adding another eye-catching design element. Technology upgrades are also part of the project. Interactive digital kiosks throughout the center and new Level 2 digital displays will help shoppers easily locate stores and text directions to their phones for a more seamless shopping experience. “Our ongoing investment in Galleria Dallas, combined with strong growth in foot traffic, reinforces that modern shopping centers can still prosper in the digital era,” admits GM Angie Freed. “These enhancements will make Galleria Dallas even more of a destination for returning shoppers and first-time visitors.” The renovation builds on recent improvements, including remodeled restrooms, a new entrance connecting The Westin Galleria Dallas and Bachendorf’s Jewelers, and new party rooms on Rink Level. Home to over 200 retailers, restaurants and attractions—including Netflix House, the Galleria Ice Skating Center and nationally recognized brands— Galleria Dallas continues to welcome more than 12 million visitors each year while investing in an exceptional shopping and entertainment experience. galleriadallas.com

RESTORING MORE THAN JUST FLOORS RECOAT REVOLUTION GIVES BACK TO SOUTHLAKE
Southlake’s reputation as one of the nation’s most desirable communities is built not only on beautiful neighborhoods, but also on residents and businesses who take pride in keeping it that way. Through the City of Southlake’s Keep Southlake Beautiful Adopt-A-Street Program, volunteers commit to quarterly litter cleanups that help preserve the city’s scenic roadways. ReCoat Revolution of North DFW recently completed its first year maintaining Peytonville Avenue between State Highway 1709 and Elks Lane. The adopted roadway is especially meaningful to owners Joe and Jennifer Worrel, as it sits just minutes from both their home and business and borders Carroll Senior High School, where their two sons have spent countless hours as student-athletes. What began as a company commitment has quickly became a family tradition. Friends, neighbors and Carroll classmates joined the Worrel family during their cleanup days, reflecting the community spirit the program encourages. “It’s been a great way to involve our boys in our family business,” Joe Worrel said. “They’re learning that you can’t expect the community to care about your business until your business shows it cares about the community. We don’t just operate in Southlake—we’re invested in it. ”Their oldest son, Jesse Worrel, a rising sophomore at Carroll Senior High School, enjoyed seeing friends participate alongside his family.“ My friends and teammates joined us for the cleanups, and it’s been really fun," Jesse shared. “It’s cool helping take care of a place where we spend so much of our time.” Known for its trademarked dust-free wood floor refinishing process, ReCoat Revolution believes restoration extends beyond homes to the community itself. “We are all grateful to the City of Southlake for creating opportunities like Adopt-A-Street,” Jennifer Worrel admits. “Programs like this make it easy for families and businesses to give back while helping keep Southlake the beautiful place we’re all proud to call home.” ReCoat Revolution plans to continue participating in the Adopt-A-Street Program and encourages other businesses, organizations and families to get involved through simple acts of community service. —————————————————————————–——— recoatrevolution.com/northdfw | tinyurl.com/SLadoptastreet SocietyLifeMag.com

Generations of Trust. One Smile at a Time. In an era where healthcare is increasingly shaped by corporate ownership, insurance limitations and onesize-fits-all treatment models, finding a dental practice that places relationships and uncompromising clinical excellence above all else has become increasingly rare. For more than 42 years, Gist & Hayes Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry has quietly earned a reputation as one of the nation’s premier restorative and cosmetic dental practices—not through flashy marketing, but through truly extraordinary results, enduring patient relationships and a steadfast commitment to doing dentistry the right way. Patients travel from throughout Texas, across the United States and even internationally because they understand that exceptional dentistry is not simply about creating beautiful smiles—it’s about preserving health, restoring confidence and improving lives for decades to come. —————————————————————————————————
Since opening its doors in 1984, this dental practice has remained in the same Southlake location, becoming both a cornerstone of the community and a destination for patients seeking the highest standard of restorative and cosmetic dental care. Today, that legacy continues with the same philosophy that has defined the practice for over four decades — every patient deserves personalized attention, exceptional craftsmanship and a relationship built on trust.
. ————————————————————————————————— At Gist & Hayes, dentistry has never been about moving patients through appointments as quickly as possible. Their time is intentionally invested in understanding each person’s goals, concerns and overall health before any treatment recommendations are made. Every smile tells a different story, and every treatment plan is carefully designed around the individual rather than insurance guidelines or standardized protocols. That relationship-first philosophy has created remarkable loyalty among patients. Many families have trusted the practice for generations, while others willingly travel hundreds—or even thousands—of miles because they simply cannot find this level of comprehensive care elsewhere.
Restoring More Than Teeth
While their cosmetic smile makeovers often receive the most attention with amazing before-and- after photos, restorative dentistry represents the heart of the practice. Many patients arrive after years of worn teeth, failing dental work, missing teeth, chronic discomfort or complex bite issues that affect both appearance and daily function. Rather than simply addressing isolated problems, their team evaluates the mouth as an integrated system, carefully identifying the underlying causes before developing their personalized and comprehensive treatment solutions. Their expertise includes full-mouth rehabilitation, complex crown and bridge restorations, implant restorative care, smile design, bite reconstruction and advanced cosmetic procedures that blend artistry with precise clinical science.

At Gist & Hayes, oral health is viewed as an essential part of overall wellness— not an isolated system. Current research continues to strengthen the connection between chronic oral inflammation and conditions affecting the rest of the body, making preventive dental care more important today than ever. That’s why the practice emphasizes healthy gums, infection-free tissues and the use of high-quality biocompatible materials designed to support long-term oral and systemic health. Every treatment begins with establishing a healthy biological foundation before any restorative or cosmetic procedures are considered. Every restoration is completed utilizing premium laboratory partnerships and evidence-based restorative protocols using biocompatible materials selected for their long-term clinical performance, structural integrity and also for esthetic excellence. This meticulous approach emphasizes precision, function and durability—delivering restorations that are designed to perform predictably for a lifetime. This whole-health philosophy also includes comprehensive hygiene care, periodontal therapy, airway and sleep appliance therapy when appropriate, TMJ evaluation, as well as individualized treatment planning based on each patient’s overall health goals. The philosophy is simple—beautiful smiles should also be healthy smiles. By protecting oral health today, patients can enjoy stronger teeth, healthier gums and greater confidence for their lifetime.

traditional removable dentures. Patients who once struggled to eat comfortably, and smile confidently or speak naturally often describe their new smiles as giving them their lives back. Rather than viewing implants as a cosmetic procedure alone, the team carefully considers longterm stability, bite function, bone preservation and overall oral health to ensure lasting success. The result is dentistry designed not only to restore smiles, but to restore quality of life. —————————————————————
Built Around Prevention
One of the defining characteristics of Gist & Hayes Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry is its unwavering commitment to preventive care. While many dental practices primarily focus on repairing problems after they occur, the team believes the healthiest smile is one that avoids unnecessary dental disease altogether. Their highly experienced dental hygiene department plays an essential role in protecting patients' long-term investment in their oral health. Through comprehensive periodontal care, early diagnosis, meticulous maintenance protocols and patient education, they work to help patients preserve their natural teeth for life whenever possible. This preventive philosophy protects the longevity of restorative and cosmetic dentistry already completed—ensuring beautiful results remain healthy and functional for a lifetime. —————————————————————
Comfort Without Compromise
Dental anxiety keeps countless people from receiving the care they need. For many patients, years—even decades—of postponed treatment begin with a single unpleasant experience. Gist & Hayes has worked diligently to remove that barrier through safe, comfortable oral sedation dentistry. Patients requiring extensive treatment can often complete years of needed dental work in significantly fewer visits while also remaining relaxed throughout appointments. Sedation also allows those with significant dental anxiety to finally receive the care they’ve delayed, often transforming what was once a fearful experience into one that feels calm, comfortable and surprisingly easy. The practice believes that exceptional dentistry should never come at the expense of patient comfort. —————————————————————
Excellence Is a Team Effort
While Dr. Hayes leads the clinical vision, he is quick to recognize that exceptional dentistry is only possible because of the remarkable team surrounding him. From dental hygienists and assistants to treatment coordinators and office administrative professionals, every member shares a commitment to excellence, compassion and genuine patient relationships. They see this
career as thier calling. Their patients frequently comment not only on the quality of dentistry they receive, but on how valued they feel throughout every interaction. That consistency doesn’t just happen by accident. It reflects years of shared philosophy, ongoing education and a culture where every one of the team members understands they play a vital role in improving patients’ lives. Many of the patients describe the office less as a dental practice and more as an extended family—and that may be the practice’s greatest accomplishment of all. —————————————————————
A Higher Standard of Care
As dentistry continues evolving, many dental practices have become increasingly influenced by corporate ownership, production quotas and insurance-driven treatment models. However, Gist & Hayes Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry has intentionally remained independent. That independence allows every clinical decision to be guided solely by what is in the patient’s best long-term interest rather than outside financial pressures. Instead of limiting treatment options based upon insurance reimbursements, the team focuses on providing patients with education, information and clinical recommendations that are necessary to make confident and informed decisions about their health. It’s an approach that prioritizes quality over volume, relationships over transactions and long-term outcomes over short-term convenience. Patients seeking that superior level of individualized care quickly recognize the difference. —————————————————————
A Remarkable Legacy
While dentistry continues to advance through new technology, materials and techniques, the founding principles that built this practice remain remarkably unchanged. Relationships. Integrity. Clinical Excellence. Compassion. Those values continue to guide every interaction and every treatment recommendation and every smile restored. For over four decades, Gist & Hayes Restorative and Cosmetic Dentistry has built a reputation that extends far beyond Southlake— not because it sought recognition, but because extraordinary care naturally earns extraordinary trust. Today, that legacy continues with the same unwavering commitment that has defined the practice since 1984. The mission is simple—to be a blessing to every person who walks through the doors. Because at Gist & Hayes, dentistry has always been about far more than just teeth. It’s about restoring confidence. Protecting health. Building lifelong relationships. And creating extraordinary smiles that stand the test of time. ————————————————————— When you’re ready to smile more, their team is ready to show you how. Schedule your free consultation today.

A Southlake Carroll alumna, she discovered her love for performing at an early age through school choirs, local theatre productions and community performances. Her passion for musical theatre led her to earn a Bachelor of Music in Musical Theatre from Oklahoma City University before moving to New York City to pursue a professional performing career. While in New York, Choate performed with the New York Holiday Singers, including an appearance on Good Morning America. After returning to North Texas in 2018, she became active in the local performing arts community, starring as Mary Poppins with Gateway Performing Arts, teaching voice lessons, and appearing in regional theatre productions. Represented by The Campbell Agency, she has also appeared in commercials for Blue Bell Ice Cream and
Palm Beach Tan, along with voice-over and independent film projects. When the pandemic shifted the entertainment landscape, Choate embraced songwriting, channeling her faith into Contemporary Christian music that offers hope and encouragement. In 2026, she has released a debut album, More To Come, a collection of original songs inspired by God’s faithfulness through seasons of uncertainty. She also authored a companion 21-day devotional that pairs Scripture with each song, creating an uplifting resource for readers seeking strength and perseverance. They encourage independence, build confidence, create lasting friendships and provide participants with meaningful experiences that might not otherwise be available. They also offer families invaluable support by creating safe, engaging environments where loved ones can continue learning, growing and thriving. SL greater good For many people, losing the ability to drive represents far more than just giving up a set of car keys — it can mean surrendering independence, missing medical appointments, declining invitations from friends, and even slowly becoming disconnected from the community they love. Yet in Southlake, one remarkable nonprofit has spent more than 25 years ensuring that transportation never becomes a barrier to living a full and engaged life. Call A Ride of Southlake (CARS) quietly provides something many of us take for granted — the freedom to go where life happens. Powered almost entirely by compassionate volunteers, CARS delivers more than simply transportation — it delivers dignity, confidence, companionship and peace of mind. Whether it’s a doctor's appointment, a trip to the grocery store, a visit to the senior center or simply the opportunity to remain active in the community, every ride represents a neighbor helping a neighbor. In a world that often moves too fast, CARS reminds us that sometimes the greatest act of kindness is simply showing up and offering someone a ride.

How Call A Ride of Southlake Is Keeping Neighbors Connected, Independent & Engaged
more than just a ride

SL greater good
Transportation is something most of us rarely think twice about. We climb into our vehicles, run errands, meet friends for lunch, attend medical appointments and visit family whenever we choose. But for many older adults and disabled residents, the inability to drive can dramatically change life. Without dependable transportation, routine doctor's visits may be postponed. Grocery shopping is complicated. Social activities begin to disappear from the calendar. Over time, isolation can affect physical and emotional well-being. That is exactly the challenge that Call A Ride of Southlake was created to solve.
Call A Ride of Southlake (CARS) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping Southlake seniors and disabled adults maintain their independence through free, volunteer-driven transportation. Since 2000, CARS has connected neighbors with their medical appointments, grocery shopping, pharmacies, local activities and other essential destinations, reducing isolation while enhancing their quality of life. Powered by compassionate volunteers and community support, the local nonprofit makes a meaningful difference — one ride, one relationship and one neighbor at a time.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGES LIVES
A SIMPLE MISSION WITH BIG IMPACT
Founded as a nonprofit organization in 1999, Call A Ride of Southlake or CARS provides free, non-emergency transportation for Southlake residents who are age 55 and older, as well as disabled adults who are no longer able to drive. Since its first official ride in January 2000, CARS has provided over 36,000 rides, with volunteers logging more than 250,000 miles helping neighbors reach medical appointments, run errands and also stay connected. CARS transportation services are available weekdays from 8am to 5pm.

The organization’s mission is beautifully straightforward—encourage and enable adults to remain independent and active. Every scheduled ride helps make that mission a reality. Volunteer drivers transport clients to physician appointments, physical therapy sessions, outpatient procedures, grocery stores, pharmacies, salons, senior centers, banks and local events. Medical appointments may extend up to 25 miles from Southlake, while everyday errands are provided within a sevenmile radius of Southlake Town Hall. While
those destinations may seem ordinary, their impact is anything but. For someone who has recently surrendered their driver's license or whose mobility has changed, these trips often represent continued independence. Instead of relying exclusively on busy family members or remaining homebound, riders can continue participating in everyday life with confidence. For adult children caring for aging parents, CARS also provides welcome peace of mind by helping bridge the transportation gap during busy workweeks and family schedules.
NEIGHBORS SERVING NEIGHBORS
Perhaps the most inspiring part of CARS is its volunteer model. Unlike commercial transportation services, CARS relies on local residents who generously donate both their time and use of their personal vehicles. Drivers choose rides that will fit their schedules, making volunteering both flexible and rewarding. Before serving, volunteers complete an application, undergo background checks and provide proof of insurance. CARS provides supplemental insurance coverage for volunteer drivers. Many volunteers also say the experience quickly becomes much more than simply driving. Conversations during rides often develop into lasting friendships. Drivers hear fascinating stories, learn about their remarkable lives and build meaningful relationships with the people they serve. In return, riders gain more than just a ride— they experience genuine human connection. In an increasingly digital world, those face-to-face conversations have become one of the organization's greatest gifts.
BUILT BY THE COMMUNITY
The idea behind CARS was born in 1998 when a group of Southlake retirees noticed an unfortunate trend. Friends who had stopped driving were no longer attending community activities, church gatherings or social events. Rather than accepting isolation as inevitable, they decided to create a solution. Working alongside the City of Southlake, they established Call A Ride of Southlake as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. More than two decades later, CARS continues
to thrive through the dedication of its volunteer drivers and Board members, along with the invaluable support of local government, businesses and generous donors who recognize the importance of helping neighbors remain connected.
EVERY RIDE MATTERS
One ride may not seem significant. But multiply that by thousands over 25 years, and the impact becomes extraordinary. Each trip represents someone receiving medical care they otherwise might have postponed. Someone attending a family gathering. Someone picking up a muchneeded prescription. Someone enjoying lunch with friends instead of spending yet another afternoon alone. The value cannot be measured solely in miles driven. It is measured in healthier lives, in stronger families and a more connected community. For CARS riders, knowing that dependable transportation is available reduces anxiety and restores confidence, allowing them to continue living independently for longer.
CARING HEARTS WANTED
Like many nonprofits, CARS continually needs volunteers and financial support to meet growing demand. As Southlake’s population continues to mature, the cities transportation needs will only increase. The organization acknowledges that it cannot fulfill every ride request without additional volunteer drivers, making the community involvement more important than ever. Volunteering doesn’t require specialized training—just a caring heart, a valid driver’s
license and the willingness to spend a little time helping a neighbor in need. Financial donations are equally valuable, supporting insurance, technology, scheduling operations and other essential expenses that keep the organization running smoothly. Whether someone contributes an hour behind the wheel or makes a charitable gift, every act of generosity helps keep the organization’s wheels turning.
A COMMUNITY THAT CARES
Communities are often defined by schools, parks, restaurants and neighborhoods. But their true character is revealed by how they care for their most vulnerable residents. Call A Ride of Southlake embodies the very best of what makes this community special. It is built on compassion rather than convenience, relationships rather than transactions, and community service rather than recognition. For thousands of Southlake residents, CARS has provided something far greater than transportation. It has reminded its people that they are still valued members of the community by preserving their independence, reducing their isolation and strengthened their families. Sometimes changing a life doesn't require a grand gesture. Sometimes it begins with an open door, friendly smile and a simple question: “Where would you like to go today?” ————————————————––— To learn more about becoming a volunteer, requesting transportation or making a donation, visit:

CUCUMBER SOUP ———————— R E C I P E F R O M T H E R O S E T A B L E . C O M

Creamy and flavorful with crispy bacon, this is everything I want in a summer dinner! This is an especially great recipe for summer entertaining because you make it in the morning, let it chill all day, and just pour it when your friends arrive. I always serve it the same way — with a dollop of Greek yogurt, a drizzle of balsamic vinegar, a drizzle of really good extra virgin olive oil, a generous amount of crispy bacon, and chunks of avocado. You’ll want grilled or toasted bread to sop up all the flavor. I serve this as a main course with shrimp, in a martini glass with toast, as a side dish, and I even served it as soup shooters at a recent gathering. This is a perfect party dish because you can make it ahead of time and keep it in a pitcher until ready. FOR GARNISH 4 small spoonfuls Greek yogurt Drizzle olive oil Drizzle balsamic vinegar 1 avocado 3-4 strips cherrywood smoked bacon, cooked and crumbled
C R A F T E D B Y K A T I E - R O S E W A T S O N ————————
INGREDIENTS (serves 4 as main course and 6-8 as a side dish) 16 oz Greek yogurt 8 oz chicken broth 2 hothouse cucumbers, seeded and chopped 1/2 cup white onion, chopped 6 green onions, white and green parts chopped 2 Tbsp dill + 2 Tbsp Italian parsley 2 tsp salt 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (4 lemons)
.................................................................................................................... (1) Using a blender or handheld immersion blender, blend first eight ingredients until smooth. Chill for at least four hours, but eight is best! .................................................................................................................... (2) Stir in lemon juice just before serving. Garnish with avocado, bacon crumbles, a drizzle of olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and a spoonful of greek yogurt. Serve with crusty bread. ....................................................................................................................

ACQUARIO PIZZA PASTA BAR
There’s a new reason for pizza lovers to make the trek to Keller, and it comes courtesy of one of the area’s most respected names in Italian fine dining. Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar has opened its doors on Keller Parkway in the spot once housed by Maple Street Biscuit Company. While Acquario’s original restaurant focuses on fresh seafood, steaks, and upscale Italian cuisine, the new Pizza Pasta Bar concept embraces a casual approach, but without sacrificing their quality or authenticity. Whether you just stepped off the soccer fields or you’re meeting the book club for cocktails, Acquario Pizza Pasta

Bar is a great place to slow down your pace and unwind. From the moment you walk inside, it’s clear this isn’t your average pizza joint. Their modern dining room is entered around an open kitchen where guests watch pizzas slide into the roaring wood-fired oven. The Pizza Pasta Bar menu celebrates the simplicity of authentic Italian cooking, beginning with handcrafted pizzas made from house dough and high-end ingredients. Traditional favorites like their Margherita showcase the beauty of their freshly prepared mozzarella, vibrant tomato sauce, basil and a perfectly bubbly crust. For diners looking to venture beyond the classics, gourmet creations topped with truffle, prosciutto, artichokes or seasonal veggies offer a taste of Italy that’s elevated, yet also approachable. While pizza may be the star, the fresh-made pasta also deserves equal attention. From their rich Rigatoni Bolognese to their creamy Gnocchi Sorrentina and comforting Lasagna, each plate delivers the kind of old-world flavor that keeps guests coming

back for more. Fresh salads and focaccia sandwiches round out a menu that’s designed to satisfy every appetite. For vegetarians, my mother’s not-to-be-missed choice is the Eggplant Parmesan. Though it’s from the appetizer menu, it’s plenty for a meal plus some to share! And no Italian meal is complete without dessert, good thing that Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar doesn’t disappoint. My must-try item is their house made Tiramisu. love the little kick from the espressosoaked ladyfingers to get me back in action after a carb-laden feast. My daughter’s favorite is most certainly from the dessert menu. Even though she can’t pronounce it, she can surely finish it with no help! The Stracetti Alla Nutella is tender fried dough strips that are drizzled generously with Nutella and dusted with pistachios. It’s an modern twist on funnel cake and definitely meant for sharing—or one seven-yearold with an affinity for Nutella.
Acquario’s beverage service complements the menu of Italian wines, beer, cocktails and an expanded spritz menu, making Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar just as appealing for happy hour as it is for family dinners. For Keller residents, the addition of Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar is a welcome sign of their growing culinary scene that’s starting to rival neighboring cities in culinary skill and elegance. It combines genuine Italian flavor, welcoming hospitality and an atmosphere that invites savoring every bite. Whether you might be craving a perfectly wood fired pizza, fresh pasta or spritz and an appetizer, Acquario Pizza Pasta Bar delivers an experience that somehow feels both familiar and at the time refreshingly new. It’s the kind of neighborhood restaurant that has quickly become a local favorite for good reason, earning a permanent place in the regular dinner rotation for all who visit.
